If you go to Hanói, you must stay here!!! I cannot say enough good things about the staff and hotel. I have travelled all over the world and the hotel manager Mr. Le and the rest of the staff were some of the most wonderful I've ever encountered. Our tour to Halong Bay was cancelled by a company on TripAdvisor less than 24 hours before departure. This was a very special trip with my teenage son and we were incredibly disappointed. Mr. Le immediately contacted tour companies for us and was able to book us the same tour (3 days and 2 nights) for the same price, but for an even nicer cruise! The cruise was my son's favourite part of the trip, so thank you Mr. Le and the rest of the staff, you saved our trip from major disappointment!!! They even recommended and booked a table for us at the perfect restaurant for my son and I to celebrate our last night in Hanói. Thank you! The location of the hotel is close to absolutely everything. Breakfast was made to order and very tasty with a good variety to choose from. I'm grateful to the staff and Mr. Le for making our special trip the best one ever!

Ideally located, at the border between the Old and French Quarters, neighboring the Ho Han Kiem lake (which is at the crossroads of places to visit). In short, you are super close to the city centre, within 5 mins walking distance, while not suffering from the noise and traffic of infill hotels. The staff is very helpful and the commodities are efficient, good price for quality. We had two non consecutive stays in Hanoi, and booked this hotel twice, as we were happy with our first stay. Overall, a super enjoyable stay, highly recommend!

The light in the corridor is on all night, and the curtains are slightly too short to be completely opaque. Only possible improvement, and nothing that a good night mask cannot help!

Location was great , Right next to the Lake and Shopping Streets , The manager Jackie was Very Helpful and was in touch with us way before we reached. We were looking for rooms which were connected as we had two families and both had 2 and 3 kids respectivly. We cheked the hotel before choosing and we knew the rooms were small and narrow , any hotels in and around that area will be like that i suppose. It falls in most of the tours pick up area which was a blessing .

Breakfast Probably , we just had it once and the kids didnt like it.So cant judge from one experience.

The hotel manager contacted me couple days before our arrival to welcome us. I was able to communicate with him over WhatsApp and ask any questions regarding the location etc he was incredibly helpful and so welcoming! Everything was perfect! They were soooo accommodating and supportive! The most helpful staff I have experienced in Vietnam so far! Jackie and his team are really lovely! The breakfast menu is also nice! There’s good variety of options and prepared fresh and quickly! After returning from Halong bay, I contacted Jackie to ask if we could leave our bags at the hotel and he immediately replied to my message saying it’s not a problem at all. He also helped me locate some vaccume bags as my luggage was full, and the team provided a hoover for the vaccum bags. I am very grateful for everything they have done! The room was clean and tidy! Whatever it is, just ask the team and I am sure they will try their best to help! Location is also fab! I booked a grab to the airport, but the team booked me a car for much cheaper!

Due to the evening markets, the roads can be closed which means taxis can’t enter the road! However, the team will support you by either giving you a lift on their motorbike or arrange a vehicle if it is feasible at the time.

A Birthday to Remember, A Stay to Cherish Forever Returning to Hotel La Selva Hanoi after our adventure in Sa Pa felt like coming home—but what awaited me on the night of February 28 was beyond anything I could have imagined. It was late when we arrived, the city lights shimmering through the drizzle, and I was already content just to be back in the cozy familiarity of the hotel. But then—a surprise! A beautifully prepared birthday cake, thoughtfully arranged by Jackie and his night staff. I was speechless. This was our birthday trip—mine was on February 27—and while I had secretly hoped for a cake in my Sa Pa hotel, none came. I had brushed it off, telling myself it wasn’t a big deal. But then this happened—Jackie had planned it for me. And suddenly, I felt seen. I felt valued. The warmth of that moment—the kindness behind it—was something I will never forget. It was perfect. Jackie’s attentiveness didn’t stop there. While we were still in Sa Pa, uncertain if our bus would return to Hanoi in time for our dinner plans, he took it upon himself to adjust our reservation at Tam Vi Restaurant—seamlessly moving it from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM. It was such a small thing, yet it made a world of difference, ensuring that we didn’t have to rush, worry, or miss out on a beautiful dining experience. His foresight and care were remarkable. And then there were the mornings of March 1 and March 2—cold, rainy, and made infinitely better by the most wonderful breakfasts. The small lady staff attending to us was extraordinary. She had an impeccable eye for detail. The moment she noticed my coffee cup running low, she immediately asked if I wanted a refill. Of course, my answer was an enthusiastic yes! ☕☕☕ And so, just like that, she made sure my coffee—all 2 to 3 cups of it—was always topped up, keeping me warm and energized. It’s the little things, and she mastered them all. Thank you, Jackie. Thank you, La Selva Team. You made my Hanoi experience extraordinary. 💛🌿✨

Good location, clean rooms, possibility to have breakfast in the hotel, which is rare in this post covid period. Room is quiet, no disturbing noise. Possibility to borrow good quality umbrellas, very useful in the rainy season's heavy downpours. A safe deposit box that actually works.

Only minor things: some items sent to laundry came back still dirty. It may be worth lengthening the breakfast period until 10 am to avoid that all guest come to have breakfast between 9-9.30.

A Haven of Warmth and Thoughtful Hospitality – Hotel La Selva Hanoi From the moment I arrived at Hotel La Selva Hanoi, I felt a profound sense of care and warmth. It was 4 AM on February 24, the city draped in a soft drizzle, the air crisp with the lingering chill of the night. I was exhausted—very, very tired and sleepy—but as soon as I stepped into the hotel, the night staff welcomed me with a quiet empathy that truly touched my heart. He didn’t bombard me with long check-in procedures. Instead, he simply asked, "How are you?"—a small question, yet one filled with genuine concern. I replied, "I'm okay, just really tired and sleepy." And in that moment, his response made all the difference. With a reassuring tone, he said it would only take him a minute or two to go through the important details—my room, breakfast, and any essentials I needed to know. True to his word, the process was swift, seamless, and considerate. In just a couple of minutes, I was on my way to my room. It was exactly what I needed. In that brief interaction, I felt understood. The next morning, the rain continued its gentle descent over Hanoi. February 25 greeted me with a cozy, comforting breakfast experience. The à la carte-buffet style was such a delightful touch—I ordered a steaming bowl of chicken pho paired with a flaky croissant, and of course, 2-3 cups of coffee to shake off the last remnants of sleep. It was the perfect breakfast for a rainy morning, a moment of quiet indulgence as I watched the raindrops trace patterns on the window. Another thoughtful gesture that made my stay even more special was how the morning staff allowed Joan to stay in my room until check-out time. It was a kindness I didn’t expect, but deeply appreciated. More than just efficiency, the staff showed an understanding of what would make my experience more comfortable.

Overall a good experience. There are numerous similar small hotels in the old quarter and around Hoan Kiem lake and I have stayed in several. La Selva is one of the better ones. Nice rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a nice rooftop breakfast area.

Actually nothing, it’s all good. But you should be prepared for this kind of small hotels as they are usually not purpose-built hotels but renovated (shop)houses. Very nice atmosphere but can feel a bit cramped at time and using the stairs means watching your head for low beams.

The hotel was perfectly located, exceptionally clean, and well-equipped. The staff and manager, Jackie Le, went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs, ensuring a truly enjoyable and pleasant stay. We greatly appreciated their prompt and attentive response to any issues. After the check-out, when my friend wasn’t feeling well, they even provided us with a room where she could rest for a few hours free of charge. This level of care and exceptional service is why we highly recommend the La Selva Hotel.

Perfect response by staff and manager to minor issues: The first room we were given was somewhat damp, and the toilet had a minor smell. However, the attentive staff promptly addressed these concerns by providing a dehumidifier, and the manager even offered us the option to move to another room right away. The new room was outstanding and resolved all issues entirely, ensuring we had an excellent stay.
