Decent room with a brand new bathroom. Room basic but freshly painted and new carpets too. Floor 1 has had bathrooms renovated so bare that in mind when you book. Breakfast hot and plentiful, asked for butter and they appeared back within minutes to restock. Booked Afternoon Tea as a Mothers Day treat, was lovely and fresh served in the beautiful ballroom.

When looking at some of the bad reviews I was a bit worried, however the hotel exceeded my expectations. My room was on the 5th floor, so in the "cheap end" - however it was not run down and everything worked fine. The hotel must have been spectacular during its heyday, and the main public rooms still show the former glory. I was wondering why there were not many people there, as I thoroughly enjoyed sitting and working there in the evening, listening to nice soothing classical music. The check-in was fast and the staff were friendly. (The people in line before me had problems, as they did not have any ID with them, but it must be noted, that the hotel had sent me an information well before that the ID will be required.) I particularly liked the kind night porter with whom I had a good chat about the history of the hotel, and who gave me a booklet with more information. Cheers!

Walls are quite thin, so that one can witness what the neighbours are up to late at nigh, which I would have preferred not to know. Luckily for me (and not for the lady) it was over soon. Ahh, yes, and two separate taps for the sink in this day and age ...

Very Good central location. Room was clean and comfortable and everything you need. Was made homeless stayed here for 2 weeks couldn't fault it. Its not the ritz but it's got everything you need Bed bath and toilet. Would stay again. Restaurant is OK buffet you find something just same food on menu every day

Feel sorry why this hotel gets slated so much. Yes it is basic and old but great value for money.

I actually loved the faded grandeur. I am sure many hotels would not let the room I had in that state but for me it added to the uniqueness. And The wardrobe/ cupboard was fantastic being reminiscent of a proper linen press of 100 years ago. Honestly I love the fact that it has not been modernised and updated. It has a slight old world colonial feel about it. It’s not anonymous like most hotels. However, If you want a modern bathroom with no flaking paint, and no emergency temporary tatty tape around the wc this room would not be for you but it made ME smile. Reception staff were great. I met a cleaning lady as I left and she was friendly. Location is good and there is a very convenient car park

It was a shame that there was no decent coffee at breakfast and I probably would not bother with breakfast again.

Once again I had an overnight stay at the Adelphi . In fact I’m booked for Monday evening also . The Adelphi is always my 1st choice for a midweek stay if I have an early train from lime street station . Room was again spotlessly clean , always a hint of faded grandeur but bed was comfy , sheets crisp , room was quite large . Decent view from my window . Bath was nice & deep , water warm . Plenty of good towels & tea & coffee . All in all a good stay !

Nothing really - I did get a strange door in that I opened the first door & there was another behind that which made it look like the room had been blocked off but once I pushed on it opened up into a decent room . It wasn’t a problem just I didn’t know about it .

Great hotel and location. With easy online check in few days before which saved a lot of queuing time on arrival. Room was so spacious and had everything we needed with what looked like a newly refurbished bathroom however no mirror in bathroom which was disappointing. Car park at rear of hotel which we were given free of charge instead of the £13 nightly charge. Check in staff was great, very easy and efficient.

Information regarding parking would have been helpful up front. Decor in room had peeling paint all around room but didn't affect stay No mirror in bathroom Minimal plug sockets

Our 1st time to Liverpool! Stayed 3 nights at this Beautiful old Historic Hotel. Arrived late on a Friday night due to flight being delayed. Reception staff checked us in very fast. We booked a Superior Double Room which exceeded our expectations, room was just beautiful & located on the 2nd floor. Bed was very comfy & the Breakfast was lovely. The location was fantastic right in the centre of everything, some great night life nearby & the Liverpudlians are the friendliest of people. Highly recommend doing the bus tours of the city & the Beatles Tour. Also attended a record fair in the hotel which was fantastic! Already planning another stay here 😊

Very hot water in the shower, couldn't cool it down & the window wouldn't open. A few hooks in the bathroom to hang towels would be good, but these are just minor things & would no way put me off staying here again

The last time we stayed at the Adelphi was about 20 years ago, and due to the reviews we have never returned. When we decided to stay there on Saturday night we were absolutely thrilled that we did ! Our superior room was fantastic ! Clean, well decorated and furnished with a great bathroom and a really good shower. The staff were really friendly as well. We unfortunately left without breakfast but we will definitely be returning in the future to sample it as the Adelphi is definitely our hotel of choice in Liverpool. As it was a Saturday night we were worried about the noise but we had a good nights sleep, which was really surprising.

Location great, beds comfortable. Staff were excellent, amazing staircase and lounge area next to lobby. Restaurant was clean and efficient

However. Bathroom was very disappointing. Hot sink tap didn't work. Paint falling off door and ceiling. Bath very yellow at bottom looked like it needed clean. Plug didn't fit well in bath, needed to put foot over to hold it in place. Cold tap kept falling off in bath. No extra pillows in room. Could do with mini fridge as milk sachets were stingy in their portions, although when asking at reception, we were supplied with whatever we asked for including an extension lead as no plugs near bed and I had a cpap machine to use.

We stayed in a superior room 179 on first floor with a view. Was more like a bedroom with a whole other living room was so big and high ceilings,beautifully decorated and the old wood built in wardrobs and dressing table absolutely stunning 😍 Slept very well nice big comfortable bed and tv was a 42inch with Chestfield couch and 2 chairs for seating. Bathroom was in a separate room which was also big and had bath and shower plenty of hot water no issues there.Breakfast was good plenty to choose from nice bacon and sausage.Fresh fruit would be better and more coffee machines as only seen one

The only thing that let's this beautiful hotel down is the men on the steps outside drinking,taking drugs,fighting etc. Asbo should be applied so that nobody can gather and drink etc or security guards employed
