The location ..and the beautiful decor and grounds

The extra charge for wifi ..thought £7 a day was a bit steep ..cou.ldnt even make or take calls in our rooms ..notices people going outside to make calls in the cold

Having read other reviews I was a bit apprehensive about staying here though was lured in by the price. I have to say I was really impressed. Good welcome from reception team who made sure we knew about getting car registration on system. Room was large with the addition of 2 bucket chairs & a small table. The room & bathroom we were allocated wasn't outdated. We had a minor issue in the shower as it would only sit at the bottom of the pole. The grounds were beautiful with outside seating in the lawn. We would have enjoyed time out there had the weather been better or on a longer stay. The lift did give a negative impression but with a service & some much needed painting decoration it would be fine. We would definitely come back & I'm pretty picky when it comes to hotels.

We really felt comfortable and enjoyed our one night stay in a spacious, homely and clean executive double room; very relaxing and made good use of the large walk-in shower in the modern ensuite. Excellent value for money, including extra facilities and the niceties e.g Tassimo coffee machine with Hot chocolate pods, tea and coffee. Nice little soap, shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom, with very clean soft hand and bath towels. Made good use of the hair dryer, iron and ironing board also. Excellent storage in the room, bedside tables and big wardrobe. Only booked in and paid for a double room, but was upgraded to an executive room upon arrival. Friendly, very hospitable staff. Would definitely stay here again. Enjoyed a relaxing walk and drink around the hotel gardens.

Staff at the breakfast buffet were not great at all. We weren't greeted at the restaurant, nobody told us where the restaurant was so we had to find it on our own. Breakfast buffet was nice, but could see how old and dry food on the hot plate was. I believe breakfast should be included in the price.

After i got a upgraded room this was a great stay. Lovely spacious room with fridge and kettle. For once they had left enough coffee and tea for the full stay, not like other hotels.

First room was meant to be a double bed, 2 singles pushed together, and shower rail was broken. Restaurant doesn't open till 6.30pm which is a little late for me. Nowhere was it explained how you get Dinner and it was a little pricy as i just turned up and did not pre book on check-in. All of this did not really affect my stay here, just a couple of little things.

I checked in on Friday in the evening. Had a great evening as I was able to use the sauna steam room and Jacuzzi. I had an amazing experience then on Saturday morning I woke up and went to a business meeting and then when I came back in the evening there was lots of music going on in the hotel. It was very nice. Had a good night sleep and then checked out in the morning. It was an early checkout as I don’t be back for the checkout time. The restaurant bars were well done up and easy to access. I was very happy with my stay and for future I will be using this hotel when I am staying in Coventry.

Nothing else

liked the bathroom for size and with a shower that had a removable shower head / pipe thingy. I dislike when it is fixed :) room size was excellent and there was even a strong hairdryer and a little fridge. quite in the beginning of the corridor, yet quiet. had fish and chips in the bar which was very tasty. loved the garden for having a little stroll with the dog. saw an Indian wedding too, beautiful bride and clothes - but this has nothing to do with the hotel itself :)

the bed was too soft for me but that's personal preference of course.

The staff are extremely polite and helpful. I also had a lovely room with all the facilities I needed (hairdryer, iron, fridge, coffee machine etc). The bed was comfy and the room was really clean. I have stayed a few times at this hotel but the room I recent had was the best one by far. You get what you pay for if you upgrade.

There's nothing I didnt like.. perhaps the lack of socket spaces but being a seasoned traveller, I always take an extension so I can charge my phone beside the bed.

I've rated this as 'exceptional' for the fact it was £59 per room per night! if you have high expectations for that price then move along to the next hotel price option ;-) Very nice grounds, loads of parking, friendly staff, bar prices not bad, very attractive entrance lobby with great décor.

The room was dated which for the price was acceptable but the range of unpleasant smells between fire doors and the room when you walk in isn't so good, it did make sense why the window was wide open when I arrived, not that I was able to lock it shut as the latch was broken. The images of the food looked so bad we didn't chance the evening meal and went to another local venue.

This hotel offered lovely surroundings. It was bright and comfortable. The room was spotless and the bathroom had been modernised since our last visit a couple of years ago. The evening meal offered at a lower price upon check-in was OK. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice and presented in a buffet style which was the same for the evening meal. There are very nice grounds to sit outside and have a drink or two at very reasonable prices. There is ample parking so really no worries there, though just remember to pop your vehicles registration into the touch screen at reception so not to receive a parking fine.

I loved this hotel. It's a beautiful old historic building set in a lovely quiet location yet less then 10 minutes away from Coventry city by car. The pool is great, I really enjoyed it, there is also a gym for those into fitness. The inside of the hotel has character, it's a piece of history unlike modern standard block buildings. I read the bad reviews on the condition but I don't find it bad condition at all. For a building of its age it's very well maintained. Room was lovely and clean, again I'm surprised by the negative reviews on cleanliness, it was great, large TV, kettle, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, shower room, large storage cupboard and wardrobe, quite a big room. The grounds are lovely to sit out in good weather. Bar has outdoor seating. All in all this is a fabulous hotel, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I would definitely recommend it. Excellent value at that price for a spa hotel.

Doesn't have a lift. Long walk upstairs with baggage.
