45 minutes to use swimming, sauna, and steam room facilities is not enough. All hotels we've stayed in, only did this during covid times and had moved on since. There's no time to access, sauna, steam room, swim in the 45 minutes allowed. Staff will keep asking you to leave and will give you a verbal warning that you have 5 minutes left to swim. Have not experienced this in other hotels, only during the Covid-19 pandemic this restriction of timings happened - which is nearly 5 years ago now.

The Voco Hotel was nothing short of fantastic. From check-in, it was clear this hotel prioritises guest satisfaction. The room was well-appointed, offering a perfect blend of style and comfort. The staff were attentive, friendly, and eager to help with any requests or questions. Their dedication to ensuring a smooth and pleasant stay did not go unnoticed. The variety and quality of the breakfast offerings were excellent, with fresh, delicious options that catered to different tastes. Family Suite was large, and comfortably catered for the 5 of us, bathroom was also a good size. Beds were probably the most comfortable hotel beds we've slept on. Food and drink was OK, if a little over priced. Despite being a match day, drove to and parked OK (free), and this also didn't impact our stay too much. Breakfast (included) was a good variety and tasty. Loads of options, especially with kids, although the fresh fruit wasn't quite. The kids enjoyed the Easter hunt laid on around the reception/communal areas.

Staff were a little 'distant', and not particularly friendly. Got completely ignored by two waiters just because we weren't their allocated table. Servers also kept clearing plates as soon as that person had finished eating, despite others at the table still finishing. 12.5% service charge automatically added to food bill. This is just a personal bugbear of mine. A tip should be offered and earned, not just taken, especially when the service is not particularly up to scratch. You shouldn't have to ask to have a tip removed from a bill. It smacks of somewhere that knows they wouldn't be tipped if they didn't add it themselves, which equals bad service. WiFi was intermittent in room, dropping out several times.

The family room was very spacious and perfect for a family of four. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly 🙂 a big shout out to the kitchen manager and the kitchen staff, they gave us free breakfast after hearing about our rough 3 night ordeal with some awful young footballers that was staying next to our room.

I quite like the property. I would’ve given this hotel a score of 10 but for 3 night’s straight my family and I were harassed by a bunch of teenagers that was staying right next to our room and I complained several times to the reception that the kids were pounding on our room door and running away screaming and laughing loudly late into the night, and though reception did come up to speak to the kids several times, I felt that by night two of being disturbed the reception should’ve moved them to another room.

Good location for the Jazz club, just a short walk around the stadium. Staff were friendly & helpful 😀 Parking , even on match day (Reading v Stevenage ) is Free. Not enough hotels offer this . Strongly recommend/ suggest check in well before kick-off , during or at least 30 mins before full time. Two couples got caught up in tempary road closures and had to sit for 30mins whilst the stadium tipped out, no biggie but worth knowing 😀

Don’t know about Breakfast because I’d overindulge the night before, was still on me head in the morning…in fact took me all day to right meself 😂😂😜

Superb facilities, friendly, helpful staff always going that extra step to make one’s stay more enjoyable! Immaculately clean, the spacious rooms boast comfortable air conditioning and delightful rainfall showers. But as always in the best of hotels, it is superb service which best complements excellent facilities. And the staff there have got that cracked. Every single staff team member I met clearly took the time to do at least one thing that went the extra mile to make my stay more enjoyable. Little things like ensuring I stayed in the same room as I had enjoyed before. Decorating my favourite gin and tonic with an abundance of lime and adding a cocktail umbrella to the glass. A humorous gesture as if to tell me that my presence at the bar had made their day better. Voco, whoever selects your staff deserves a medal. But those staff deserve many more such medals. Thank you.

Very comfortable beds and big rooms. Renovated swimming pool with warm water. Good breakfast. Quiet. Location good, but only if you are by car. Daily refilled drinking water bottles. The room was well prepared, equipped with baby cot which we asked during reservation process.

We were lucky because on our arrival there was first day of swimming pool reopen, but there was no info on temporary closure during reservation process.... and swimming pool was one of the most important in hotel selection. There was no clock on the swimming pool, the reservation process of swimming pool should be more modern (e.g. mail, web form, mobile app). One day after late arrival there were no bottles with drinking water in room (somebody took used one and forgot to put refiled).

Staff helped to facilitate an early check in and couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. Location was central, hotel was beautifully presented as was our room, immaculately clean throughout. The shower was really luxurious and beds were some of the comfiest I’ve stayed in. Room was a great size and had all amenities you could want. The swimming pool was lovely and leisure area and changing facilities were also cleaned to the highest standard. Breakfast was 10/10 with every option and more. This is not a 4* hotel, I have stayed in 5* hotels that didn’t compare to this.

Been before under different names, notice the change before and after are amazing to see. Looks more modern and cleaner. After all this time they remembered my last stay and gave us the room which we were pleased to stay in... The restaurant was amazing, and the breakfast was amazing . Also, the pool and sauna, too.. great customer service. Brilliant stay, definitely coming back .

From a driving point of view , the signs to accommodation need to be visible from the main roads leading up...so easy to get lost if you're not from local area .

Great facilities and friendly pool staff.

There were children running all over the bar area running around, climbing and shouting. The staff did not do anything or ask the parents to control them. Please note we were also traveling with young children and so not being a grump, I have not and will never let my children behave in this manner! Resulted in us taking our drinks to the room and ordering room service. Also met a member of bar staff in the toilet who did not clean their hands before returning to work!
