From the very efficient check in and excellent staff greeting to the comfortable and clean room.

The Only sole issue during our stay, was what I consider was the Limited Breakfast choice. My wife and I always include Breakfast in our frequent nights away, however Yorks Hampton by Hilton was disappointingly limiting, something we have not experienced at rival hotel groups. No choice of Boiled, Poached or Fried Eggs. No Black Pudding, Mushrooms or Fried Bread. Really spoilt what I would have preffered to report back as Perfect.

The location to the center of York was excellent, and also restaurants were very close by if you are walking. Their were lifts in the hotel to all designated floors, and the staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Regarding the breakfast times, it was advised by the hotel that if you required a more relaxing breakfast experience, you had to be in the very tightly seated dining area before 8.00 am . Regarding the choice of breakfast items, their were no mushrooms or fried eggs on offer, but otherwise everything else was fine

The bed and pillows were just right for us. We had a very comfortable night's sleep. The desk staff were very helpful and polite. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast afforded a lot of options even if the overall quality of the food wasn't great.

Quality of the food at breakfast could have been higher but there was plenty to choose from. We stayed there while it was half term and there were events in the city so, while the cost of the room was to bee expected (£177 for an overnight stay on a Saturday), the overall stay was perhaps not quite worth that amount.

The room was excellent and very clean. The breakfast had a good selection and, although a bit chaotic regarding seating, it was enjoyable. It was annoying to leave my seat to get something only to find that others had moved my dishes and taken the table!

Although a restaurant is advertised, the food in the evening varied greatly. On some evenings, there was only soup or pizza, on others, there was a greater selection with burgers and chilli added. It would have been good to have the menu shown somewhere. Mostly the area is for drinks, with very few dining tables. On a completely different note, given the construction locally, it is not a five-minute walk from the station!

The room was clean and spacious, the shower with the grab rail was perfect for us. I liked the sofa in the room. I only had to ask and the next day I had decaf coffee in my room which was great and the breakfast was lovely lots of choice from fruit cereal to cooked breakfast.

We got stuck in the lift for 5 minutes, no one had advised us when we checked in that one of the lifts were for the staff, so that made me nervous to use it again. There are 2 lifts so not a problem. And our room card key would not work on a couple of occasions the staff came up to the room even, they struggled to gain entry.

Nice Hotel. Buffet breakfast very good. Nice hot food, plenty of choices. Can help yourself to whatever you want. Staff kept tables very clean and cleared away dishes quickly. No table cloths needed so easy for staff to clean tables. The Hotel does only breakfast so you go out yo dine during the day & night. Loved the way it was not far from the yown restaurants, shoos, bars etc. Very close to the York train station about 5 mins walk. About 10 mins walk to town. We had a downstairs room which was nice & quiet. Large TV, coffee & tea kettle facilities. Wardrobe and Queens size bed. Very comfortable. Cleaners in every day. Lovely walk in shower in bathroom, no bath but we loved the shower. There was also a safe in the room, no charge and also iron and ironing board. A hatch lock on the door as well. The hotel has free WiFi. Staff very helpful. You pay for your room when you arrive, then easy check out when you leave. There is a small bar area too where reception is.

There were only two things. The actual bathroom was quite small but it was fine for myself & husband. Also there were no teaspoons in rooms with the mugs only sticks which I think a few people didn't like.

Breakfast was good but disappointed that there were no fried eggs or boiled eggs. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Olivia was particulary good and definately deserves a shout out. She was very helpful and kind to my 6 year old nephew. Great location.

We were originally put in room 222. It was like a prison with bars on the window. It was also directly above the bar. In that I was staying with my 6 year old nephew who would be in bed by 8pm, I was really disappointed in the room location and asked to move room. The staff managed to accomodate the room change. If a room change was not available I would have been very disappointed indeed.

Good location for the city centre. Comfortable room.

The breakfast was poor compared to other places we stay, that are not as expensive. The sausage are not top quality, i.e value type sausage. They had no egg option, it was scrambled egg only. The cleaning staff were quite ignorant; both mornings there were several outside the lift talking loudly9 in a foreign langauge infront of customers, which I find disrespectful, but most annoying were them using the lift before us, we were not the only ones to comment 'what happened to customers first'. No where to properly hang towels, just kn tiny button hook,vso two bath towels hung there would still be damp later in the day. We had to ask for decaf coffee, standard to offer both in most hotel rooms.

I thoroughly recommend Hampton. We had an extremely enjoyable and pleasant stay. The hotel is modern, new, and is as fresh as a daisy. The room was a good size with everything to hand, including an iron and ironing board. The bathroom was fantastic, clean, and fresh with gorgeous towels and toiletries. The beds were divine, very comfortable, with fantastic linen, and the pillows were absolutely fabulous. We slept very and had a free breakfast, which was the full wofks. Including gorgeous coffee and my word, we really were spoiled for choice! I was really impressed with the vast array of food choices, which included options for every food allergy or dietry preference! My grandson even made his own waffle, so he was super delighted. The staff were all absolutely delightful and were clearly happy. They were friendly and helpful and took time to explain everything. Parking is close by, and we got a great discount on the overall cost after our time in York!. I thoroughly recommend the Hampton.

The fact that we were only there for one night and we wish that we could have stayed for longer.

Excellent location, a short walk from the train station to the hotel (about 4 minutes) and then after dropping luggage just a short 5-10 minute walk into town. Hotel is nice and modern, and overall I would say good value for money. Room was spacious enough with a decent shower and again felt like it had been updated fairly recently. The area is quiet at night as there are office blocks behind the hotel. Cooked breakfast was basic but plentiful, and the seating area was pleasant enough. I found the easiest way into town is to cut through Barker Lane (across the road and slightly to the left after exiting the hotel) at the end turn left onto Micklegate and follow it downhill which will lead you into town in no time at all!

Nothing to complain about, though I guess a fridge in the room to keep drinks cold would have been great. Regardless of this small issue I would definitely stay here again.
