One of the more budget options and it was clean and comfortable and quite quiet which is the most important. The room is relatively spacious with enough place to open up your luggage fully and walk a bit around. Bathrooms and showers are shared for the room that i booked-> there is one male and one female individual toilet, and one unisex shower room. It wasnt a problem for me as usage seemed low and i never really had to wait to use the toilet/shower. There was also a sink and mirror in my room which reduced the need for the toilet as well.

Nothing i didnt really like but some things to take note - washing machine euros $10/load - coffee machine is the filter coffee kind, so mostly used instant coffee which is easier - lift is very old fashion - might want to use bathroom slippers in the shared toilets - easy to hear conversations in the corridor or happenings in the bathroom from the room - but wasnt an issue at all for me as the other guests were all very quiet. Was also helpful to be able to hear when the shower is/isnt in use.

The hotel's prime location is unbeatable, just steps away from the Helsinki Cathedral, Senate Square, and the Presidential Palace. The room was impeccably clean and thoughtfully furnished. Despite the shared bathroom setup, I found the facilities spotless and well-maintained, which speaks volumes about the hotel's commitment to cleanliness. I enjoyed having the shared kitchen, which added a warm, homely touch to the stay. The Hotel offers exceptional value, especially considering its prime location and the quality of amenities provided. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Their genuine hospitality enhanced the overall experience. Overall, the Senate Hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and affordability. I wholeheartedly recommend it and look forward to my next stay!

LOCATION 10/10: right in front of tram station that serves all major tourist spots, to airport and to pier for ferry to Tallinn. Walking distance 5-10 mins to Helsinki Cathedral, Senate square, market square, Uspenski Cathedral, Allas Sea Pool and port to Suomenlinna Island. STAFFS 10/10: approachable, kind and helpful with all useful information. COMFORT 9/10: comfortable bed with comforter. They have everything I need in a room, fridge, hangers, socket beside bed, table, sink etc. The room is big and spacious. CLEANLINESS 9/10: Everything is clean. They have daily room cleaning if you wish. WIFI 9/10: wifi is strong VALUE FOR MONEY 9/10: worth it with its nice location.

All experiences I had were all good

This is a well located property in a central part of Helsinki just behind Helsinki Cathedral. It is more of a guest house than a hotel, consisting of 10 rooms on the 5th floor of an apartment building. A tram stop is just outside the hotel and the tram takes 4 minutes from Helsinki Central station. My room was comfortable and quiet with double glazed windows and effective black-out curtains (highly desirable for Finnish summer). The staff member who welcomed me was very pleasant and professional.

It's a cosy, old boutique hotel right behind the Helsinki cathedral. In walking distance to harbour and center.

Like most of the houses in Finland, it didn't have air conditioning, so we had to open the window, but because of its busy district, it was nosy. There is a bar next to it and the tram station is infront of the hotel so we could hear the noises until 2 a.m. probably won't be a problem during colder seasons.

Perfect location. 3 min away from the main Cathedral and 5 min walk from the University. It's perfect if you are doing any university bussiness. The rooms have a decent desk where you can work. They also have a small kitchen where you can heat up food (though, never tried cooking properly).

There's only one shower and it gets busy in the mornings. There was once a girl who was taking ages while the rest were waiting. None of the staff was there, though. Otherwise, they may have intervened.

If you go there knowing it’s more of a hostel style accomodation, it’s a nice place to stay. There’s a shared bathroom and kitchen, both of them were clean and nice. We’ve had everything we needed as for consumables. We needed an earlier check-in time, and they were flexible. The lady that greeted us at our check-in was lovely.

The distance from the train station can be a bit unpleasant by feet if you have luggage.

My only complaints are that: 1) As other guests have mentioned, there are people using the computer at the checkin desk at odd hours (in the dark without the lights on in there -- two nights in a row). If I didn't have nerves of steel this would have been extremely bothersome to me. The managers should realize that this is really NOT OK to have that happening. 2) Also, it might be helpful to prominently post on the entry door the quiet hours so that guests arriving late don't make loud entrances as if they were still partying.

Location is super central, yet quiet. Fairly clean. Receptionist was friendly and beautiful. Everything was working. Plenty utensils, comfortable kitchen. Shared bathroom was clean, toiletries were free. Elevator is old and fun, worked great, tho.

The room is located right next to Reception Desk and Kitchen area. Probably it might get noisy. And yes, I wouldn't feel comfortable to be right next to c/i-c/o area, so people could hear and see what I do. BUT! I was during Christmas and there was noone, no Front Desk staff, no noise from other guests, so no points deducted.
