Staff were excellent with information on what was on in Edinburgh. They were also very attentive to guest requirements

Staff were incredibly helpful, finding us a room before check-in time, greeting my son on his 18th birthday with a balloon and beer. Breakfast and bar staff also very helpful, finding space for other family members calling by (food and cocktails both excellent). Hotel itself is in a fine Georgian building only 5m from Waverley, on St Andrew Square, with large comfortable rooms. We were in Edinburgh for a wedding and we had a fantastic stay.

Interior decor is a kind of gaudy black/red that I think reflects their general branding but feels odd in a classic building like this. But is hardly a big deal

We stayed in the hotel for two nights. Upon checking in we were asked if we’d like to change the room cleaning with a drink from their bar. But when the lady found out that it was my sister’s birthday she nicely gave us a free drinks anyway and still had our room done the next day. The staff in the front desk and the bar were all nice. The hotel looks like it’s newly painted so it looks nice and good. However I think our room is a bit dusty so my sister and I had our allergy triggered. Another thing is we asked if we can have a late check out (12pm instead of 11am) and we were charged with £15 per hour. Although it is not a lot I was surprised because I have been in many hotels in the world and a few in Edinburgh too but this is the first time I was charged for an hour of extension or late check out. When it comes to location, I think it is not bad. It is right by St. Andrew’s Square and lots of nice restaurants around. Over all it was not a bad hotel to stay.

Everything -from stepping in the lobby to checkout was amazing! Everything went smoothly also thanks to the most kind and lovely staff. They were able to give us suggestions for parking (you also get a 40% off with their voucher at the nearest parking), to hold our luggage in the storage and help us with all kind of questions, always with a smile on their faces. The hotel is also obviously beautiful, cool design and room with every comfort! And super clean. Particular attention is given to the environment, with eco friendly supplies and waste awareness notes. I highly suggest it for a pit stop in the city while traveling, because we were able to sightsee pretty much everything within walking distance. Again, my compliments to the staff.

That we stayed only one night! We would taken advantage of their happy hour and dining options. They all looked so yummy

The staff were amazing, particularly Anna who helped us check-in a little early (as we arrived in Edinburgh at silly o'clock on the overnight sleeper and it had started to snow!). We were lucky enough to find a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast package that suited us - food was great too. Excellent location - so handy for a long weekend - Waverly rail station is a short walk away and there's on open-top bus city tour stop almost outside the front door (also recommended, by the way - BrightBus).

Only thing I can think of (and it's a very personal thing) is that the pillows were rather thin and didn't work for me (ended up adding a cushion)!

We had a lovely stay at Malmaison. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Dara welcomed us and was always there for a chat. She remembered our plans and asked after us. She had also decorated our room as we had just got married which was a lovely touch. It was very easy to get to, we drove but once we had parked we walked everywhere in Edinburgh as it's so easy to get around. All the food we ate was delicious (breakfast and dinner), served quickly and again with a smile. We had a lovely time - thank you!

Nothing major but the bathroom only had shampoo, a bottle of conditioner would be good.

Old building on St Andrews Square about 15mins walk from the Royal Mile, castle, etc. Easy walk to St James’ Quarter and Playhouse Theatre. Staff are pleasant, polite and professional, nothing too much trouble. Very clean inside. Rooms are really comfortable and the blackout curtains work a treat! Teas, coffees etc in the room are all of really good quality and the beds are so large and comfortable you simply don’t want to get out of them!!

Drinks in the hotel bar are on the expensive side. 4 drinks cost £63 (inc £7 service charge). Thats 2 x 250ml Pinot Noir and 2 x Double G&T.

The hotel was just wonderful! The perfect location for our Christmas-market-week to Edinburgh! Close to/in the center of town, tram and bus stops at the square! Wonderful staff from reception, to restaurant, to breakfast to bar! We felt most welcome and would most certainly come back when staying in town! Big room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and Arran soaps and things... what more could we have wanted!

No negative point, just a suggestion: some cheeses and cold cuts at the breakfast buffet would be something we would appreciate.

At breakfast I asked waiter to ask a customer to turn down his phone. That waiter walked straight passed annoying customer. Other customers were also looking at annoying one. A lady waitress came up to me said, she could not ask this customer to quiet his phone as he was a customer also. Get what I mean? So an annoying customer whom others were distracted by has more importance to the hotel than the respectful ones. ?? If I use your hotel again I will not eat in your restaurant.

Loved the location of this hotel, very central and close to waverley train station. Also being dog friendly was amazing. The dog is £25 to stay but you get a little doggy bag, with a ball and treats and a deodorising spray. We were also given a bed with a mat with water and food bowls. Being close to St Andrew's Square was good to take the dog for a walk, although, if your dog likes grass, the park is closed though from 8pm until 7am. So you may have to walk a little further to find a stretch of grass between these times. Yes our dog likes grass! The hotel is very close to Rose Street which boasts a lot of dog friendly pubs, Abbotsford, Robertsons, and Black Rose (after kitchen is closed though). Other dog pubs, Black Bull and Guilford Arms. The hotel room was very spacious and clean. Was extremely comfortable beds and it must be triple glazing as it was quiet given we were next to a busy road. The lounge area was very inviting and you could sit there with the dog, we enjoyed a coffee there.

Being a dog friendly hotel was slighty annoying we couldn't use the hotel bar or go to the grill. We have stayed in other dog friendly hotels where access is unlimited, and your dog can go literally everywhere where you can. Room Service is not 24hrs. I called reception at midnight and the outcome was the result (we did get the bottle of wine), but I was told what was not offered, I.e. the kitchen was closed, the bar was closed and there was a vending machine for beer. To be fair, when I said what is was I wanted we did receive it in the roundabout way.
