The location. Overall it was a nice comfortable hotel.

Having to get the heating sorted out that wasn't working, but it was rectified very quickly.

Perfect location to explore the city by foot. The breakfast selection was great and the staff was friendly.

Elevators were very slow

The hotel’s location is the best part! Very convenient and accessible to many attractions in just walking distance. My room has a balcony with nice overlooking views of the city’s iconic landmarks such as Scott monument along Princes St and Edinburgh castle…They also serve really good breakfast with great selections (including haggis). And the staff were very attentive to your concerns and needs.

The top floor’s balcony should’ve had divisions to create a private balcony space for each room (coz you can literally walk through your neighbors balcony space freely). Also, the room could’ve had a small fridge where you can keep your beverages cold.

Great location, room was spacious and clean. Excellent shower and lots of hot water. Beds were large and comfy, had wonderful sleep. We requested twin beds as travelled as mother and adult son, and there was plenty of space for both of us without feeling on top of each other.

Only negatives were our view of the emergency stairs at the rear but this in no way detracted from all the good stuff (and we barely spent any free time in the room anyway), and that our room key cards had to be re-programmed twice over a 3 day stay when they stopped working. No fridge in room for drinks.

The manager Vicki was so helpful regarding my daughter who got 2nd degree burns from coffee on the plane. Vicki helped us to contact the NHS and seek the appropriate help. She was amazing and was genuinely interested in providing the help and care we needed. Another fabulous thing regarding our room was that due to it being myself and my daughters 20th and 50th birthday celebrations we got a room upgrade with an incredible view of the castle, we also were greeted with flowers a welcome card and a selection of chocolates and cupcakes. Amazing

Everything was perfect

Excellent service - we were upgraded in one of our three rooms, which was a lovely surprise Perfect family arrangement with three separate rooms (one for my wife and me, two for our adult children) Everyone in the family really enjoyed their accommodations and was comfortable throughout the stay Outstanding central Edinburgh location with fantastic nearby restaurants where we had breakfast each morning The upgrade showed great customer service and attention to guest satisfaction All rooms were clean, well-maintained, and met our family's needs Easy walking access to Edinburgh's main attractions

no thing

extremely friendly personnel, central location on main boulevard, close to everything, clean hotel

over all very expensive, but is Scotland !! breakfast average, not too much variety, focused more on scottish style. breakfast to go on early hours can be better, it was no sandwich included, only sweets and fruits. hotel a little bit outdated, needs some improvements, especially balcony windows and doors (7 floor), due to daily noise from public transportation, even during the night and early morning. actual type of frames are very old and not built to protect from extreme noise.

Location very good - however this street is very busy (but we were aware of that) we even got a free upgrade which made the 4 nights more comfortable. The rooms on the 6th floor with castle view are pleasantly large and a small balcony was also included. Thanks for that. The breakfast is really extensive and also very good!

The heating in the bathroom is on full blast 24 hours a day (you almost burn yourself on the towel warmer if you touch it with your bare skin) - and so the room also heats up - it was therefore far too warm in the bedroom. Unfortunately, I was told at reception that this cannot be changed - which is not good. Also, the air conditioning didn't work properly (switched off automatically after an hour and then it got too warm in the room very quickly). Also, the steam extractor in the bathroom doesn't seem to work - it's very humid there and the staff then leave the door open and use it to heat up the room. An unfortunate thing ... otherwise it would be really very good there.

Our room was very spacious with a brilliant view of the gardens on Princes Street. The bed was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our shower room (wet room) was large however after a shower the whole floor became wet making access to the toilet/washbasin slippery. . We would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to everyone we know who wishes to stay in a well located and clean/comfortable hotel. We must mention the food, breakfast is buffet style and has everything you could wish for. Evening meals were absolutely brilliant, we enjoyed them very much. It was a shame we only stayed a couple of nights.

The lifts seemed to have a mind of it's own - it took us to every floor but the correct one!!! By the end of our stay, we just had to hope we could get out on our floor in the shortest time, despite this it was a talking/laughing point with all the passengers in the lift although frustrating at times.

Smooth check in and out. Helpful pleasant staff, Craig a fountain of knowledge on our first morning, filling us in about the history and sights of Edinburgh, food excellent and plentiful. Location fantastic, within walking distance of everything. Fantastic view from the breakfast room each morning of Edinburgh Castle. Would stay again.

Unusual that reception was not on the entrance from the street it was the next floor up. Hotel from the outside covered under renovations or construction?? Fan going constantly outside our bedroom window, would have loved a room with a view of Edinburgh Castle.
