The Bonham is classic elegance and charm. The facilities have had transitions throughout the years (even was a maternity residence at one time), and now it welcomes visitors from all over the world. The street is close to many attractions, for example, heading to Edinburgh Castle is around fifteen to twenty-minute walk, and the neighborhoods are so pretty. The breakfast is excellent. The one thing we'll point out is that the hotel had a 'lift' (elevator) problem. The floors are steep (the first floor alone is fifty-five-BIG-steps), so our room was ninety-nine-steps up to the fourth floor. Good workout ! What was impressive was watching their dedicated staff place three (3) of our fifty-pound suitcases on their shoulders and hoisting them up the four floors. They were positive and genuinely sweet as they accomplished this task. The owners gave us a few drinks, "on-the-house," to help us with our stair workout, and we considerate and kind. I didn't like that the lift was out and their repair person was taking their time. The hotel was constantly in contact with the repair people and I'm certain they were quite frustrated with the numerous complaints about climbing stairs. (We were only concerned about luggage and felt it a good workout).

Short walk from New Town, lovely authentic charm, good size room , easy parking on property

Initially being put in basement room and being told that the hotel was full!, staff lied or tried to deceive us at first though Booking.com suggested otherwise. Once moved we were very happy, if you want a view don’t accept basement rooms.

Our room was lovely. Coffee machine and kettle for making tea, mini fridge with a bottle of complimentary water and milk. Bed was remade every day and towels folded neatly in bathroom. There was an iron and ironing board, plenty of coat hangers in wardrobe, sewing kit, shoe polisher, toiletries, hairdryer, a comfy chair and stool, table and dressing table and chair. A small bag of biscuits were placed on the bed and a small chocolate square on both pillows every morning after that when room was cleaned. On arrival staff very pleasant and a porter took our luggage up to our room on a luggage trolley. Breakfast was 7.30 til 10.30 which is ample time and the service is excellent. You are made to feel special. The hotel has kept its traditional style and very tastefully decorated. It definitely deserves its five stars. There is parking charged at £20 per day.

We had the room with beautiful view overlooking the Dean Village greens & river. The room was clean and specious, nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom kept in original design which maybe not so convenient but we thought it is lovely imagining the past history of the building. Those complimentary coffee/tea and daily cute snacks we found in the room made our stay relaxing and comfortable. We enjoyed our breakfast in the restaurant, the beautiful dining room. From the moment we arrived at the hotel i was impressed by the building and the welcome we received. The public areas of the hotel and room itself were decorated in a very classy style and the hotel was immaculate in terms of presentation and cleanliness. We only had breakfast at the the hotel on 2 days but the menu choice was excellent and the quality of the food was first class.

I find it hard to be critical at all, but if i was being picky I would have liked a slightly larger en suite bathroom with the room. The bathroom we had was immaculately clean there just wasnt much space to sit out toileteries etc

We had a wonderful stay at the Bonham Hotel in Edinburgh. The location is perfect—tucked away in a quiet, charming neighborhood, yet still within easy walking distance of the city center. The hotel itself is a beautiful property full of character and history, and our room was incredibly spacious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic each morning, with a great variety of delicious options, and the staff throughout the hotel were exceptionally friendly and engaging—always ready to help with a smile. We’d definitely recommend the Bonham and would love to return!

The only downside was that our room was located directly below the restaurant, so we could hear some noise from chairs being moved above us, which was a bit disruptive at times. Still, this was a small issue in an otherwise excellent stay.

Beautiful property, comfy beds. Our room was really lovely and overlooked the city. The staff were amazing and spoilt my husband as it was his 70th birthday. We had birthday balloons, chocolates and a glass of bubbly from staff! Breakfast was lovely too, really yummy and in beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful. Absolutely stunning hotel. Also within easy reach of the centre and surrounding area. Perfect location as it was away from the hustle and bustle so it was quiet but then you coujd get to everything with a 10 minute walk! Perfect!

The hotel is in a good location, easily walkable to the main attractions and city centre. The room was fully kitted out with radio, coffee machine they even squeezed a desk and table into the small space albeit a bit unnecessarily! Everything you need for a stay was included (iron, shoehorn, clothes brush, toiletries, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, slippers, robe)

Not all rooms have views, the basement room we were allocated was (a bit) disappointing compared to the description of all rooms having a view. The room was small but was fine for one night, but it was really warm due to the radiators being on and no way to turn them off. There was a fan in the room that helped. I am being critical due to the rating of the hotel, I would stay again but request a different room as it was a bit disappointing for the price.

The breakfast at The Bonham was excellent everything you could want and the Staff were exceptionally helpful to your needs. The location was a little bit away from Princes Street, but this was good, but you need to be fairly fit to keep walking. Having said that the Taxi service was exceptional and VFM. Our room was beautiful and the building was amazing, so much history.

Cannot think of anything we didn't like, if we had to be critical I would say the bathroom was a bit tight to get into, but that wasn't really a problem at all.

A beautiful period property, oozing charm and sophistication from its many original features. The hotel is perfectly located in the West End district of Edinburgh, close to cafes and bars and within 15 minutes walk of the main tourist sites. It's also well placed for the Stockbridge district with its many attractive streets, crescents and cafes/restaurants and cosy pubs. Ours was an elegant twin-bedded room with a fabulous picture window overlooking the green. Bathroom products and tea/coffee facilities were beyond expectation and very good quality. Friendly, professional staff added a great finishing touch!

A minor point but the window didn't open, so we needed to run the electric fan all night.
