I booked this place a month before my trip , and then closer to the date I read the reviews. I hesitated to cancel because I saw quite a few negative reviews (about the smell, comfort ,…). I am very glad I did not cancel as my stay was a very pleasant experience. The staff was very kind and courteous . They let me check in one hour before the check-in time. When I found out that the clothes drying rack was broken , I mentioned it to reception, and they brought a new one to my room within 10 minutes. The bed was very comfy and once the door of the bedroom is shut, it was very well isolated from the noise from the street and super dark (which for me is an important criteria to sleep well, and I slept like a baby ). So it might not be a five star hotel and you don’t have fancy kitchenware to cook elaborate dishes, but it’s got the basics to make a simple meal . Honestly I can’t fault the place , considering the price and central location- in the heart of Melbourne .

It would be nice to have some chairs/couches or a reception area to chill . I had to wait after checkout before going to the airport to catch my flight , and I couldn’t really sit anywhere ; luckily the building is well located so I went to a nearby cafe .

City's best hotel for price by a mile. Excellent location! Own apartment with facilities to cook,do your own laundry, reliable wifi . Staff are excellent to deal with and assist with any additionals to make your stay more comfortable. When you add up the savings from being able to cook for you and the family and with supermarket 5 minutes walk away , do your washing in your apartment and sleep the whole family . Whether it's short stay for business or a family holiday you can't go past .the City edge on Elizabeth.

Like the first room with a balcony but having the bigger room the next without it I would recommend.

Great location. Close to trains and trams, the Vic Market and eating options Apartment had all we needed. Felt quite secure in our room which overlooked Elizabeth Street.

Street noise (but couldn't be helped) Check in issues: Suggest placing a simple instruction on entrance door to go next door to check in. Standing in 38° heat/sun was very uncomfortable and stressful. Bedrooms are very small for double beds. Difficult for those with mobility difficulties. The fridge froze our food, it's very overdue for defrosting

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The property was perfect location and extremely practical. The room had everything required to live comfortably and self contained with fully equipped kitchen.

The fixtures and fittings within the room could do with some maintenance. But everything still worked and was practical.

Exceptionally friendly staff, fast service and easy to navigate. Location is very convenient and close to many interesting places. Catching public transport is easy. Rooms are comfortable and clean with plenty of space (based on 2-3 person room).

Minor issues with TV signal, some wear / tear notable in bathroom / paint could do with slight re-touch.

Reception was open for check in and process was straightforward Bed was comfortable and extra doors to close in bed were great for excluding light but also kept the air con out which would've been bad if it was any warmer

Free wifi is woeful. A clear attempt to drive people to pay for the suposedly better option. $100 "hold" on card still hasn't been refunded 5 days later

Arrived after midnight was great to be able to check in at this hour with on site mgr. Unit was a little small but for one person it was fine, room had a balcony- small but was great to open to the air and watch the street scene. Very handy to shops, restaurants, sights, and trams just a short stroll away, as too train station. Very close to Vic markets to get morning coffee. Felt secure and safe easy access. Shower was a rain head -lovely!! Good size bar fridge to keep things cold with room to fill. Room was warm/ cool without needing to use air con

Thought I had booked room with a washing machine, main reason why I chose the property as my stay was 8 days, (was able to do a hand wash and use my travel clothes line out on balcony which was a positive) Bed a little small and low to ground. No room to entertain if you had guests.

Good quality accommodation for a good price. The building on the outside is not spectacular but when you get inside, it is nice. Small but good size room for one or two people. I like the small kitchen. Television is good. Good area.

The bed and pillows were not very comfortable but it is ok for a short stay. There could be more cooking utensils.

Location was great with parking a convenient short walk away. Able to leave the car there all day, didn't have to exit at 10am checkout time. Room.was extremely modern and clean.

The temperature of the room was set and was a bit warm overnight. Bed was very soft. Prefer a firm bed. For one night it was fine.

air cooler was a bit odd to use might have been a little faulty and maybe an extra blanket should be in the cupboard the ones on the bed were very thin other then that it was awesome and highly recommend
