Charming hotel 5 mins away from Kamppi metro/bus station with lovely and helpful staff. Very good breakfast with plenty of options for different eaters (meat, vegetarian, vegan etc). Reception open 24/7 which is a massive plus for female solo travellers wanting to go for a night out. The bar also had very delicious meal options like the very generous Helka salad (with salmon of course!). Also double glazed windows were very much appreciated as my room overlooked the main street.

For the single room, the bathroom could have been a little bit bigger because it sometimes felt a bit uncomfortable but that's only a small detail. This would probably only really affect long stays, short stays are absolutely fine.

Hotel Helka has become a sort of home away from home for me. The friendly and helpful staff at this hotel really makes this a great hotel. That said, I also love the breakfast, the comfort of the rooms, and the sauna. One of my favorite restaurants (Atelje Finne) is around the corner, there are several second-hand clothing stores within walking distance. Kamppi, the train station, and the National Opera and Ballet are all within walking distance. I prefer staying in this location than closer to Esplanadi.

I informed the desk when I moved in that I did not want housekeeping to clean my room but somehow housekeeping didn't get the message and straightened the room anyway. This entailed moving all of my clothes from the bed where I had been sorting through things.

Third time staying in Helka. Great location, within walking distance to everywhere in Helsinki. Friendly staff and room was spacious. Breakfast is suberb and one of the reasons for us returning!

The bathroom shower (especially corners, shower screen sliders and grout) would need some deep scrub. This did not prevent us from using the facilities, but made the room feel sub-standard. The aircon was noisy, and therefore were only able to use it at low setting. Normally would not be an issue but there was a record heat wave in May!

I stayed here last week and this time was given a bigger room, which was a great improvement on the last one. Especially liked the comparative size of the bathroom .

I obviously went down for breakfast at the wrong time. It was very busy, tables full, etc. But as the crowd thinned a very efficient waitress was clearing the tables and filling up the depleted food options. So I eventually got a reasonable breakfast. I'm always amazed at the amount of food some people take from a buffet, then leave it on their plates uneaten....

From the polite and helpful check in, this hotel had a welcoming vibe that never diminished. My partner is a serious fan of Aalto, so the ultra stylish, and extremely comfortable, rooms were a big hit. The area is very convenient to restaurants and shops, with the vibrant area of Kamppi just a short walk away. Finally, breakfast was satisfying and had a great selection to choose from.

We tried to think of something we didn’t like about the hotel, but there was really nothing.

Loved many aspects of this comfortable and well-staffed boutique hotel. The location was outside the city center with easy access to public transit and the trending Kamppi neighborhood. Also within walking distance of a beautiful park and beach for morning work outs. The sauna was a great treat after a day of exploring. Oh - and how could I forget the adorable specialty coffee shop next door!

The bar was nice, but could have used more comfortable chairs for those slow days when you want to curl up with a book and a glass of wine.

Everything, the attention the kindness of the staff specially from Anu of front desk and the girl from the bar which made my stay so warm and welcoming, also I believe one of the best breakfast included in a hotel, dietary and allergy friendly options such as gluten free breads, vegetable milk options, vegan cheese to mention a few… now regarding another extra is the sauna, which is amazing and super private, there is women and man rooms so I found it quite nice.

That they didn’t have a fridge on the room but it’s explained that is for environmental purposes and you can save in their fridge if asked.

Outside of the STELLAR breakfast (that we almost missed sleeping in after a late flight arrival)- I was disappointed that there weren’t more basic amenities that we’re used to in the states- no tea or coffee available when we arrived, or hot water- and it was expensive to buy a tea bag. Actually all of the food/ drinks at the hotel were pricey, we were bummed about that- and since we had to split our bags at the airport we ended up being without certain things like a toothbrush or toiletries, and they didn’t have anything for us really in the room except shampoo. Maybe we’re spoiled in the states, but it was a bummer that the only non-Airbnb we stayed in on our 3 week europe trip had the LEAST amenities available.

the hotel is good, located in the city center, close to museums, parks; you can even walk to the zoo in an hour; the breakfasts are delicious, a wide selection of dishes and drinks, you may eat well for the whole day; the staff is polite, helps with all necessary requests (especially thanks for the packed and delicious breakfast with me in connection with the early flight)

The location is excellent; the breakfast was very diverse, with extreme quality and lovely details (like produce from sustainable sources); the staff was very very friendly and treated us with great care (we had to leave around 3am and they gave us a take-away breakfast); the rooms and facilities were very clean and very cool!!

In May the sun sets at 11 pm and rises around 4 am... the curtains let light in...
