We liked the size of the room and very pleased with the cleaning services and the chef who was a whizz at dosas! The waitressing was excellent too!

The staff should learn to give equal importance to guests.While my husband who is white was wished & greeted every morning and pleasantries exchanged, the interaction towards me being Asian was like an afterthought or even ignored! We also did not like the way the way most supervisors treated the waiting staff as if they were nobodies- being charming and polite to your own staff is equally important! Also, many side dishes were served cold be it dinner breakfast or lunch and we had quite a few meals there

Amazing luxurious interior but the location is the best (alongside Galle Face hotel). Taj is BETTER located than the ITC hotel and especially Shangri-la but I really like about Taj is that they have created greenery within the hotel grounds making it quieter and more secluded too. This is great for a genuinely exclusive feel! Room and the large bathroom are amazing with their luxurious, interior fittings and great customer check out service provided by Anjalee who suggested that I could keep my baggage while I walked around Galle Face Green for a couple of hours before recollecting my belongings to finally go. Superb at the value price I paid! I'd like to go back and highly recommend this hotel and Galle Face hotel are chosen over the Shangri-la as Taj is much nicer, nicer grounds including parking and far better value than Shangri-la!

A minor issue but I had to ask for my welcome drink when checking in. As the checking in process begins, the welcome drink should have been ready and presented to me as I was hot and thirsty soin after arrival. This is important because the welcome drink given quickly helps to mentally settle into the hotel more quickly. .. this is the ONLY point for improvement! Everything else was breathtakingly good!

The staff were attentive but not obsequious. The room was a Taj Club room and it was the perfect size - big but not too big that you feel overwhelmed by the space. Breakfast was delicious.

As the Taj Club rooms are non-smoking, while staying there some other guests in other rooms decided to smoke which did leave a rather unpleasant smell for a couple of days, but the property attended to the matter immediately and with their jasmine air purifier, the smell was gone.

Memorable stay at Taj Samudra. Got upgraded to a club level ocean view room on checking in. Room was spacious and was very comfortable. House keeping staff were wonderful. Breakfast was good with a lot of varieties to choose from. Location was great facing the lovely Arabian Sea. Situated very close to tourist areas including the Dutch hotel shopping precinct and One Galle face mall is walkable. Overall a memorable stay with the family.

The restaurant could do with a makeover creating more space for people to walk around the buffet spread.

Highlight of our stay at the Taj Samudra is the breakfast!!!! There are just no words to describe how fabulous it was. Wonderful spread of choices, excellent quality and absolutely delicious and wonderful service by all the staff members. Kudos to the Taj Samudra - you have yet again lived up to the excellent standards of the Taj brand.....keep up the excellent work.

This property had everything. The staff went above and beyond to make sure my family was looked after & nothing was ever to hard for the staff to do. Anjalee was the main person we dealt with & I honestly cannot say a bad word about her. She was absolutely amazing, even to the point she remembered my daughters stuffed toys names & greeted them each day which was just beautiful. Cannot recommend this stay enough

It was perfect

Although it was a short stay, we truly had a wonderful and memorable experience at Taj Samudra. Every staff member, from the front desk to housekeeping, is consistently friendly and helpful, making us feel genuinely welcomed. The senior staff members were highly professional and very friendly all around. The food is great and location is also excellent with easy access to Colombo seaside. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Club room overlooking Galle Face Green with business club room-continental breakfast served, all day coffee & tea & evening drinks & snacks. Large room with large desk & lounge, cool, dark bedroom with excellent bedding. Lush bathroom with great bath. Fabulous breakfast served in the downstairs restaurant. Very helpful staff & particularly the concierge. Walk to many of the sites. Large pool & good sunlounges. Very late flight & no problems getting a late checkout (4pm) but maybe because we were lucky to be there on a quiet week.

Looking tired & in need of an upgrade. No compendium in the room so had to wander around & guess what the facilities were & weren’t informed on checkin what was available at the hotel.

Wonderful location of the hotel, grand property with large rooms.

Hotel is about 40 years old and it shows in the furnishings and furniture. Staff is courteous but for any in room order they never get everything in one go, it take 2 or 3 visits even for small things. Breakfast spread is above average though the food is delicious.

Excellent standard of quality throughout the hotel. Service and staff are exceptional and a good range of restaurants on offer. The main lobby is very inviting and the bar area in the lobby is very comfortable and relaxing.

The room was of a very high standard but the unfortunately, the bed was too firm for me and I had a poor nights sleep. Almost no shops to visit in the attached shopping area and no billiards or pool table available although a pool table is shown in the guide on the room TV.
