Staff was friendly, food in restaurant was slightly overpriced, but excellent. Convenience to Riverwalk and feeling of safety, high selling points for this location.

The roof top pool, pool area & hot tub was wonderful with one exception.... blaring country music the entire time, even in the morning when there were no families & kids around. Wanted to relax and chill in the hot tub, but music was LOUD. Not opposed to background music, but that's exactly what it should be, "background" not front stage at a concert and a little variety would have helped.

Attractive public spaces, convenient location.

Dated rooms, ice machines not working on some floors (I needed to ice an injury), expensive off-site parking.

The food was horrible

There should have been lighter options on the menu. Service was also poor for dinner time.The cost seemed really high for the quality offered. We never returned to the restaurant at the hotel for the remainder of our stay.

Hotel Contessa is a well conceived and prepared property. Most of the staff members were very professional and kind. Grace and courtesy discussed before each shift in the food venues may help to elevate the service experience even more.

Hotel Contessa has a “signature scent” that is used in the lobby and front desk area. It is heavy and musky, and an upfront to the nervous system. I hope that this practice will be changed or that the scent will be lightened a great deal so that we can enjoy this property again in the future.

Loved the location enjoyed that it serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Excellent service at the restaurant. I loved that it has flavor water at the lobby and elevator access to all floors including the restaurant. The view to the Riverwalk is beautiful.

I did not enjoy the shower it was impossible to get the water to a warm temperature where we could tolerate. The water in the shower rather it ran too cold or extremely hot. Hot to the point it would burn and we had no choice but to shower with cold water. Also the parking is very expensive.

We have stayed at this hotel over the years. Love it. The location is great, close to La Villita shopping plaza. Quiet location, as it is not next to bars and loud restaurants. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Also, super honest. I had inadvertently paid twice without realizing it (charge said it didn’t go through the first time), and they notified upon check-in and process the refund promptly. The rooms are suites which has plenty of room to spread out. It will also be my choice when visiting S.A.

I would like to see the rooms updated from time to time. I feel the room had the exact furnishings over the course of 8 years.

Loved the central location and the safety I felt staying here! Staff were always extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing!! The girls at the spa were amazing as well, very knowledgeable and put me at ease. I enjoyed a facial and a massage and both were great. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio who wants to stay on the riverwalk!

We had issues with our toilet a couple times and it took several hours to get someone up to fix it. But other than that, everything was absolutely perfect for what we needed it for.

Hotel Contessa's suite rooms are spacious and we enjoyed being so close to the beautifully lit River walk and close to the nearby Cathedral which had illumination evenings with the history of Texas. The food at the onsite restaurant was good but be sure to make resies. and the hotel is also convenient to a wonderful museum of Western art and sculptures. For a Christmas time trip Contessa did work nicely for our small family utilizing two rooms next to each other. Our son enjoyed the pool and work out area. Dec. 2024

No sign of a concierge ~ the front desk was lightly staffed and seemed not to care too much when we reported a back up in the shower/ bathtub. We requested a quiet room and yet, our rooms were directly across from the elevator which is quite loud(noticed in other reviews too)

We enjoyed the breakfast at The Ambler two mornings in a row. The Food was good and priced just right. The concierge Thurston was extremely helpful in making recommendations to eat, directions, etc, when we arrived. Our Location was perfect, right on The Riverwalk

We just so happen to be there during the Fiesta which was great. The only thing I didn’t like was they had a DJ on site playing music two of the three days we were there and the music was fairly loud in relation to our room. Aside from that minor inconvenience, everything was great. 😃
