Staff not as helpful as they could have been. I was early- I was taken to a waiting room up 2/3 flights of glass stairs - no lift- no help with my bag . I didn’t look like a person who wd stay at the grand as I had been travelling and I didn’t look as smart as I could have. Staff seemed suspicious of me!

Great hotel which lived up to all expectations. Nice premises and exceptionally kind staff. Very nice breakfast with anything you might desire. Water supplied to rooms every day. Beds were excellent and rooms had little or no noise.

1. Breakfast restaurant has a proper espresso machine (unlike many other good hotels) but coffee does not reach the potential. Coffee is perfectly fine and similar to what you get from a top-of-the-line automated machine. However, if some individuals were trained appropriately, then from a coffee geek’s point of view, the could become great. 🤓 2. Spending 3 days by the pool and wishing to lie in the shadow, only option was to use sunbeds under some big trees with many birds dropping onto you and your sunbed. Staff routinely swapped towels and mattresses for clean ones. Would be nice with a few moveable sunshades so one would not have to lie “in constant fear” under the birds. 😅 By the pool there occasionally was smelly from outside the hotel premises.

I loved the attention to detail throughout the property—from the elegant design and immaculate cleanliness to the personalized service. The room was exceptionally comfortable, with high-end amenities that really elevated the stay. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall atmosphere made it feel like a true escape. The on-site dining and spa were also standout features that made the experience unforgettable.

Overall, the experience was fantastic, but if I had to mention something, it would be I wish the in-room dining menu had more variety. It wasn’t a major issue, but something that could enhance the experience even more.

I have stayed at the hotel several times. Although the rooms can sometimes be a bit hit and miss A/C wise the experience at the hotel has always been good. The breakfast is amazing. What makes the say really good are the staff. They are very helpful and supportive - Especially Dumith Noris, who was amazing. He remembered me from previous stays, addressed a problem with my room, arranged for the hotel tailor to help fix a rip in my suit jacket, and was there every morning to welcome me. He even sent chocolates to appologies for the room issue. 5 Star service at its best. He is certainly leading by example and someone that should be rewarded for his excellent service and approach.

Some rooms need a bit of updating - A/C and Mini bars fridges

This is my second stay at Cinnamon Grand, and it was just as great as expected. One thing that really stood out was the exceptional service quality of the staff. In particular, I want to thank the lovely staff in the 9th floor lounge. They were incredibly attentive and remembered our room numbers after only telling them once. They even helped me book the spa, showcasing the true spirit of Sri Lankan hospitality. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Upeksha, Cheryl, Dilshanu, Prasanna, Wasantha, and Damith. I also want to thank Samantha in the lobby for going above and beyond to find a restaurant for dinner. Despite the options being overwhelming, Samantha diligently searched and finally placed the call on my behalf, securing the booking.

Spacious and comfortable corner room with a great view. Excellent service throughout the hotel — very friendly and professional staff. Warm and personal hospitality from Mr. A. Samantha at the front office, which made us extend our stay. Clean and well-maintained facilities.

We wanted to book directly, but the staff insisted we use Booking.com, which felt a bit inconvenient. The only available room was on a smoking floor, and the smell of smoke entered our room through the ventilation — quite unpleasant at night. Smoking on guest room floors feels outdated; we hope the hotel moves to a fully non-smoking policy in the future.

Everything was great - the staff, the check in process, the beautiful room, the value for money on food (which was exceptional), and the special treatment the hotel gave my wife and me for our wedding anniversary! It was a true 5-star experience and we hope to be back again.

The only thing that was a little out of keeping is we were charged by the room service team for a small bit of boiled rice, chicken and potato which we requested for our 8 month daughter: most hotels give this for free so we were surprised by the charge for 2000 rupees which was later rescinded. This may have been an error.

From the moment you arrive, the staff take really good care of you. Efficient and friendly front desk staff, especially Durmith. The spacious Coffee Shop is a great place for a quick coffee and a ‘short eat’. Cheers Pub is a the best bar and the staff again are efficient and smiley. Good selection of snacks and meals. Our rooms was always immaculately serviced daily.

While the pool is fabulous, there is little shade and the crows can be a little annoying!

We had a truly wonderful experience at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We were delighted to receive a complimentary room upgrade and a generous complimentary lunch, which added such a thoughtful and personal touch to our stay. The Executive Lounge was a real highlight – quiet, comfortable, and beautifully managed. The food and drink offerings were excellent throughout the day, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. A special thanks to Dilshanu and Damith, whose professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. This was one of the best hotel experiences we've had in Sri Lanka – we highly recommend Cinnamon Grand to anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and world-class hospitality.

It would be nice to have a halaal food section that is separated from other food.

OK, it's a 5 star hotel, so expectations are very high, but we found that it more than met our expectations. The 'Premium' room we had was great - a very large dual aspect corner room. The bed was large and extremely comfortable, the shower was great and the WiFi worked perfectly for us. Security was tight, which we felt was a good thing, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was large and the solarium had plenty of sunbeds, both in the sun and in the shade. We really enjoyed Cheers Bar for its Happy Hour and you are spoilt for choice with the on-site restaurants.

Nothing, we had a great 6 day stay.
