We attended The Fringe Festival. This location was perfect. Most of the Fringe locations were 5 or 10 min walks. The room was well designed. Just enough that we weren't on top of each other but not big enough that we could have a party 😀 The bonus was the food and the gym! The breakfast buffet is very accommodating to food issues. There is something for everyone. There are tons of restaurants to explore in the area. We never had a bad meal, and several were surprisingly excellent. The gym was larger than I expected. A lot of weight and acrobatic equipment .. thank you!!

The gym could use a few more hand weights. It would have been nice to have towels in the gym. But I'm being picky.

A wonderful hotel - perfect location for the Fringe with lots of venues on the doorstep and a short walk from other Edinburgh highlights. We walked from Waverley Station and it took about 12 minutes with cases. Got an Uber back which cost £8.50 and took about 4 mins. The hotel was spotless with a lovely modern interior. We got a lovely warm welcome from the reception team and although we arrived early they got our room ready and let us check in. The room was very spacious and very comfortable- my one and only criticism being the frosted bathroom door- I much prefer a solid door but maybe that’s just me?! We ordered room service one evening which came very quickly and was delicious! The breakfast buffet was extensive. All staff that we met were very friendly and helpful.

The staff were lovely, very polite and helpful. The room was spacious and bed linen was crisp and clean. As one would expect biscuits and tea/coffee/ hot chocolate making facilities in the room which were enjoyed. The hotel was perfectly situated right in the Surgeons Quarter which for me was ideal for what I wanted to do at the Fringe and within walking distance of the Castle.

Lovely big TV screen but it was so complicated you would need to be a TV engineer to actually get to the TV programme section every time it was turned on. Not at all user friendly. So annoying as every time you turned it on it took ages to get to the right area. This needs to be simplified. The helpful gentleman on Reception came up to guide me through the complexities. Disappointed even though I had been upgraded to a superior room, there was no convenient bottled water ( tap water was available from the bar). Also no dressing gown or slippers in the room. For the price of the room this niceity should have been as standard.

Found out once we went to dinner there was a scaled down menu, one online had looked lovely, with same options for both lunch & dinner. When pre booking our dinner table was informed that earliest we could have a table was 7.40 as they were very busy, arrived to find only two other couples in restaurant. Apart from breakfast time restaurant seemed to be very under used. With so much competition in Edinburgh maybe that should be looked at. Do understand them going green but in 4* hotel wouldn't expect to have to ask to be provided with toiletries, it's part of what you pay for.

A 3 minute walk away from The Pleasance, the hotel is also just around the corner from many, many restaurant options and a short walk away from all the main Edinburgh sites, museums, and Waverly train station. The in-room wifi was extremely fast and reliable, and the flat screen TV had plenty of options. Room service delivered quickly and was high quality. The bar on the main floor was always open for espresso at any hour, and my room was quiet and bed comfortable. I would stay here again.

While my room had a small fridge, a microwave would have been a nice touch to reheat take-away food.

te location was wonderful, facing the University of Edinburgh in an active student neighborhood, and only a few minutes walk to the mid point of the road known as the Royal Mile that terminates at the Castle.The bathroom shower area was excellent, with large and thick towels, and instant hot water in the shower. And the breakfast was exceptional, not only including a range of fruits and cheeses and the usual breakfast offerings, but also including the option to request eggs cooked to order and cappuccino or flat white coffee if desired. All was provided in a choice of lovely dining areas staffed by ready and friendly staff.

The staff were so kind, from the moment we arrived until we left. They were welcoming and friendly, always had recommendations for us. The room was super comfortable and clean. Spacious and with nice beds. The TV is a bit too small for the large rooms but who cares! Location is perfect, we basically walked everywhere, except for a few points that were further away. The breakfast was great but I wish there was more variety for vegetarians. There are some vegetarian sausages and eggs but that’s about it protein wise. They make the coffee for you and you can make fresh pancakes, which is so fun. The food from the restaurant was also great. Shout out to Alex, who was so kind every morning during breakfast, with lots to talk about and always with a smile!

Nothing to report aside from the small TV and wishing for more vegetarian options for breakfast.

The receptionist was so helpful. I was not happy with the window-view room that was given when I entered the room. Looking out to a building with boarded up windows! I went and spoke to the receptionist who explained that as I requested a high floor in a quiet area with a view, the hotel could not meet all my requests.(Fair enough comments.) She did then offer two other rooms. One was perfect, with a beautiful view, but it was right next to the lift! Did I hear any internal noise, lifts opening and shutting, banging of doors, loud next door occupants? Not at all! I can honestly say one of the quietest rooms we have ever stayed in. My partner loved the fact we came out of the door and were near the lift, just perfect!

Double bed size was too small. Some hotels say double, but they have king-size. Saying that the room would have been tight with a king size to be fair. The heating was a little odd, hot at night and cool during the day, but overall it was ok.

Room had air con and a fridge in the room which was appreciated during mini heat wave Scotland was experiencing during our stay. It was well furnished with excellent shower. For some reason we were initially allocated a disabled access room. This had a sink at height for wheelchair users as was shower. On return to reception staff allocated us a standard room which was met our needs. It was good to see local products for tea/coffee making as well as shortbread.

Cooked breakfast buffet, some items appeared to have sat for a while on hot plate so were dry and hard.
