I had an absolutely wonderful stay at Bailbrook Lodge, OYO in Bath. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful – truly going above and beyond to make my visit perfect. The location is ideal, offering easy access to the city centre while still feeling peaceful and relaxing. The facilities were spotless and well-maintained, with everything I needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Overall, I can’t recommend this property highly enough – it’s hands-down one of the best places to stay in Bath. If you’re visiting the city, this should be at the very top of your list!

Staying here is like going back to Jane Austen times with large elegant high ceiling rooms and a Four poster bed. It is handy for the bus stop into Bath and has free parking right outside. The breakfast was excellent too.

Only a couple of minor things that need fixing; it could really do with a working light above the mirror over the handbasin, and a bulb in the reading light would be helpful although it wasn’t really a problem. The picture above the dressing table is so out of keeping with the style of the room - I’d recommend a print of an old landscape or something else, anything else really! (See pics)

The staff are very kind and accommodating. We arrived early so our room was not ready however we were given our room key and shown how to access the building and even where our room was for ease when we returned to the hotel later on. Breakfast was great served tea or coffee and a not a long wait at all for food. Room was good size and had a cosy feel nice fresh bedding. Overall the standout was the staff member who greeted us and looked after us the whole stay. He allowed us to enjoy our stay without lifting a finger!

It is about a 30/35 min walk in to bath centre, this isn’t so bad but we booked last minute so didn’t research this distance much. If you’re up for walks it is a nice one past some lovely houses and is only one road so it’s not strenuous! We did the walk in but later on after dinner got a taxi back up which isn’t the end of the world if you’re staying for just one or two nights.

I booked this hotel for its location, value for money but most important, we like mansion house/old style buildings to take romantic weekends away. This ticket all the boxes and was beautiful, our room was spacious, had a lovely seating area right by a massive bay window, overlooking the garden. It was very quiet inside the hotel and outside, it was warm so we had the window open all the time, there was a fan which worked very well. Tea & Coffee supplied in room, Bathroom was a shower in a wet room which is perfect. There was a safe in the wardrobe if needed and plenty of room to hang clothes & a hairdryer in the draw. TV also in the room. The breakfast was wonderful, lovely lady (Chef) full cooked English. Manager was a phone call away if needed and car parking on site. Bus stop 2 mins down the driveway and takes you direct into town, about 15 mins. If you want a couples get away and you like the style of older hotels, then this is for you, it is a charming historical house and may look to others as a bit tired, it has character and that's why we booked it.

Staff came out to greet us when we arrived and showed us how to use the mechanism on the front door which had a key pad. The keycode was sent prior to our arrival. He offered to help us with our bags. Along with the keypad which opened the front door and our room, he gave us a key fob for ease. The room was comfortable and in style with the age of the building. The carpet was worn in places but to be expected with the age of the room. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a wet room but adequate. Because of the heat, the room was very stuffy but a fan was provided. Breakfast was delicious and again the staff were exceptionally friendly. We weren't asked if we had any dietry requirements but I told them that I had brought my own milk for tea, I'm sure that if I had asked in advance then this would have been catered for along with gluten free products. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

The room was provided with tea and coffee facilities but we had no kettle which we didn't realise until we went to make a cup of tea in the morning by which time was too late to ask for one. The sink, which was in the room and not in the bathroom, must have had a drainage problem because it did not drain very quickly and no plug was provided.

Great big room and the property itself feels like a manor house. Great grounds as well and just a quick drive into the city centre. No issues with parking, very quiet and breakfast was very good as well. On top of the cooked breakfast, there was also a table with fruit, toast and juices. Very lovely staff.

Not a fan of the sink in the actual bedroom, but this is not a complaint at all. This is something that is normal in a property from that period.

The staff are super friendly and very helpful. The (female) receptionist on duty during my stay was particularly good, going the extra mile for me (keeping my perishables in the kitchens refrigerator etc). The house itself is a gracious Georgian lodge for the main mansion. It was converted some time ago. My room was literally a cube shape, very high ceilings, with a small shower /WC off. There were a few small imperfections ( maybe too much furniture cluttering the bedroom space? ) but this is essentially nitpicking . It was great. The house exhibits a sort of Charming faded glory from days gone by, however, it is great value for money, and a chance to dine in the crescent window of the dining room, or just relax in the similarly featured residents lounge .if you want a swanky hotel, try somewhere else. If you want traditional, tranquil space, reserve a room at Oyo Bailbrook Lodge. A unique place, not 'corporate" at all, which was one of its best and attractive features. The location is also excellent, for Bath centre, the river and canal network and walking opportunities all around. I'd say to the management there :- "Never change" Oyo Bailbrook Lodge, you have a gem of a place there. Quirky, authentic, memorable. Really nice.

I initially found the digital check in somewhat anxiety inducing, especially as time was lost quite close to their "nighttime" protocol... But this was efficiently resolved by Veepan (sp) ,plus a small mix up with the room. But quickly sorted and all was well

I found it a very charming place to stay. I stayed in the Lincoln suite. The bed was huge and comfortable, the bathroom was modern although the sink was in a cupboard but I love a bit of quirkiness. I also appreciated the security pad lock on each door. I felt very safe. If you like quirkiness and character and like history, it's a nice place to stay. The guy there was friendly and helpful and you can see the efforts he's making to improve the place. I would come back and I would recommend giving this place a chance.

They have just started doing full English breakfast and it was edible but I think they could improve the quality of the sausages as it was quite tough and rubbery.

Really good value for money with free parking and easy bus ride into Bath. Loved the spacious bedroom with elegant furnishings and gorgeous Four Poster bed. Excellent attention to detail like plug sockets near mirrors, hook on the back of the bathroom door, plenty of clothes storage, nice towels and tea and coffee making facilities.

My husband thought it seemed a bit “tired” in places eg non-working strip light above the sink. I thought it was in keeping with an older style of decor which I like. The mattress was a little soft causing rolling into the middle but we still slept ok.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was perfectly cooked and high quality, and the hospitality tray in the room even included ground coffee and a cafetiere! The hotel isn't in the centre of Bath but offers free parking and you can get a bus from just outside - if you look at the price to park in Bath, this is a real saving.

The beautiful old building could do with a little TLC, but I'd rather stay in a slightly shabby beauty like this than a soulless modern box.
