Before our stay, was able to designate a specific room. Dee, the Hotel manager, is very professional, very personable. and knowledge about his hotel history and the amenities offered surrounding the hotel. The food/beverage area, the bartender exhibited amazing customer service. The tacos were very delicious, and the flavorings of the beverages was superb. Mchael, the Ghost Investigating staff member, provided a thorough understanding of the history of spiritual observation, the use of the equipment, and the hands-on direction that allowed my wife and myself to enjoy and obtain an outstanding, fulfilling, and non-scary ghost hunt. Yes, we did document the presence of multiple spirits in the hotel dining room. Terrific experience!!!

Not a darn thing. We are coming back very soon!!!

Breakfast was simple and basic. Some fruit, toast with jam & butter. No other condiments. Some muffins (too sweet... but that is the overall USA problem). Coffee, tea. Cereal & milk. It was nice to sit in the courtyard instead of the breakfast room. Rooms were nice, clean. No carpets :) New showers and well functioning. Large bathroom. Liked the public transport accessibility. Very convenient location.

The room was facing outwards, not the courtyard, and therefore could hear the traffic. For a short stay ok. To access the hotel needed to call, thereafter was easy to access.

Dee was most welcoming and gave us lots of useful local information. Room and bed were very comfortable and we had a good nights rest. We did have the complimentary coffee and pastry the next morning which was much appreciated, thank you. We enjoyed reading the room reviews from previous guests which all gave more atmosphere and history. This is a historic gem and if you like that kind of thing then you will love this place - we did.

The charm of this hotel is that it is old and characterful. Don’t set your expectations for a TV or flashy decor or you will be disappointed. We really liked this place because it didn’t have those things.

We loved the quirkyness of the historic building, the location was excellent and the staff were great.

Our check-in was complicated because Dee (the manager) had tried to contact us in advance but we didn't have internet connection whilst we were travelling. We resolved this easily with the help of the restaurant manager from the hotel's sister company. (which was also a great place to eat!)

The hotel was a vision. It has been beautifully restored and maintained. I heard people say it's like staying in a museum and they couldn't be more right. Dee is a wonderful manager and started off our anniversary weekend in the most charming way. We made our trip all about Old Town and walked everywhere. It was a great way to really soak in the rich history of the area. Beds were incredibly comfortable!

The blinds on one of the windows did not cover the entire window. Felt a little self conscious to have a very clear view into our room. We used a sheet to cover the gap.

excellent perfect location, restaurants 100yds away, beautiful courtyard and manager staff super, helping us with a few special problems, including icepacks for injury incurred previous to arrival. 10 min from Zoo and 10 min from Seaworld. We will be back for sure. Highlight, since what everyone wants is good people running the show.. Don't like leaving comments on good places, want to keep them for myself. Really. but feel obliged as staff was top shelf.

Dee is an absolute PLEASURE to deal with. He is so knowledgeable about the property. We came in on a very late flight and he sent me a message with step by step directions on how to get in and get to my room! My husband and I were only in town for the day and we didn’t rent a car as we were just going to explore old town and he even allowed us to keep our suitcase at the hotel so we could look around without having to lug it. The room with the wooden tub was gorgeous. If you have the chance to stay here, do it!

Everything was up to par. We couldn’t have asked for a better place or host. We will be back! It is pricey though!

Ghouls, ghosts and Mr. Dean!! Wonderful stay!! Amazing vintage rooms with there fair share of ghostly energy. Huge porcelain bathtub, comfortable beds and so much to do within walking distance. Check in was easy and the property felt very secure! I loved the privacy provided. The interior courtyard was gorgeous with fresh fruit trees, birds and butterflies… The continental breakfast provided was very nice. The hotel provided good items to grab in the AM!! Coffee, bagels and plenty more. I would stay here again in a second!!! Thank you!!!!

The restaurant was still closed … wah wah

Old western charm in Old Town Park, surrounded by history, great food and close to train and light rail minutes from downtown. Friendly staff, decent continental breakfast. Historic wood structure over adobe, but clean, fresh linens, comfortable and good indoor air quality that did not aggravate allergies.

Entry was hard to find. Reception desk inside a fenced courtyard. Look for a rustic wood wall with gate between hotel and blacksmith sign. Call for innkeeper to let you in.

Besides the amazing history and paranormal activity from the moment we stepped foot on the property we were greeted by Dee the manager who was the kindest most welcoming hotel manager I’ve ever had. He took the time to answer all of my 9 year olds questions about the ghost encounters, history and other stories. The grounds are peaceful, only 10 rooms so you don’t encounter too many people when there, we stayed in room 4/5 which was great, everything old and authentic, no tvs! Super big and comfy bed. The wrap around porch on the hotel overlooks the shops and restaurants of old town San Diego. Breakfast is included, it’s a light breakfast. Bagels, muffins, cereal, yogurt, coffee and juices. We experienced some paranormal activity in our room, lights flickering, orbs in photos, heard foot steps on the porch at 1 am and no one was there, heard a little girl laughing at the same time.

Considering the historical past and that the hotel is trying to preserve that I think they captured it perfectly. If you’re weirded out by ghosts or the idea of it maybe this isn’t the best place for you.
