We stayed as a family group of adults. Wonderful stay from start to end. The staff are brilliant - so friendly, kind and willing to help. We had an excursion starting at 5am and would have missed breakfast, so the staff gave us a wonderful breakfast box each so that we wouldn’t miss out. The hotel breakfast the next day was brilliant and there was a very good variety of food with something for everyone. Their egg options are made to order. The hotel grounds are very picturesque and maintained very well. Pool was quiet and a lovely temperature. Our room was spacious and so was the bathroom. Beds were comfortable and I liked the pillows. We could not hear any outside noise from our room. I was very impressed with the hotel. Great location on a quiet road within the old town. Very well signposted and easy to find. We were only about a 2 minute walk from some lovely shops and cafes. The hotel is also very close to some of the key sites in Chiang Mai.

The room was incredible modern and spacious, and room service left it absolutely spotless each day. The breakfast buffet had a great selection, and I loved that we had the option to have specific menu items made to order. The pool was lovely, and when it wasn't busy with other guests, it's the perfect place to relax. The attitude and overall service from every member of staff was always great.

The pool itself is a bit small and the area can get crowded, but it's easy to relax if you choose the right time to go down.

Big, clean, comfortable room. Air con was very good and wifi good. Staff very helpful. Location is quite good, most good restaurants/shops 10 min walk although there is a touristy street very close with American bars etc.

Swimming pool is quite small, although it does look good/tranquil there’s not very many loungers etc. Laundry service is way too expensive to actually use - would be the equivalent of £40 for a single load of washing (they charge by the item). Be aware that if you’re a smoker, the entire hotel is non-smoking - so you have to leave the hotel at the front to go to a smoking area.

The staff were amazing. Monica, Boe, Earth and Anita were all so kind (as were the other staff!). They took care of us like family, such hospitality and care. From the arrival tea, to snacks in the room, to the daily cooking lessons, Thai Akara went above and beyond. The location is perfect for exploring, central and easy to find. However, it still felt quite serene. The pool was a lovely way to cool off after a long day of exploring. The property was spotless, even after rain dropped leaves the staff were cleaning! We stayed in a pool facing room and it was beautiful. Well sized, great shower/bath and bathroom, and a very comfortable bed! The restaurant was delicious! The breakfast was quaint, fresh fruit, pastries and cooked to order egg dishes. Plus additional waffles/pancakes/etc. Lunch/dinner was better than expected for a hotel - as good as other restaurants in the area! Truly loved everything about our time at Thai Akara!!

Nothing. Perfection!

This boutique hotel has fewer than 30 rooms, so it is quiet, not busy, and everything in the hotel is conveniently located. It's in the Old Town, so delicious street food and shopping are within walking distance. We managed to book the suite, which was on offer when we booked. It's a huge room, so it was very comfortable, but it was tucked away at the back, so no view of the pool or the city, but it was very quiet though. The breakfast was EXCELLENT! The selection was not wide (remember that this is a small boutique hotel), but it was more than adequate. Every day, there was a special dish for breakfast, which was nice, and every day, we sat at the same table on the balcony of the dining room overlooking the courtyard and swimming pool, with a huge tree in the middle and the aroma of jasmine in the air. Reception was very helpful and made reservations for us for the tour and restaurant reservations. We are especially grateful to Rainny in reception and Monika in dining, who were so friendly and helpful throughout our 5-day stay.

The swimming pool was very small, but I guess adequate for a small boutique hotel.

I loved the peaceful, beautifully designed Lanna-style setting, the warm hospitality; especially from Monica who made us feel like family - and the ideal location within the Old City, close to temples, shops and local cafés. The courtyard pool and wooden architecture gave the place a calm, authentic charm, and everything felt clean, quiet, and well-kept.

On the flip side, for a boutique hotel of this standard, the staff’s proactiveness in recommending places or assisting with top restaurant bookings felt a little underwhelming. I was also surprised there wasn’t any form of transport support — like a scheduled van, tuk-tuk, or car service to nearby markets or attractions. Even a simple hourly drop-off would have added great value and convenience.

Peaceful oasis in a very busy but great location. Beautiful traditional Lanna style boutique hotel. Great staff, take great care for the property. Great breakfast with a nice view. Nice extra room touches - mini bar, fruit and snacks. Saltwater pool - no chlorine! Great base inside Old City, very convenient location for sightseeing and for great cafes, restaurants, boutique shops etc.

Felt like the room was lacking amenities and aesthetics for the price point. Needed more towel hooks in bathroom, limited clothes storage, weak AC unit. Felt a little basic for the price. Hotel aesthetics also missing that extra touch of luxury with towels everywhere and loud staff. Small gym and very small pool. Expensive onsite restaurant.

Staff was great! Too many people to name, but front desk Rainny was very helpful in making reservations for restaurants and tours. Paid great attention and made sure all of our expectations were met. The restaurant and bar staff was terrific, very attentive and friendly. The mid day cooking demonstrations were fun. Monika and Pim were great! Smaller pool and area, but very quaint/intimate and served as a great respite when not doing tours and sightseeing. Pretty grounds and clean room

Gym equipment could have been better maintained. The cable actually broke on me.

Nice boutique hotel, plenty of hot water, huge bathroom, comfortable beds. There was plenty of AC that got quite cold, they provided robes and slippers. Three doors down is a laundry service but the hotel was able to drop it off for us and pick it up which was a nice perk. For less than five dollars we were able to get our clothing washed, folded, and returned to us. It was ฿100 per kilogram. Right next-door is an Expat bar and restaurant called Annie's. We were able to walk to most places but not to the night bazaar or the Saturday walking market. However, the songtaws were easy to use.

The water temperature was quite variable in the shower and would get cold and hot. Need hooks to hang clothing and towels!

Wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of the old town Chiang Mai. Staff go above and beyond to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of guests. Large comfortable rooms and quiet location down a laneway off a busy street. Excellent breakfast and the added touch of small dishes cooked by the pool on certain afternoons for guests to enjoy. Spotlessly clean public areas and friendly, cheerful staff. Surrounded by restaurants and bars and a short walk to temples and attractions of the Old Town. Highly recommended.
