The location was really convinient. The old town is just a 10 minute walk away so it was really easy to come back after a hot day to relax a bit and then go back for dinner etc. As well that its close to the port! Just 15minutes from the hotel until you reach it. So waking up early wasnt needed for our tripnto Santorini ;) Good that a small super market is 5 minutes away. So we could grab some snacks and drinks for our room. Personally I really liked the balconey and the view we had (twin bed with ocean view). Watching the sunrise and the ships each day made my expirience in Crete, Heraklion even better! And the AC was perfect! Almost a little too strong sometimes. The room was comfortable and provided all you needed.
The bathroom was a little dark and the water pressure in the shower was a little low. As our room was on the 5th floor, we were directly under the breakfast room (6th floor) and gor woken up from the chairs that got moved by the guests at breakfast, as the ceiling seemed to be thin or so- this wasnt that nice.

Fantastic location to be able to access everything (downtown, museums, water, transportation, etc.) within walking distance. Also, as a woman visiting this city by myself for the first time, I felt very safe and comfortable!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The entire atmosphere felt positive and welcoming. The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast is on the top floor looking out onto the sea and the harbor. The sunrise was gorgeous from up there! Coffee and food were nice too.

We travelled to Heraklion as a part of our 10th anniversary trip. The hotel offered a complementary welcome basket in our room upon our arrival, which was a nice touch and it made us feel welcome. This was a very good value for money accommodation option: standard hotel room and standard hotel breakfast. The breakfast room has a spectacular view of the Heraklion Venetian Port, which we enjoyed a lot. As a kind suggestion to the hotel, we believe that adding some textiles to the breakfast room interior would improve the acoustics and enhance the atmosphere of the room (just a kind suggestion!). The old town is a very short walk away. The property is very close to the Heraklion harbor, which was convenient for us arriving by ship. The airport is only 5 km away, so we were able to walk to the airport from the hotel.
The Heraklion airport is very close to the city, so there is a lot of noise from the overflights. This is, however, not the fault of the hotel (and you can hear the noise everywhere in the city). The hotel windows are well isolated, so we were able to sleep without any problems.

We stayed at the Marin for one night before flying home. We were very pleased with our room (502) which had the most wonderful views from the very large terrace. It was a good size and very clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a good choice of dishes to choose from. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is just a few minutes walk from the main shopping area of Heraklion, the port and the many restaurants. The Archeological Museum is less than 10 minutes walk away and well worth a visit.
It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room, also with such a large, sunny terrace a couple of sun loungers would have been great!

We had the room with huge terrace overlooking the harbour which had an amazing view. Shade and sun at all times of day. Great location near to harbour (both for visiting the fortress and for catching the ferry to Santorini!) and walking distance of lots of restaurants. Their own restaurant is only open for breakfast, but there was a lot of choice (buffet style) and even better views from this top floor.
We arrived in a rental car but there was nowhere to park until luckily someone vacated a space in the free area on the street; this would have been a pain if we were keeping the car, but actually we had arranged for it to be collected from here.

My second stay in Marin Hotel, this time with my wife. We booked a room with a sea view, at the 5th floor. Decent size balcony, with an amazing view over the venetian port and fortress. Incredibly beautiful sunsets and sunrises can be enjoyed from the balcony. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, always ready to have a friendly chat with you and share some local secrets. Heraklion itself has a great deal of museums, historical sites and entertainment to offer but it is also a very well located starting point for daytrips if you want to explore the rest of Crete. KTEL bus stations is located only 5min walk from the hotel. I recommend visiting Crete in December, there are almost no tourists, no queues at the museums, no queues at the restaurants and bars and all tickets for the tourist attractions are at half price.
A little noise from the breakfast room on the upper floor.

The room was spacious and very clean and the bathroom was modern. A continental breakfast was provided in a rooftop dining area that had spectacular views of the harbour. The location, once you get your bearings is good in that it offers close access to the harbour, the bus station, the Archeological Museum and the market area.
We had a bit of a problem finding the hotel on foot initially because of the nature of the rabbit warren of streets in this older area. So a taxi is recommended.

Location was great. Short walk to pedestrian street, ferry terminal, harbor and fortress. Staff at front desk very friendly and helpful, and allowed us to store luggage until room was ready. Evening gentleman was very friendly and we enjoyed our conversation with him and learned a bit about the Greek culture/society. Front desk staff both set a very welcoming tone that we appreciated! Breakfast also very good!
Needs a bit of updating in the rooms. The hotel lobby was very nice though.

Very nice hotel with an excellent located within a 5min walk from the ferryboat port, the KTEL bus station and the main pedestrian streets and tourist sites of the city. Polite and sympatric staff at the reception, always ready to help you with anything you may need. My travel was work related so I stayed in a single room which was not very big but the veranda with partial sea view was a surprising bonus. The hotel manager even provided me with a table so I could work on the veranda. The best part of this hotel is the roof top restaurant where the breakfast is served. The view is unforgettable !

The room was very comfortable and located almost directly across the street from the Ferry Terminal, a mere two minute walk in the morning. The balcony faced the pier and provided nightly entertainment of the harbour activities. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
There is no space at the hotel to park when checking in, but parking is available across the street at the Ferry Terminal for 3 Euros/day. (you can park for 5-10 mins in a residential parking spot on the street if one is available)
