The hotel is one block back from the marina and harbour front so it is the perfect location. It’s a typical older french style building and as such some of the rooms are smaller than might probably expect. I had a room on the top floor which was one of the bigger rooms. Even so it was still quite small. However, it was perfect for my needs and had coffee/tea making facilities and biscuits provided. Water was also provided. The shower room was en suite and perfectly adequate. I didn’t need the air conditioning so I can’t comment on that. The bed was comfortable and there wasn’t much noise which was good.

Two of my friends had rooms lower down and said they were extremely small and tight so my advice would be to go for the higher up slightly more expensive rooms. Breakfast was available but we didn’t eat in the hotel as there are many cafes locally for a breakfast with a view over the marina. We had an issue with the lift which was a bit scary at the time but apart from that the stay was good.

Much better than expected for a 3 star hotel. The location was perfect 1 min walk from the harbour and underground. Lots of bars and restaurants on your doorstep. We were on floor 5 with a balcony with just a sea glimpse. As we were here for an action packed (seeing Ed Sheeran at the Velodrome) it was the perfect place to stay. Staff lovely couldn’t fault them. We had breakfast on the last day and it was great value, hot and cold foot and plenty of drinks.

As others have said room was tiny but has everything you need and bed was really comfortable. Super clean too.

Excellent location, right in the center next to the port. The staff are excellent, all of them were very nice. The room was very well equipped and the heat worked well. Everything was very clean also. The breakfast is excellent, you get a lot of options and the food is very good. Coffee is the only thing not great.

The room was quite small and there is no view. Not a big issue because the price and everything else is great. The door to the bathroom had some issues and did not close easily. No slippers included. The wifi was bad to nonexistent in the morning especially.

Hotel Carre Vieux Port is located in the beautiful city of Marseille within easy walking distance from the train station, port, restaurants ,shops and marseille’s attractions. The room was compact(13sqm) but was very clean and comfortable with good bathroom facilities. It is perfect for a short stay. The breakfast was good with plenty of options available. The staff were friendly,spoke English well and gave good recommendations. If you have come to Marseille to eat Bouillabaisse I highly recommend the restaurant La table de L’Olivier about a 20 min walk from the hotel.

They did NOT have a car park as advertised on booking.com. That was pretty annoying!

The location is excellent, right in the city centre and about 1 minute walk to the port and to the nearest metro station.

The cleaning service was not sufficient. I stayed 4 nights and the floor was not cleaned during the whole time. Also tea bags was not refilled after the second day till end of the stay. I have met several staff working at the reception and they either spoke almost zero English or were not able to provide information about the local transport (searching on google was more helpful). Only some of them were helpful when needed.

Absolutely brilliant location, 1 min to the Metro. We took a taxi from the station as I didn’t know the way around when we arrived. Room is what you expect of France not so big (triple room we had) but was sufficient. We were only there for 2 days and during the day we were away so not much to complain at all. Literally a minute walk to the old port which has loads of bars and restaurants and probably open till the early hours. Special thanks to Irina (at the reception) who checked us in and the guy who bought me the metro tickets early morning to avoid me spending more than I should when we travel. At the time of the booking felt that it was a bit pricey, but now having traveled there, the price is justifiable given the location and the brilliance of the place

Room was quite new, very few signs of wear and tear and clean. I am picky with shower cleanliness and this was the best I had seen for some time. They are clearly going through a stage of gradual renovation but they did a great job of ensuring this made no impact on guests. I.e. the only reason I know they are doing it was the odd give aways such as a half painted wall. Breakfast was lovely, a bit of everything. Stuff were responsive although I did not give them any challenges.

The center of Marseille is nice by day but I wasn't always comfortable walking it at night. The hotel was a bit expensive for what it offered however, I went in the middle of the Olympics so that was the case everywhere

Location is perfect. A few steps only to the old port, the excursion boats and to buses, a few steps more to the old Marseille (Parier) and to the "real", like Rue Aubagne etc... The staff is great. The breakfast is various and tasty and made with accuracy and love.

The rooms are too small. Ours was actually once a single room, I guess - and converted. Should you have big suitcases (we didn't), then moving in the room may become quite challenging, especially as a couple ;=)

I liked the room. It was clean and bright. It was just a bit snug for two tall people. The staff and location were great. There were plenty places to eat without the breakfast buy in. It was almost outstanding.

As mentioned, the room was a bit snug. With no door or curtain, the bathroom was a splatter zone. There was some weird rises and dips in the main staircase.
