Very good front desk staff and welcome, especially the kilts and trews. Impressive hotel entrance. I liked the bedroom skirting boards which appeared original as they were quite battered but added character. Had a fridge which was helpful.

Breakfast was quite underwhelming - could have been any hotel, anywhere with the buffet approach - c. £25 a head was not great value. Perhaps I was naive in expecting waiter service and menu given the cost of the hotel. Could have offered premium Scottish produce such as kippers, smoked salmon etc. It's a hotel with great character and reputation but I found the breakfast room and dining room somewhat modern and bland. I had been expecting more of the same in terms of old wood and character as you have in reception. Dining menu was very good but for some reason no puddings on offer. Bathroom was very clean but hardly any space to put washbags. No hand rails in the bathroom.

nice loccation - friendly staff - clean room

breakfast menu didn't offer a traditional scottish breakfast- only a meatless version....really? why cant you offer both? we left and went to the Ivy and had a wondeful breakfast. I also requested an early check in at noon when I booked and was told it will be considered. Of corurse i had to leave my bags and didnt have the room and had no access to my bags until 9pm that evenings. this made touring inconvenient.

Everything was first class and the staff were great.

Didn't replenish the kleenex in the washroom and removed our second pass key from the electrical slot. Walls can be thin enough to hear anyone with a high pitch voice in the next room.

Stayed there previously, so it’s a high quality hotel in a v central location. Lots of character !

The room felt really small / almost claustrophobic in terms of size, despite costing a whopping £500+ per night for sole occupation.

everything was excellent from staff to room size and tidiness

one issue was the water pressure we had to change our room due to the water pressure being low in the stand shower however even the second room had low pressure i mean very low difficult to shower, I hope the hotel management looks into this

We've stayed at The George several times now as it is in the centre of Edinburgh and within easy reach of the train station, the shops and restaurants. This time was to celebrate our friend's 50th birthday and, as they hadn't stayed there before, we decided to make it a bit special for him. Everything was just as before: the room was clean and tidy, tea and coffee making facilities were provided, the bed was very comfortable, and there's an excellent selection for breakfast and all of it is delicious.

This is purely a personal thing but I'm a sucker for a cup of Twinings' English Breakfast Tea in the morning. It seems to be a staple in every other hotel we visit but, for some reason, not at The George.

I like many things first of all the location as well as the friendliness of many of the staff but not all of them! I also liked and appreciated the honesty of the housekeeping staff. I also like the the nice and warm world coming of those guys who work at the very first door of the hotel.

Not all of the reception desk staff as friendly as each other. Also also the long corridor after you pass the reception on your way to the 2 lifts he's not very clean.

The room, its location and proximity to the lift was excellent. Inside we had all amenities with daily replacements of coffee, tea biscuits, and water. We didn't have to ask.

Neither my wife nor I can think of anything that was so poor or below our expectations that we needed to draw the attention of the hotel staff. Besides, it would seem odd after having been complimentary in the above box to identify things we didn't like.

My daughter and I travelled to Endinburgh from Cork, Ireland to see Taylot Swift play at Murrayfield. When booking a hotel this was the only one available and was quite pricey so was concerned if I had made the right choice in selecting it. However our stay at the Intercontinental was wonderful and was the cherry on the cake of a wonderful trip. The staff there made us feel so special and my daughter had the best time - so thank you for making this an even more special trip.

The only thing i could fault was the price - it was really expensive but most hotels were.
