The main house was beautiful! The staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. We loved the bar (especially our server, Max) and enjoyed sitting on the porch. Every staff member we interacted with was kind and welcoming.

There were a few times we found ourselves waiting longer than expected at the front desk and for valet service. Our room was clean and comfortable, though it felt a bit dated. For the price point, it would go a long way to offer a few more amenities, and the pool was smaller than we anticipated based on the website photos.

Fantastic location, very nice hotel and rooms. Quiet. Would definitely come again. Also we were there at low season and had a great price.

No desk in the bedroom. That was a problem since we have conf calls late evening or early morning. The car valet process was ok (only one car at a time can get in, the rest wait in line on the street, there are two ways to pay for valet and that is confusing since the app requires to enter a card number to be able to get your car back. Also the app set by default a wrong check out date and it felt like I would be charged two nights instead of one. But it was quickly fixed). Breakfast was very good .. but the food came very slowly... This said overall we were very happy.

There's a very good restaurant on-site. The prices are decent, and the food and cocktails are superb. The pool area is small but has enough towels, cabanas, and loungers. They don't really care if you go to the pool late at night as long as you are respectful and not noisy.

No self-parking available. Our room didn't have a view, but we didn't pay to upgrade the view so it's not a big deal breaker. The address said they are on "Rio Grande" but the main entrance is actually on MLK, so just be aware.

the hotel and staff were fantastic, the hotel had a gas leak so there was no hot water and the restaurant couldn't open. when we checked out the nxt morning, the manager had waived any charges incurred at the hotel, ie our parking and breakfast. we thought this was so nice and kind of him. we would stay here again.

the location wasn't bad but was a bit of a way out, we were at the end of a 2 week holiday and just wanted to stay local, as the restaurant was closed at the hotel, we were limited for what to eat. apart from that, loved it.

This historical property was an absolute gem to stay at. The staff from Cece at the front desk to Keith at valet were outstanding and really made our stay feel special. We were staying here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and special. I have to say my favorite part of the hotel room was the bed - the most comfortable bed, linens, and pillows ( I did not want to leave!). We had the King room w a balcony facing the pool/courtyard, which was also amazing. The bathroom was very clean and also had a full length mirror which is always nice. This hotel is in a more quiet neck of Austin, but was in no way boring. A Memorial Day pool party was going on the day of our arrival - complete with a DJ to set the good vibes. We will be coming back!!!!! Thank you Hotel Ella!!!

Was looking forward to a chill afternoon around pool after a weekend full of wedding festivities. A private party had it closed. They offered another pool to swim at, but we just wanted to relax. Was going to enjoy veranda and coffee, but people having professional photos taken all over kept us from that. And not a negative, but would love to know why a full size taxidermy lion is in an out of the way hallway cove. And 48$ on top of stay for valet...

We stayed here when my daughter was at UT Orientation. It is a great location walking distance from campus with very nice decor, comfy bed and clean room. We enjoyed the historic aspect of the main hotel and had tasty drinks and appetizers in the bar one night. I swam in the pool one afternoon and there was bar service available poolside if you like. The pool is tiny but nice to cool off in and has nice fountains and in Austin it is so hot so it was a welcome amenity.

I booked through Hotel Ella's website which directs you to Booking.com. Per my booking.com reservation, I received an email with the quoted prices including pricing of $25 per night for valet parking. It noted the total price did not include 17% tax or a resort fee of 6%. When I got my receipt via email long after we had left the hotel, I noticed I was overcharged for both parking and resort fees. It took 3 phone call and 2 emails to finally get someone to refund the overcharge and I only noticed the credit on my credit card account as no one from the hotel ever responded via email or phone. They also didn't refund the entire overcharge, and offered no explanation or apology.

This was a trip for my daughters 14th birthday. My mom, both daughters, and I spent a few days here. She picked this hotel due to the history, which she told us about at least 5 times throughout our stay. I was highly impressed with the staff, the best in the industry no doubt. They couldn't have made it any more special. My kids and I have had an insanely rough year, this was exactly what we needed at precisely the right time. I seriously will never forget the time we spent here and I know she wont either. I seriously can't say thank you enough to Hotel Ella and her glorious staff.

Cute boutique hotel in an awesome location right off MLK and the Drag. Two blocks from decent Pho restaurant. Easy to get in/out with valet app. Staff was friendly, responsive and helpful especially Cory at front desk! Small fridge in the room was a bonus. Room was good size too - stayed in the double queen. Didn’t get to try the Goodall Kitchen but heard it’s good.

We spent almost three weeks in a famous hotel, a hotel with a history and a soul - and we are happy to have met such a team. Well-coordinated work, on time, any question - absolutely, without exception, all the guys of the hotel are a pearl! Children remember and always want to come to visit!
