Daniel who helps run the hotel, when needs .ust, was a very engaging guy who made us very welcome. The eve meals unfortunately were not available as the owners were away. But under 2 mins walk away was a great indian restaurant, as this hotel is within easy walk to town & amenities. Me & my wife would like to personally thank Daniel for putting up with us!!! The perfect host! Breakfast was delicious & also spot on & nothing was too much to ask. Had a walk around the garden after breakfast which was like a secret oasis & very pleasant. Thanks again Daniel (& the lady who made breakfast)!

This is a hotel like all hotels should be. The building is comfortable, the gardens relaxing to wander around. The staff are friendly and attentive, professional and calm. Most of all, though, the restaurant is exceptional - we had dinner and breakfast and both were superb. It's very rare to come across food that's well prepared in every detail ... our breakfast eggs benedict were a case in point with smooth, rich hollondaise and lovely, salty ham.

Not too thrilled at the see-through glass door on the bathroom/loo ... though I do get that it's often done these days.

Very good breakfast, friendly & helpful staff, room (bridal suite!) had comfortable four poster bed, large screen tv, table and two chairs, and was well supplied with large towels & toiletries, walk in shower, separate large bath, and separate loo & double wash basin area. Pleasant garden.

Disconcerted by semi-transparent door to loo & basins area. Visually interesting cups and saucers (looked like china handbags) but square shape meant difficult to drink from! Disappointed that restaurant was not open evening we stayed, although receptionist happy to suggest other options - nearby restaurants/meal delivery.

The location was good but there was traffic sounds(to be expected where the hotel is located) which we aren't used to as we live out in the country but it wasn't a problem. The gardens were lovely. the staff charming. We checked out too early for breakfast so cannot comment but our supper (served in the garden) was delicious and freshly prepared. The hosts were helpful and friendly and the hotel nicely decorated and very clean.

We had no problems at all and were only there for one night

The property has a beautiful garden and is a stunning property, with a very welcoming entrance area. I’d been placed in a room more suited to my needs - getting ready for my wedding - at no extra cost. There was also a huge mirror to use. I was also offered a bacon butty in my room. The staff did bend over backwards to help. The room was comfortable, the bedding felt lovely and I slept very well.

In the bathroom there was a notice asking not to put anything but toilet paper into the toilet but no sanitary bin for disposal any other way. The only bin was in the main room and had no lid. I thought the room could have benefitted from more period style art work. The bright red clashed with the subtle grey wallpaper, as did the brown cushions.

We loved that the staff were very friendly and welcoming and went above to accommodate my having to be on crutches, this having happened since initial booking

It would be helpful to mention in the description that due to age of property there is no lift available, it was only thanks to the owner that we were able to use the disabled room at the last minute.

The room was excellent, spacious, comfortable and clean. I did have to unplug the mini fridge but after that had a great nights sleep. Staff were happy to help with anything I asked about.

There wasn’t much on the menu at the restaurant for vegans. But talking to staff they made sure I got a lovely breakfast. Landings and stairs to the rooms were a bit creaky so could hear people passing at night/in the morning but a minor minor thing, didn’t wake me up or stop me sleeping!

I booked for one night and they had a secure space for my motorbike. This was unexpected and very much appreciated. The hotel is going through a refurbishment and the room was one of those that had been updated. It was well thought out and charming. The garden was lovely and a great place to sip on a beer from the bar. I was made very welcome and will definitely stay there again when I am in the area.

Dot is a fabulous host and the food was delicious! Lovely clean bedroom and nice location away from the town centre but only a 5 min walk in. Breakfast was great with lots of options and snacks to take away for the day. Mini fridge in bedroom too.

I found a wee bug in my bed, but I just popped it out the window and it was all good. Bugs do appear from time to time and it isn't a mark on the cleanliness of the hotel.

The accessibility features of this room were excellent. It was on the ground floor with a wet room and a separate disabled toilet. The hotel has an old fashioned stately home feel about it and the room was in keeping with this. Big comfy bed and full mod cons with cable TV. Generous breakfast, continental and cooked. Lovely gardens.

We had a nice overnight stay and had no negatives.
