Really central. Near railway and bus station. A few minutes walk from Princess Street and George Street. Near the shopping centre. Good price for this city centre location. Right on St Andrews square. The room was a reasonable size. The shower was lovely. Bar was moody, and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was plentiful and brought to your table. There were plenty of other options in the buffet breakfast, too. Freshly squeezed juice. Croissants, etc. Coffee machine and tea options. I'd book again for the price location and staff.

Moody decor in this hotel suits the Edinburgh winter. But in the summer you want light. However, our room was pleasantly decorated and had great air conditioning. The shower in the bathroom was lovely. The room was on the 2nd floor. You'd think that would have been above the ground level but not in Edinburgh. We were in the servants' quarters, looking up to the pavement on a main road. We closed the curtains as I'm sure people walking past could look in. Made the room even darker. No noise, though, and the bed was really comfortable.

Staff were excellent with information on what was on in Edinburgh. They were also very attentive to guest requirements

The property is an amazing building, architecturally and looks welcoming from the moment you see it on arrival. The decor is amazing (obvs that’s dependent on taste), looks stylish, coordinated and well thought out, taking into consideration the age of the building. Our room was spacious (twin beds) and included everything you could need (they’d gone above and beyond), plus it was really clean and very well maintained, with really comfortable beds and linen.

Nothing I could find to complain about. Only my first visit though, but I don’t think I’d find anything if I came again!

Absolutely fantastic location! Super easy access to the tram from the airport, the tour buses pick up right outside and a great selection of bars / eateries on the doorstep. The staff were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Special mention to the barman who looked after us on our last day while we waited for a late evening flight home having checked out at 11.

Breakfast bacon was slightly undercooked for our liking and the hash browns were burnt but the breakfast selection was top notch overall. Would recommend the shakshuka and eggs california.

Staff were incredibly helpful, finding us a room before check-in time, greeting my son on his 18th birthday with a balloon and beer. Breakfast and bar staff also very helpful, finding space for other family members calling by (food and cocktails both excellent). Hotel itself is in a fine Georgian building only 5m from Waverley, on St Andrew Square, with large comfortable rooms. We were in Edinburgh for a wedding and we had a fantastic stay.

Interior decor is a kind of gaudy black/red that I think reflects their general branding but feels odd in a classic building like this. But is hardly a big deal

We stayed in the hotel for two nights. Upon checking in we were asked if we’d like to change the room cleaning with a drink from their bar. But when the lady found out that it was my sister’s birthday she nicely gave us a free drinks anyway and still had our room done the next day. The staff in the front desk and the bar were all nice. The hotel looks like it’s newly painted so it looks nice and good. However I think our room is a bit dusty so my sister and I had our allergy triggered. Another thing is we asked if we can have a late check out (12pm instead of 11am) and we were charged with £15 per hour. Although it is not a lot I was surprised because I have been in many hotels in the world and a few in Edinburgh too but this is the first time I was charged for an hour of extension or late check out. When it comes to location, I think it is not bad. It is right by St. Andrew’s Square and lots of nice restaurants around. Over all it was not a bad hotel to stay.

Everything -from stepping in the lobby to checkout was amazing! Everything went smoothly also thanks to the most kind and lovely staff. They were able to give us suggestions for parking (you also get a 40% off with their voucher at the nearest parking), to hold our luggage in the storage and help us with all kind of questions, always with a smile on their faces. The hotel is also obviously beautiful, cool design and room with every comfort! And super clean. Particular attention is given to the environment, with eco friendly supplies and waste awareness notes. I highly suggest it for a pit stop in the city while traveling, because we were able to sightsee pretty much everything within walking distance. Again, my compliments to the staff.

That we stayed only one night! We would taken advantage of their happy hour and dining options. They all looked so yummy

The staff were amazing, particularly Anna who helped us check-in a little early (as we arrived in Edinburgh at silly o'clock on the overnight sleeper and it had started to snow!). We were lucky enough to find a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package that suited us - food was great too. Excellent location - so handy for a long weekend - Waverly rail station is a short walk away and there's on open-top bus city tour stop almost outside the front door (also recommended, by the way - BrightBus).

Only thing I can think of (and it's a very personal thing) is that the pillows were rather thin and didn't work for me (ended up adding a cushion)!

Location and the individual rooms were modern and well appointed clean and comfortable

It’s a fabulous old building which means that the elevators didn’t reach every floor and some flights of stairs were involved. I had a lot of luggage, and while there were complex instructions about how to go up on one elevator beyond my floor to come down again by a flight of stairs etc NO ONE asked if they could help me with my baggage. In these “faulty towers” circumstances they should could would have had a baggage handler. No brainer.

We had a lovely stay at Malmaison. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Dara welcomed us and was always there for a chat. She remembered our plans and asked after us. She had also decorated our room as we had just got married which was a lovely touch. It was very easy to get to, we drove but once we had parked we walked everywhere in Edinburgh as it's so easy to get around. All the food we ate was delicious (breakfast and dinner), served quickly and again with a smile. We had a lovely time - thank you!

Nothing major but the bathroom only had shampoo, a bottle of conditioner would be good.
