Everything. The hotel is a living Museum. Its walls are decorated with items and documents from 1881 until today, covering the history of Crete and the culture of Asia. The elderly female owners, sisters, have a marvelous history that they honour. The hotel was built to be the Austro-Hungarian consulate in the 19th century while the city was still part of the Ottoman empire. Upon Crete's independence was purchased by the current owners' maternal grandmother as a family house. History saw the building serving as a British consulate, German comandatur, again British consulate, returning to the family and finally re-shaped as a horel in the 20th century. All this history speaks to you from the ate, to the corridors, the secret garden on the back and the restaurant on top. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating, the room impeccably clean and the Cretan breakfast exceptionally unique and filling. I won't say anything about the view...breathtaking!

We loved the old fashioned charm and the breakfast room and it's beautiful view. The staff were very helpful and the garden and bar was an added bonus! The view of the sea was stunning, thank you for the room you gave us!

We know there is a reason for the small bathrooms, but the shower could easily be reconfigured so it can be used with more comfort. Plus a sliding door would stop water going all over the bathroom. Please please please consider getting fluffy towels instead of the hard sheets you currently have - they let you down and you are an exceptionally good hotel!

Everything was at an excellent level! Up until this age I have been to different hotels, some sophisticated others beautiful, clean, attractive... but none had a life and soul of its own like the Doma hotel on Venizelos Stade in Crete! This is a special hotel, with a special story and a special atmosphere. The cleanliness, courtesy, location, quality of breakfast can only be spoken of in superlatives! No exaggeration! I would like to thank the two wonderful owners, Rena and Ioanna, who, despite their advanced age, transmitted a youthful air everywhere around. We also want to thank the wonderful ladies at the bar, Mimi and Christina, the maids Joanna, Stella and Afroditi. Special thanks also go to the reception staff, Irene, Margarita, George and Yasos, who found solutions for us to any request (with common sense, of course) and who guided us to get to know the wonderful area.

Excellent stay due to the very polite staff, especially the breakfast ladies. They were very sweet and police. Reception was very polite too particularly the gentleman with the long hair. It's been a while since I have been to a hotel that people are genuinely happy to work there. My room was spacious and had a nice balcony. Breakfast was not very big but everything that as a Greek person wanted from and very fresh. Fresh orange juice, feta and kaltzounia! The view was very good too, ideal for a nice early morning. The extra door between the entrance and the room a bit of noise isolation and the room itself was very clean - coming with both a ceiling fan and an air con.

A few nitpicks here: as this is an old hotel, the noise insulation is not good. I slept very well though due to quiet neighbors - so if you have any noisy ones around, it would be very hard to sleep. No curtains for the shower so the water can literally go anywhere in the small bathrooms. The elevator was tiny too-it says four people but I suppose if you are a child it's ok! Full adults with luggage can hardly fit in there. Be that as it may, none of the above impacted my staying there. I enjoyed it a lot.

We had a wonderful stay at Doma Hotel! Waking up to the sea view every morning was such a peaceful experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were unbelievably sweet – truly the highlight of our stay. Every day they helped us find taxis without hesitation, always with a smile. The breakfast was also lovely, and the ladies working there were especially kind and warm. The location is also perfect – just a beautiful 10-minute walk along the seaside takes you right into the center of Chania. We’re so grateful to everyone at the hotel – thank you for making our trip to Crete even more special!

Nothing!

We stayed here just for one night after arriving late at night at the airport. The hotel is next to the sea, and a convenient 10 minute walk from the wonderful archaeological museum in Chania. The staff were great and the breakfast was delicious; the breakfast room also has wonderful views of the sea. Just fyi do NOT swim at the beach directly across from the hotel. It's not clean on the way down, shall we say, and also a passing local lady strongly urged me, as a woman, not to swim there. Instead swim where the locals do, about 100 metres to the west... (to the left as you look out to sea) ... there you will see elderly people in swim caps going in in the morning, and there are hooks on the wall along the back of the beach to hang your towels. very civilised!

The shining star for this place is the house, the history and absolutely the staff. I've stayed in all type of luxury but these people were one of the best staff I've ever encountered. yeah sure the toilet is a bit humid.. but in the end everything is very clean. It is an old building and as such, has it's quirks. You should not rent this place if you cannot appreciate it and then leave bad reviews. There is a hidden beautiful garden where the staff lit some candles for us and we had a great glass of wine. This is a once in a lifetime stay. Every corner of the building is an experience.

The wild beach directly in front is beautiful and very empty but this is because it is visited by some weird people. During day it is ok. So that is a mixed bag. The next beach is very close in the city, very crowded and tiny but with facilities. The bus station is close to go to the other sides. Some rooms say double or two twin beds. This means two completely split beds! Not something you would expect of course. When we complained, they quickly joined them for us. But, the room is not ideal for fitting a joint bed ..but was ok...just an extra warning that you should read carefully.

The hotel has its own history and you can feel it in every detail, very authentic place and great experience staying here. The room was nice and clean, the bed and pillows are really comfortable. The staff are super friendly and helpful, always approaching you with a smile. Breakfasts are not typical english ones but we loved it, the view from the breakfast room is spectacular.

The hotel lies near a road with big traffic so it’s noisy. If you have a room with a sea view you might be better have your earplugs with you.

The Doma Hotel is one of the most interesting, historical buildings of Chania, filled with artefacts from the past century. There is even a free book about the house and its history available at reception. It is small, and family owned still, with friendly and attentive staff. The location is great, near enough to the centre to walk, and also near to a small sandy beach. The breakfast was great with a good choice of sweet and savoury typical Cretan foods.

There wasn't really anything to complain about!

When you choose to stay here, you are choosing the experience. Amazing location, plenty of history. A magic place in witch the time seems to slow. The breakfast is amazing, both for quality and location: a room full of objects from the past, a spectacular view of the sea. Exquisite owner and staff

If you are looking for all the amenities included, this is not the best choice. There are rooms exposed to the beach, the street is busy, incredible view, but if you don't sleep with all the noise you prefer those that are in the inner garden. Big room, bathroom not so comfortable.
