Decent room with a brand new bathroom. Room basic but freshly painted and new carpets too. Floor 1 has had bathrooms renovated so bare that in mind when you book. Breakfast hot and plentiful, asked for butter and they appeared back within minutes to restock. Booked Afternoon Tea as a Mothers Day treat, was lovely and fresh served in the beautiful ballroom.

When looking at some of the bad reviews I was a bit worried, however the hotel exceeded my expectations. My room was on the 5th floor, so in the "cheap end" - however it was not run down and everything worked fine. The hotel must have been spectacular during its heyday, and the main public rooms still show the former glory. I was wondering why there were not many people there, as I thoroughly enjoyed sitting and working there in the evening, listening to nice soothing classical music. The check-in was fast and the staff were friendly. (The people in line before me had problems, as they did not have any ID with them, but it must be noted, that the hotel had sent me an information well before that the ID will be required.) I particularly liked the kind night porter with whom I had a good chat about the history of the hotel, and who gave me a booklet with more information. Cheers!
Walls are quite thin, so that one can witness what the neighbours are up to late at nigh, which I would have preferred not to know. Luckily for me (and not for the lady) it was over soon. Ahh, yes, and two separate taps for the sink in this day and age ...

Very Good central location. Room was clean and comfortable and everything you need. Was made homeless stayed here for 2 weeks couldn't fault it. Its not the ritz but it's got everything you need Bed bath and toilet. Would stay again. Restaurant is OK buffet you find something just same food on menu every day
Feel sorry why this hotel gets slated so much. Yes it is basic and old but great value for money.

Spacious room, comfortable bed, excellent cleanliness, and attentive staff. Perfect location, just a five-minute walk from the train station and close to many tourist attractions. The bathroom was renovated, with an excellent shower and good water pressure. The breakfast, which was not included in our booking, is very well served and reasonably priced.
The bathroom was renovated but lacked a mirror during the first days, had no bath mat—which made the floor wet after showering—and had few hooks for towels and clothes. One of the towel racks was loose. I also suggest installing grab bars in the shower. The breakfast hours could be more flexible, as it ends at 9:30 AM, which we found a bit early, especially for those who prefer to rest without rushing.

We stayed for six days and after a few days we were starting to get a little fed up with a full English breakfast I know being English and not enjoying a breakfast I think we need to hand in our English Passports but we stayed strong and had a good breakfast everyday
It was good some of the other guests were a bit loud but that's what get it's a city hotel is like but the people in the room opposite from us smoking weed was a bit much even if they were smoking out of a window you expect to smell it in the city but the hotel staff were not too pleased when we told them about it and when we got back later it was all sorted and no weed smell

I actually loved the faded grandeur. I am sure many hotels would not let the room I had in that state but for me it added to the uniqueness. And The wardrobe/ cupboard was fantastic being reminiscent of a proper linen press of 100 years ago. Honestly I love the fact that it has not been modernised and updated. It has a slight old world colonial feel about it. It’s not anonymous like most hotels. However, If you want a modern bathroom with no flaking paint, and no emergency temporary tatty tape around the wc this room would not be for you but it made ME smile. Reception staff were great. I met a cleaning lady as I left and she was friendly. Location is good and there is a very convenient car park
It was a shame that there was no decent coffee at breakfast and I probably would not bother with breakfast again.

We stayed in room 461 which had a new bathroom, lovely shower, large bedroom comfy chairs and twin beds. So clean not a bit of dust, The gorgeous area downstairs loved the classic music and deco and so many choices of seating areas. We enjoyed the relaxing American cocktail bar Great choice and value of cocktails. Our 5th visit in 3 years, it's just a brilliant hotel to stay in it feels like we are home from pleasant helpful staff we dropped off our bags early and housekeeping seen every morning and gave us extra supply of towels and milk they do not enter your room during your stay. We used the fan for some nights of our stay really helped and had the window opened both of us had great nights sleep well we're at the back of the hotel no noise. Lovely spacious room and comfy twin beds and new bathroom, brilliant hotel.
Need a mirror in the bathroom and to have a note about how hot the water gets. Everything else perfect.

The breakfast was buffet-style, which is the best because you can choose whatever you like. There was a great selection to choose from, with various fruit, yogurt, assorted cereals, muffins, a wide selection of cooked foods (sausages, bacon, eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, etc) as well as bread (with self service toaster optional) tea, coffee and fruit juices. All very tasty and in plentiful supply. I would also like to add that the staff were very helpful and friendly. On the day we checked out, we had some time to spare before our journey home, so we left our luggage in the hotel and went to the Anfield Stadium tour. Whilst there, I received a phone call from a member of the Adelphi Hotel's staff, to tell me that the cleaner had found my Passport in the room we'd stayed in, I had forgotten that I put it in a drawer. I am so grateful to the staff for finding it and ensuring its safe return to me.
I will begin by saying that the bathroom was lovely, very clean and modern, I'm guessing it was recently renovated. The only problem was the shower; the water was either too cold or scalding hot, and no amount of time spent adjusting it made any difference. Admittedly I did not bring it to the attention of the hotel staff during my stay, I just had quick cold showers, and as the weather was quite warm it was OK. I'm sure all that's needed is a minor adjustment by a plumber to fix this issue.

The hotel is ideally situated close to the main railway station and bus routes. The grand entrance opens to a beautiful foyer which directs you into the opulent banqueting lounge. Many of the fittings are original Edwardian and unspoilt. The room was spotless and neatly laid out. Breakfast is provided in 2 grand rooms and contains everything that one could possibly want. A special mention must go to all staff who maintained a friendly, attentive service in spite of several coach loads of customers. I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.
I cannot think of a single negative comment to make. This is a traditional hotel with old-fashioned values.

Once again I had an overnight stay at the Adelphi . In fact I’m booked for Monday evening also . The Adelphi is always my 1st choice for a midweek stay if I have an early train from lime street station . Room was again spotlessly clean , always a hint of faded grandeur but bed was comfy , sheets crisp , room was quite large . Decent view from my window . Bath was nice & deep , water warm . Plenty of good towels & tea & coffee . All in all a good stay !
Nothing really - I did get a strange door in that I opened the first door & there was another behind that which made it look like the room had been blocked off but once I pushed on it opened up into a decent room . It wasn’t a problem just I didn’t know about it .
