I honestly don't know why this place has low reviews. It is, as in the title, a budget hotel. That means it leaves something to be desired, but for the relative price of Zermatt it is fine. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It was a bit difficult to find the entrance, through a small alley and up some stairs but was right on the main street.

This is a budget european hotel which means it won't have an elevator, has thin walls, and squeaky floors. I always travel with an eye mask and ear plugs. The shower was missing the decorative cover on the faucet and the holder for the shower head. A bit annoying but the temperature was good and the pressure was OK.

Terrific location right on the main street of Zermatt. We had 2 rooms. One room (top floor) had view of the Matterhorn. 2nd room on floor below did not but had a small balcony overlooking the town. Rooms were small but spotless. Hôtel was a god value price in an expensive town.

Our room was 6th floor up from street level - no elevator. Most buildings in town have a small footprint and multiple floors due to the narrow valley, so be prepared.

The breakfast was great! The room was cozy and budget friendly.

Having to climb the stairs after snowboarding was a real challenge!

The breaksfast was great. The view was excellent. Gorgeous! The room was warm and comfy. The location is great. It's only a few steps away from bakery and shops. Close to the train station which is a bonus. Because an electric taxi is too expensive if you are travelling alone or with your partner only.

It could have been better if upon checking in the staff would mention to their guests about the time breakfast is being served. We nearly missed breakfast and we've seen few families came down to have breakfast but it was already close. The male staff was not apologetic and empathetic.

The hotel is in an old building on the main Banhofstrasse in Zermatt. As such it has limitations in terms of access and layout. However, when asked on booking, the hotel willingly provided me with a first floor room (I have some mobility issues). The room was tiny (with an even tinier bathroom) but was warm and comfortable. Given its location in an extremely expensive town it offered good value accommodation with breakfast included in the price, and was easily walkable from the main transport and resort facilities. Other comments have referred to noise from the street outside but my room was very quiet and peaceful. Any disturbance came from the sound of other guests using the stairs but this was understandable given the age and layout of the building.

The entrance could be much better marked. There is a Helvetia sign high on the wall of the street but you have to walk past the adjoining bakery first to get access up a set of unmarked steps. Only then do the access instructions become visible. The room needed some TLC - the bracket holding the shower head in the bathroom was not working and the full-length door/window would not stay shut.

We were in the attic room (4th floor) and there is no lift, which wasn’t a major problem for us, but may prove difficult for less able people. It is an excellent location, but with that can come some noise, being on the Main Street. However the management were very good and a few days before our arrival, did ask if we wanted a quieter room they would try to locate us at the rear of the building. We didn’t request one, but depending on who is in town that night, there can be some noise if a rowdy bunch is around. Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. All round, very good value for money.

This is a quaint old building in the middle of Zermatt. Its charm is wonderful. It has no elevator so you have to carry your luggage up the stairs yourself. Not complaining just giving info. The rooms are adequate with a bed, closet, bathroom with shower. Breakfast was sparse but good. Staff were friendly! Oh and the restaurant attached served us great food!!!

Little noisy if your room faces the street. The hotel does tell you this at booking and offers to give you a room to the back if one is available.

The check-in was really smooth and the location is perfect ; its located on the main street surrounded by restaurants and bars and close to the train station (5-10 minute walk). We saw the reviews about there being a lot of noise so we brought ear plugs, but we ended up not using them as we couldn’t hear anything from outside. The breakfast was also filling and had a lot of options.

There is no elevator - we had light backpacks so it wasn’t a problem but for other people with big luggages it could maybe be an issue.

A lovely cozy room with a kettle and an excellent shower, wonderful wooden wall upholstery, as if in a chalet. A normal hearty breakfast.

The only audibility from the neighboring rooms and especially from the stairs did not allow us to sleep all night. Apparently, we were just unlucky with neighbors who have children and a lot of luggage.....

It’s in the center of town, walking distance from train station, uphill a bit but golf cart taxis available. It’s walking distance to catch the Matterhorn express. The town is pretty small so the above would be the case for most stays. I think what makes this hotel stand out is the value for the price, it was clean and breakfast is included. It has a balcony to watch the city .

We traveled in July and it gets very hot . No AC it would be nice if there was at least a fan. It is close to 3 bars and it is true that it gets loud. If you close the windows it’s not as bad, however since it was hot… it would be perfect for people who like nightlife and stay up late. I liked the location and wasn’t too bothered by the noise because I had already read other reviews.
