Breakfast is really nice. THe staff are very helpful and accomodating or explaining what things are (some foods were a bit unfamiliar), eggs to order. The spa if fantastic. Last time we visited we were the only ones using it - this time there were others in the spa area but still lots of room. The staff are all around fantastic! From the moment we got picked up at the train station by Ruth, our breakfast servers, housekeeping, bar tending... All great. Feel very welcome - like you're "home". Location is great - easy walk to shops/restaurants and shuttle for lift access.

I wish we realized we'd have such a difficult time getting dinner reservations. WE had to scramble the entire visit. Maybe a suggestion is to inform people of this likelihool and provide some recommendations prior to arrival so ressies can be made.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, right in the center of Zermatt. It’s close to the train station and many restaurants, yet still quiet and peaceful. The room we received was on the first floor, and the Matterhorn was only partially visible from the corner of the terrace. However, the room itself was spacious and the terrace was lovely. I was particularly impressed by the housekeeping – the cleaning was impeccable, and there was a small complimentary touch. Breakfast wasn’t especially rich, but we were told it’s mostly made with local products, and the coffee was very good.

Exceptional accommodations and view as promised. Memorable!!

Breakfast was quite disorganized and seemed understaffed to accommodate the number of guests. Also in written correspondence we were not given clear directions on how to contact the property for a ride. We aren’t local and are unfamiliar with the area. The staff person that emailed a response to my inquiry made it more unclear. All that was needed was a description of the hotel phone and directory which works quite well at the station but no one explained this. It could be described in the materials instead of me worrying about having coins for a phone booth. That was unnecessarily difficult.

The unforgettable experience starts with the amazing relaxing Spa smell as soon as the sliding doors open. It continues with extremely friendly and attentive staff as well as continuous details, be it in the decoration or available amenities. It is clear that careful thought and care goes into ensuring that everything is perfect and everyday is an enjoyable experience and cherished memory. This is a place to come and return. A big thank you to everyone that made our stay so wonderful.

Slight confusion with pick up at the train station was solved. Unclarity regarding warm food available at breakfast was also solved. You just need to talk to people and everything will be clarified or solved. We suggest added/ bigger signage regarding the breakfast that can be ordered. Or maybe a small paper checklist at the table, to reduce language barriers, since clients can have so many nationalities but a smart phone can help translate.

My brief review of this accommodation is a testament to the owner's (Ruth) tremendous service and care for us, despite being unable to stay at the hotel this time. We had initially booked a room for New Year's Eve, but this was unfortunately unavailable due to an overbooking. Ruth reached out to reserve an alternate (and great) room at a nearby accommodation and personally drove to pick us up and transfer us. She truly went above and beyond for us, and I look forward to formally staying with them for our next trip into town.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The breakfast offered many choices and the staff was courteous and hospitable. The spa is a nice addition to the hotel, although it was a bit inconvenient because you need to tell the staff when to turn it on. The daily housekeeping was nice and she did a great job cleaning. The decor of the hotel appealed to me. It was lodge-like in style with furnishings that were casual and comfortable but of high quality. The location is excellent near the center of town.

We requested a room with a view and I was very explicit that this was my top priority. I was disappointed that our room did have a view but you could not see the Matterhorn easily. I needed to go outside and stand in the corner of the balcony to get a clear view. This is not what I expected. We were on the 1st floor. The hotel balcony has an overhang so this also adds to the difficulty of being able to see up into the sky. The main floor lounge and bar area is very comfortable but it is not always open. I understand the reason is because it's not that busy right now and their staffing was limited but it would have been so great to have been able to access it 24/7.

This is one of the best hotels we have had the pleasure of staying in. We were expecting high standards being in Switzerland and we were not disappointed in any way, in fact the standards exceeded expectations. The first impressions were so good, the hotel oozes warmth and welcome and the host greeted us within moments of arrival and made us feel very welcome, like a family would. We were encouraged to contact reception for anything that we needed or wasn't as we would like.... we never needed to make a call. The interior decor was perfectly balanced for the location and everything was spotlessly clean. The room was warm, bed comfortable, and bathroom beautiful - we even had the most amazing view of the Matterhorn!. The quality flowed everywhere with Villeroy & Boch products clearly very popular. Breakfast was a repeat of all the above, excellent choice, excellent setting, and excellent service. Finally, on the note of overall service, we really cannot say a bad word about any member of staff. They work like one big happy family, it was such a pleasure to watch, and be looked after by a happy, competent and confident team.

We didn't like having to go home!

My husband and I travel a lot abroad with our two children (ages 8 and 10) and we both agreed that Matterhorn Lodge is in our top stays of all time in terms of hitting each mark out of the park - location was absolutely perfect, it was the largest and best laid out room for a family we have had in Europe. The children loved having their own beds rather than sharing a pull out sofa, and we loved having the kitchen and our own bedroom with balcony. The staff was friendly and kind and helpful with planning activities. The breakfast was fantastic, and the spa after a long day of hiking was the cherry on top! We absolutely loved our stay here and want to go back and experience it during ski season, as it was set up nicely for skiers as well.

Enchanting, cozy hotel with lots of personalized service! The decor is like being in a day spa, lovely decorative touches everywhere. Location can't be beat, right in the middle of town, walking distance to everything. Would definitely stay again!

We booked last minute and got the only room without an actual deck. That's on us, not the hotel - would just recommend giving them some notice if you want an otherwise splendid view of "the mountain" - see my picture of the view from our window.

Location, facilities, internal design

At time of check-in we were kindly welcome, however there was too much ecology-sustainability talk trying to convince us (clients) that lack of exotic fruit at breakfast is due to avoidance of polluting overseas flights, while meager offering at breakfast is due to high quality local sourcing. At the same time such 'exotic' products like coffee (for sure not locally sourced) and Australian cosmetic products (quite long overseas flight to ship) were readily available. Suggest that welcome speech is revised to minimize clients' feeling of overkill.
