This hotel is a perfect location just a few blocks from the Placa de Sol. There is a metro station at Sol and one at Opera (which is 2 blocks from the hotel in the other direction) so catching the metro to go all around Madrid is very easy! The employees (shout out to Emilio & Daril) are all very helpful and welcoming! Breakfast is full of choices. Each day it varies a bit to try to satisfy all kinds of tastes. There are boiled eggs every day (but you can ask them to make you scrambled eggs or an omellette filled with your favorites), There are sausages, iberico ham, thinly sliced meats, cheeses, peppers (red and green), assorted yogurts, fried rice, egg drop soup with vegetables, beans, flan and other sweets, fresh sliced oranges, melons, grapes, pineapple, bananas, etc., salad lettuces, tomatoes, pancakes, honey, nutella, jellies & jams. The bread selection is amazing: all types of croissants, local breads, cinnamon rolls, pastries, muffins, etc. And I must not forget to tell you about the Coffee Machine that offers every combination of coffee you can imagine, including decaf which is a must for me! They also have varied tea bags if you prefer tea. Breakfast is available from 7am-11am. I've probably missed a few items but wanted to let you know how wonderfully you can start your day at Hotel Francisco I! It is of great value! We had a room with twin beds that was very comfortable. You must put your room card in a slot upon entering to supply electricity to the room. The heating is on in hotels certain months of the year and the air conditioning is on certain months in many hotels in Europe to conserve energy. Madrid hotels follow this pattern. When we arrived the air conditioning had already been turned on so there was no heat. We had a day or two of cold weather so asked for blankets. We got those but 2 space heaters were brought to our room, also! A VERY CLEAN hotel! I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again upon my return!!!!!!

The hotel's location is fantastic. It's located in the heart of the old city, on a pedestrian street, close to many sights, restaurants, and shopping. You can walk everywhere. The area is bustling, but at night you can close the window and it's very quiet. The room was very comfortable, spacious, and clean. The breakfast buffet was abundant and varied, and everything was very tasty. This was not my first time staying here and I would definitely return.

Brilliantly located hotel between Opera and Sol metros on pedestrian street. Easy access by Cercanias from Madrid train stations (both Principe Pio and Atocha). Lovely bar with very friendly service. Excellent extensive breakfast. Room and bathroom very clean and nice to have coffee machine. We loved the design of this hotel, very stylish and attractive.

Bit hectic at breakfast, always seemed busy. Would have been nice to have seeds on offer at breakfast but appreciate this is a very minor point. Kettle would have been good - you can get boiling water from the coffee machine but takes a while.

We did not have breakfast here as it was quite expensive ( 24 Euros/ ea) but most importantly that we do not eat breakfast other than something very light. We LOVED our location !! We were right in the middle of EVERYTHING !! A couple blocks to the Royal Palace, a couple of blocks to Sol Plaza, a short walk to Plaza Mayor, a short walk to lots of shopping and restaurants!! A longer walk to Retiro Park, etc !!! Mai who works in the hotel’s bar/ coffee bar was an excellent help and so nice!

We did not like the noise from outside - all night long! This is not the hotels fault as the noise is from a city that doesn’t sleep ! Revelers ut from bars at 3:00 am or the garbage pickups or the police sirens ! Ugh !!

Location is perfect! It is away from the party crowd, not too noisy at night. This is our second time staying there. Walkable to most tourist spots and shopping streets. Easily accessible to pharmacy, mini-marts, restaurants, bistros, money exchange, Christmas markets etc. The reception team is very friendly too.

Hotel is getting a little old. Still managable but it would be better if they spend some money to touch up the toilets or change to a firmer bed.

Great location on main shopping street Spacious room and bathroom Shower was awesome. Good beds. Able to leave luggage after check out. Tv had English channels. The amount and quality of the toiletries was great and coffee machine was a bonus. Mini bar wasn't expensive. Have stayed before and will return as regular visitor to Madrid to visit family there.

A little noisy from corridor and next room.

Location perfect for exploring several main tourist attractions on foot. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel had quirky features and unusual decor. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Beds, pillows and bedding were extremely comfortable.

Some of our party were originally given a double room instead of a twin. The shower and toilet were practically in the bedroom with very skimpy glass partitions. There was not a separate bathroom. This would not be suitable for friends sharing or indeed some couples may not like that level of "intimacy". Bathroom toiletries in shower were a combined shampoo/shower gel which is not good for washing long hair!

Newly renovated boutique hotel in the heart of the tourist area of Madrid. Very kind staff. Interesting decoration and furniture around the hotel. Our room was well kitted out and comfortable. Delicious breakfast buffet

Just a small negative, but the breakfast room felt a little cramped at busy times.

Everything else! Food selection at breakfast was great, homemade cakes everyday included. The staff were friendly and good to deal with. Rooms were comfortable.

Breakfast was sometimes busy, the reception area and bar downstairs were quite small.

It was my first time in Madrid and would definitely recommend to friends. Hotel is centrally located to the main attractions reachable on foot. I arrived near midnight and was upgraded to a bigger room on the higher floor. Breakfast was excellent due to a wide variety of healthy choice such as gluten free, soy milk, almond milk etc. The reception has arranged for my excursions and transportation to the airport which made my life much easier.
