Excellent location - easily reachable using public transport, very clean, spacious and good food

Check-in at late night is an issue. The staff is at 2nd floor and we need need access card to open the main door and enter the hotel ! There is no provision to call them or inform them. At 2:00 AM, I was waiting outside with my child. Fortunately, I got help from a person who was staying in the same hotel. Better if any calling bell or a security is available at Ground floor to inform the team at second floor about the customers who wait outside at late night.

Excellent central location, easy to find and the self check-in/check-out was very straight forward. The room was clean and had almost everything we needed - a blanket and decaf coffee in the room would have topped it off! The tv was easy to use and they even had a chrome cast so we could stream a movie from our phone. The buffet breakfast was delicious and so convenient to access. The staff checked in with us via a message through What's App and answered any questions we had without having to speak to someone directly.

The room was a bit noisy at night - we could hear the neighbouring room's doors shutting throughout the night which woke us up several times. A blanket for the room would have added some extra comfort, however this is just a personal preference of ours to sleep with heavy covers. The shower door didn't close properly so we needed to clean up the water on the floor after each use of the shower, but we were provided with additional dry towels the next day so this didn't end up being much of an issue.

So, both rooms I was in (see the cons) during my stay were well presented, have good views, and were the standard I would expect of an Ibis hotel. I was very impressed. The check-in was relatively easy, with myself and the young lady (name escapes me) behind the counter turned out to be from England too (Newcastle to be precise), so we had a little chat about back home.

This is a negative that turns into a positive. It turns out that there's a nightclub near the hotel and in the original room I was in (which I think was 405), whilst soundproofed walls, the vibrations could be heard through the window. I went to complain to the staff member on (this was just before midnight) and said that there was no mention of it being near a nightclub, and if it was I wouldn't have booked there. He arranged a room move to 1816, the other side of the building and much higher up, and I didn't hear any noise from outside the room for the rest of the trip. It was a nice, quick, resolution. Had I gone in mid-summer, rather than in the winter in the Southern Hemisphere, there is a good chance this would have been sold out and I wouldn't have been able to move.

The location is what makes this hotel amazing. You are situated right in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, and just short walks and trams to Queen Victoria Market / Southern Cross Station / Bourke Street Mall / Flinders Street Station / the Arts district / Royal Botanical Gardens and so much more. Plus the hotel is within Melbourne's free tram network in the heart of the CBD. The staff is exceptional and really go out of their way to make your stay wonderful. The gym facility is great for those who like to keep up their workout regime when you are away on holiday or business trip. If you have breakfast included in your room package, the morning buffet at the Pretty Boy restaurant offers a great spread of food to fill you up for a full day of sightseeing. An amazing hotel choice for solo travellers.

It was clean and near to the CBD.

When we initially checked in, they gave us a room which completely blocked the city view , and according to the staff there was construction going on in the back side which was totally different from what was written in booking.com, that we would get a room which has city view. So, we went to the reception stating the issue. They gave us another room but before giving, they said ibis is budget friendly so maybe you could book Novotel if you want city view and blah blah! Bro why would write in your description that Ibis Melbourne central has city view then???

The location to this place is close to Melbourne central, but up the hill. Just be mindful if you have a heavy bag not on wheels. Self check in counters is available here it's fast and easy. There's also an option to speak to someone to check you in. Communication via whatsapp was a first for me. I got a welcome message via this device, and responses did not take long. The amenities were good - coffee, tea, milk, etc. available. Still find it strange that the sink is in the room, but you get over it. Lots of food places near by if you are wanting to venture out.

I got over this quick, but I'm being asked what I didn't like. The random bathroom sink in the middle of the room is what I didn't like. It works well as both room and bathroom sink, but it's just strange. As good as the self check in kiosks are, this does take away the human interaction and the feeling of being welcomed to the facility. I do not hate these self check in kiosks, but I do prefer being welcomed to the facility by a friendly person.

We had buffet breakfast on day 2. It was great! It was rather complete. We are happy for the discounted price. The reception staff was very friendly & helpful on our arrival. The concierge staff were also very helpful on several occasions when we needed assistance on how to get to places we wanted to visit, especially Julian.

We especially came back early to want to have dinner at the hotel on day 4. But it wasn't open that day. We were not informed earlier that the dinning place @ level 1 is not open on Sunday. We were quite disappointed and had to walk out to have our dinner. Nonetheless, we had our dinner at the hotel on day 6. The dinner was great!.

The room was well equipped for one person. with everything that was needed. The bed was so comfortable after a long day, with the bedding clean and fresh and well made. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the train line, so economical and easy to access transport to all the locations I needed to visit. I will stay there again when I next visit Melbourne.

The doors to the rooms close very hard, and some guests just allowed the door to slam which was quite disturbing. However, a small inconvenience to an otherwise excellent stay.

Excellent central location, close to many restaurants, cafes and shops, and great value for money. Room was very clean and comfortable and had everything that I needed. Very comfortable bed and the room service meal that I ordered on my last night was tasty and reasonably priced. Really enjoyed my stay!

Room was certainly quite compact, which was fine for me (solo traveler), but I think two people would find it a little cramped. I also noticed that there are no chairs at all in either the lobby or the reception/check in area of the hotel. I'm not sure why this is, but it would have been nice to have a place to sit and rest briefly after carrying a couple of heavy bags from the tram stop to the hotel (especially given that there was a bit of a wait to check in).

The staff were very helpful, the room very clean, comfortable and well-priced for the location. I don't want to spend a fortune on unnecessary luxuries I don't use, but neither do I want to stay in a cheap dump. This was an excellent balance of value and quality.

The first room I was in was opposite a lower building which had a very loud air-conditioning unit on the roof. I'm a light sleeper, so it would have kept me awake. I mentioned this to the staff, and they moved me to a room on the other side of the building which was perfectly quiet. Thankyou. (Keep this in mind if you're a light sleeper).
