To stay with Mama Kim was a part of the holiday experience we will remember forever! She is such a warm person with the best energy. She makes excellent food, and it feels like a home away from home. She barely speaks English, but gestures and Google translate manages almost everything, and her daughter who speaks English is available on WhatsApp. It it was it it, don’t expect any luxury, but the experience is so worth it! Mama Kim will always be in our hearts ❤️.

What a gorgeous spot to stay! So close to a beautiful beach and SUCH warm and welcoming hospitality! Mama Kim is all love and care and opens her home to you. It’s like staying with a sweet relative (who can really cook!) in their home. One of the highlights of our trip for sure. Mama Kim and her daughter took such good care of us, organizing our transport to the house and a wonderful snorkeling trip.

Nothing to complain about at all! Note that beds are a bit hard and rooms are spare but hosts will go out of their way to get you what you need.

Mama Kim's Homestay is a lovely way of getting out into nature and away from buzzing Hoi An. Mama Kim offers a variety of activities through her neighbors, and there are a good amount of affordable restaurants for lunch right nearby. We learned about village life, made some friends, and had many interesting conversations with the ineffable Mama Kim (with the help of Google Translate, which worked fine). We enjoyed having breakfast and dinner with fellow travelers at the Homestay. We relied on the motorbike drivers who initially drop you off at the Homestay to get around the island (esp. Rāy Ông Bàng, which has great food & coffee and serves as a home base for nicer beaches). Rarely met this many nice people in just 2.5 days, which felt like a lifetime away from stress. We hope to be back one day!

There was nothing we disliked about the Homestay. Just book your boat tickets to Cham Island a couple of days in advance--Mama Kim's daughter (Kim) can help via WhatsApp. Otherwise, we just went with the flow and had a great time. Thank you, Mama Kim!

Mama Kim was so keen to provide for guests. The bed was clean and firm. The island is beautiful and there are lots of cafes to hang out in just around the corner. Most days I had the beach to myself.

The bathroom was very basic. I didn't mind this, but others might. I thought it was on the seafront but it wasn't. Very close but I thought from the description that it would be overlooking the sea.

Mama Kim, the host is such a lovely woman and did everything to make us feel comfortable. Arranging transport to and from the somewhat remote village was very easy with Mama Kim’s help. We arranged snorkelling through her at a very reasonable price. She also bought us out some cookies for a treat 😋

Showers were basic but hospitality made up for it !

Kim is the absolute sweetest host! Like staying with my grandma. Her English isn’t the best so take it slow and maybe use a translator. Great location away from the chaos of the main town.

By far the best homestay I’ve stayed at in my entire life. The amounts of love we got from mama kim kept away any trace of homesickness. This truly felt like my new home. She cooked way too much food for us, just like my own grandma. And the food was great. The greatest I’ve had in Vietnam. Everyone should go to Smile Island!

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They have a zero plastic waste policy which shows how careful about the environment they are and they provide you with (almost) free reusable water bottles. They even offer homemade food made by Mama Kim which is very healthy and nutritious. Vegetarierin Menu is also available.

The amazing location, the village is very calm, safe beautiful and tranquil. Somewhere to lose yourself in a book for a few days of peace and calm. Sotting reading by the waves in the beautiful air. Mama’s cooking is amazing, she’s very kind and despite her limited English she’ll make you feel right at home. The people in the village are all so kind happy and friendly, I cannot recommend a few nights visit here enough.

nothing - the property was perfect for us. be aware it is secluded and it is a laid back Homestay not the ritz - don’t come expecting to much, lean in to the island life and you’ll love it.

We had a delightful stay! Mama Kim was always looking out for us to ensure we had everything we needed. She was very resourceful in communicating despite our limited Vietnamese. We enjoyed a lovely home-cooked meal & she was able to accommodate dietary requirements (vegan). Kim also helped us to book the boat tickets - we would recommend this, it was very easy!
