Convenient location, near Victoria Market, near Tramp, easy to walk to the center and many restaurants. The hostel has a shared kitchen where supplies are properly managed.

Quite crowded and noisy, not suitable for those who want peace and quiet. The private bathroom in the room has no exhaust fan and there should be a handle on the inside of the bathroom door because it is quite difficult to use when locking.

Great location and really comfortable rooms, I like that they have curtains and chargers for each bed. The en-suite bathroom was super nice. Lots of space to chill outside the rooms as well. Awesome location in the city close to public transport and shops and restaurants in walking distance. Staff was very nice and helpful as well. Smooth and easy check in/check out

The only thing I could ask for is a towel, but that’s just hostels in Australia unfortunately. Everything else was perfect!

Exceptional staff. Reception was very helpful and patient with me. Showed me around and took me to the room. The room was very clean, and the bathroom smelled like flowers. The housekeeping team, together with their manager are doing an amazing job. They should get a pay rise. Definitely will come back and will take my school group next time, as the girl working with the group was sooo nice to me when I was taking my luggage down and helped me. Great team.

I did my main hosteling/backpacking time in the mid 2000s and I wish we had hostels like this back then. It was perfect for my one night stay as all I needed was a bed for the night and a quick shower. The beds are comfy, well equipped with a curtain, power plugs and lights so you can have your own private space in the dorm. Slept well despite some noise from the corridors of people coming back in the wee hours, but that’s to be expected. Facilities seem great although I didn’t need them myself but there is a kitchen, plenty of open communal spaces, plus a bar with pool tables etc.

Some might think a bathroom in the dorm is a benefit, I personally think a block bathroom can work better with less of a queue, and can often be kept cleaner. Bathroom in my dorm wasn’t particularly clean but I guess that can be expected with the amount of use, and certainly wasn’t too bad at all.

The friendly staff, Augustine especially was very helpful as i had to extend my stay for an extra week last minute. Cleaning of rooms and common spaces, ensuite bathrooms for people who work is ideal, activities planned every day.

I didn't like not having a kitchen on the 3rd floor as I was told there was one on each floor. not having available common toilets outside the room just in case. No laundry room on the 3rd floor and just 3 washing machines and 3 dryers for the whole place, plus one dryer has been broken for the past 5 days and not still repaired. I'm currently doing my laundry in a Laundromat.

Good location, right in CBD. Short walk to tram stops and stores. Use of access codes instead of physical keys was convenient. Common area and room were clean and spacious. Comfy bed. USB port and privacy curtain were great features. Free coffee in the kitchen.

The stoves. It was quite tricky to get them to work. Always took many tries, every time. Gotta press and turn it this way and that, too much or too little then it won't work. Not sure if it is the ignition issue or unstable gas supply. On one of my day staying at the hostel, there was a big group of students (?) visiting, certain floors were closed and couldn't be accessed by lifts. No prior notice was given, which made moving about in the hostel quite confusing and inconvenient.

I can't speak highly enough of Village Melbourne. It's dorm-room prices but the facilities are super clean and reliable plus, while we are in bunks, the privacy curtains really add to the sense of security and the bunks are very sturdy (no wobbling when other guests climb the ladder or collapse into bed). Lock boxes for each bed, charging ports in every bunk. Super fun atmosphere downstairs with weekly games, competitions and drink specials. Staff are very chill. Seriously if you're complaining about this place for the prices they charge there is something wrong with you. I stay here all the time when I have to finish late and start early for work in CBD. Perfect.

It would be nice if towels were offered as part of the price, or maybe just for the deluxe options.

I love how they’ve thought of everything you need here - they have self-check in and digital key fobs which is great if you arrive or depart at odd times, as well as friendly staff doing activities in the evenings, the bed has a curtain, drawer, own light switch and double plug sockets. I had one of the 12 beds which had a separate changing room as well as the shower, good soundproof bathroom door, lockers downstairs which I used after I checked out because I needed to keep my bag somewhere. Generous lounge area on most floors I think, with comfortable chairs. Great location not far from the tram. Good choice of hand/body lotion for bathrooms.

Maybe some signs on the door to the stairway, as I didn’t realise you need to use the lift as the digital door fob doesn’t let you into each floor from the stairs.

Stayed here for 2 weeks. It is quite good, better than other hostels in the same price range. Spacious common areas, bar and lounge operating in ground floor with good deals every day. I really liked the design of the rooms, with some storage behind the bunks, all beds with its own electricity, lights and curtains to give u some kind of privacy. Cleanliness was good enough. Complimentary coffee, sugar, pasta, rice and oat

It gets more noisy than other places due to the bar running on ground level, with ppl more keen into partying than resting. I also didn't like the fact that you can only get to the upper levels through elevator. Finally, kitchens sometimes were too dirty, but that is 100% on the pax being idiots. I saw myself staff cleaning several times a day.

I found a little slice of home staying at the Village, and enjoying it so much I've decided to stay longer term. The rooms are much comfier, with beds more private, than any other hostel I've stayed at. So many common areas for chilling or socialising, depending on your mood. Facilities are decent, and loving that there are events every night of the week, so it makes choosing when I want to be socialable even easier. There's always something going on and friendly people to join in with. Great range of ages so you'll always find like minded people around.
