Malik is the young man who checked us in. He was a great help during our stay. Our luggage did not arrive with us and he went out of his way to try to make sure we got it before we boarded our cruise ship. He told us the best way to get around town. He also helped us walk to the ship with our luggage. The room was quaint and comfortable. The hotel is tucked away on a quiet street, we were able to walk to a lot of great spots.

Unfortunately it is an older building and does not have an elevator. We were in the 4th floor.

I recently stayed at Mate Port Hotel during my visit to Istanbul, and overall, it was a great experience. The hotel is located in a prime area, close to popular attractions like the Grand Bazaar and the Bosphorus, which made exploring the city very convenient. The staff were friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, with modern amenities. I particularly appreciated the comfortable bed and the quiet atmosphere, which allowed for restful nights after long days of sightseeing. Overall, I would highly recommend Mate Port Hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, affordable stay in Istanbul with easy access to the city's major attractions.

Incredibly kind host/staff, very helpful, fully trustworthy. When arriving to the hotel I was strongly convinced that I booked the only room with a balcony (and apparently I wasn’t), he calmed me down, explained all options we have to make our stay the best. Even though it was just a a discussion I really felt that he cares. Our stay was nearly perfect. The location is great, I really liked the vibe of this cosy hotel. We didn’t mind to climb the stairs each day (some people may find a hotel without a lift as a disadvantage). The rooms are obviously small but still smart equipped, providing you with a good comfort.

I would advise to change the mattresses. Those ones in our room were not in the best condition (in terms of comfort). Assuming that a good sleep and relaxation are crucial parts of your stay (in general), I would really pay attention to it. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel for tall people or more robust people. Even though the space is utilized very wisely and the atmosphere is really nice, you would notice some missing centimeters (tiny bathroom, shorter bed).

The bathroom was much nicer than I had expected, the room was pretty cramped with a big double bed and hardly any space to stick a suitcase but again this had been clearly advertised and the actual room area (15 m2) was exactly as it was stated on Booking web page hence no surprises. Overall, good value for the money, especially if you factor in the fantastic location. The location is perfect to visit Istanbul. Ferry and nearby tram, with easy access to most anywhere in Istanbul. Nearby restaurants are local favourites and the walkable Karakoy neighbourhood is literally out the back door. Staff was very friendly and helpful, any small requests were addressed and corrected immediately. This is a beauty of small hotels, all issues are responded to without delay, and you do not need to wait for hours for someone to come around and fix a safe locker as it is often the case in large hotels.

On a separate note, the rooms were thought to be non-smoking areas, I was on the 3rd floor, however a plenty of tobacco smoke and bad odour was routinely entering my bathroom, supposedly through the ventilation duct, during the day when visitors / guests were chain smoking at the porch and reception office on the ground floor.

The location is excellent and the stuff are cheerful and helpful especially Tahsin he is so genuine and he was born to work in the hospitality business such great guy ion

Our experience was perfect at the Mates Port hotel. The staff is extremely helpful and would go out of their way to meet our expectations and help us with our requests. The room was very modern and clean, location was perfect close to galata area and the new galata port mall and an area with a lot of restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay there again next time I visit Istanbul.

Everything was perfect. Rooms were a bit too small but we were able to upgrade with a small difference to a bigger one.

Great location, Karakoy is so vibrant part with just few minutes walking from ferry and tram. Hotel room was clean, had everything I needed. The staff was so nice and helped me with my suitcases. The hotel even if it's in this area with a lot of bars and coffees and the noise can be until 2-3 in the morning didn't have any noise which is important. Really recommending this hotel!

Clean and centrally located. Staff were very helpful and supportive when our taxi took us to the wrong destination and helped to direct the taxi and negotiate the fare.

Not a criticism of the hotel, but do take note that there are 2 streets in Istanbul with the same name. One on the Europe and one far away on the Asia side.

Rooms are on the small side, but they were clean, the bed is comfortable and the bathroom was good. Free water was topped up every day. We found the location good - near Karakoy ferry pier and the tram for access to Old Town, Galata and beyond. Good selection of bars, restaurants and cafes within a short walk. Very friendly, helpful staff.

Very clean and comfy..the staff is amazing and very welcoming.whenever I had an issue or a question the gentleman was always with me on the phone with plenty of help and assistance .i would definitely come back to this place again ..

Just the traffic jam..taxi sometimes can’t go through the area but still it can drop you off too close ..just have to walk couple hundred meters but it’s surely worth it
