The room was clean and the bed was comfy, but it has no AC or fan, and the window only opens a little bit. The walls are thin such that you hear conversations outside in the hallway as well as doors slamming and people talking in the courtyard down below. This is not practical for travellers going in and out to different cities who just want a place to sleep as they are exploring during the day. The staff were either rude like typical French, or apathetic and disinterested, also like typical French. The whole of Strasbourg seems to be that way particularly amongst the Woke Millennials. The luggage storage is just a room where you stash your bags with other people doing the same, so it's just an honor system that nobody will steal your stuff. It is not a room behind the front desk where the staff label and verify everything themselves before handing your luggage back to you. It's convenient that there is a cafe inside as they want to make the place a neat little space to hang out. I just don't see why anyone wants to sit around to hang out in their hotel when they are traveling to see new places, especially a city like Strasbourg. The surrounding streets are decent and not loud or too dirty with not a lot of activity at all. It is probably more convenient to rent a bike for cheap to see the popular sights like Centre-Ville, la Petite France, and to get back to the city train station.

Clean, efficient, newer facilities.

- Excellent location just across bridge from city centre and a short bus trip to the train station - Bed was comfortable and had reading light and charging port - Toilet and shower were separate in the room which was nice as didn’t need to wait much to use them - Restaurant and bar downstairs - Wifi was good - Clean

- Shower water pressure wasn’t great - Expensive for what you get in the room, very basic - No lockers for belongings in room - No privacy curtains - Room was quite small - No A/C or fan in room so got quite hot

We are a a family of 5, with 3 teenage kids. I was worried this might be one of the 'hostels' i stayed at when i travelled solo through Europe 25 years ago, but boy i was pleasantly surprised how much hostelling has changed over the years. We had a family room that was super clean, quiet and in a nutshell it was good as many of the 4 star american brand hotels i've stayed at.

The only thing I would say is, it's not 'cheap, this is more at the 'mid range' when it comes to hostelling. However, you get what you pay for. it's like the glamping version of hostelling.

Location, nice outdoor area, nice bar, good choice of food, good beds, overall really nice and good value for Money.

Air conditioning was missing in the rooms. We're not necessarily talking about a device that reduces temperature but something to move air around without opening the window would have been nice. We all woke up at 3 am because our window closed suddenly due to a current. We can imagine that in the middle of the summer it would get very hot in the rooms. In the bathroom there was not very strong ventilation so as a group of 3 friends in the same room you have to wait quite some time until the air is clean again.

The hostel is clean and has comfortable beds. Good location a tad out of the main centre (10min by foot, maybe?). Breakfast is buffet style and has a wide selection for being a hostel. Even more variety on Sunday. Only not so great thing: it didn't have a social hostel vibe and the people working didn't seem to be too motivated. Also, we were told by one of the staff the bar will be open all night and later, at around 22h30, the night concierge, told us it was closed. After telling this to the same guy the next day, he was like :"naah, the bar is open all night but you won't be served alcoholic beverages after midnight, of course."

No hand towel in the private three bed room.

Clarius was a perfect place for families with small children; I was surprised because it was the first time I slept in a hostel with a small child. The location was in a quiet street and not too far from the center, you can enjoy a walk along the river. The staff was nice and ready to answer any request. The breakfast was very good. The room was cleaned every day. The best part for my child (2.4 years old), very curious was the piano area, the staff never asked him not to touch the piano (even though he doesn't know how to play the piano.)

I liked the feel of security in the hostel. There was good storage in the room and for early check-in and late check out. I was able to store my bag for the day because my train was in the evening. I liked the feel of the room and the climate control. The bathroom was spotless and cleaned every day. The room was cleaned and was nice to relax in. I also took advantage of the communal spaces to read in and enjoy. The accessibility to downtown and major tourism spots was good, about 10 to 15 minute walk from Les Halles, the cathedral, Place de la Republic, trams, restaurants and shopping. I liked that it was a quiet and more residential part of town.

The bed was very uncomfortable and too firm. The pillow was very flat and unsupportive, maybe it's just me, but I prefer a softer mattress and bigger pillow (I've had both in other hostels so I know they exist with the plastic coverings)

This time, the shared room is big for just three people. Cleanliness, friendly and welcoming reception, nice lobby, common Tv room, central location are all positive

This nice room does not have lockers, it just has shelves. I know they also offer luggage storage slots outside the room. But it would be easier to store laptops and some valuables just in the room without requiring a large luggage space. Also, I don’t know why this is the case for just the 1st floor. The previous week, I was in the second floor and lockers were equipped.

Great location, very clean, very friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast with many options. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go.

It was a bit more expensive than I would have expected for a hostel. We had a private room for 3 people, which was great, and then paid extra per person for breakfast. If breakfast were included in the price, that would've made a difference to me. Still overall a good option for us as the more traditional hotels were already booked at the time we planned our trip.

The common areas are really nice and well decorated. Near the city center. We got an upgrade for the family suite with 3 bunk beds. There are two pianos (but only for professionals), a mini foot and a ping pong.

Few easy fix: Room 316 some lights not working. No soap in the wc room. No presence of cupboards or a furniture for the clothes. The bins not with a cover. No toys or playroom for children between 2-7 years old . The floor in the room had some white spots. No pain au chocolates for breakfast.
