The location was excellent - very close to the hustle and bustle but set slightly back so it’s quiet. I also felt safe as a solo female traveller walking back to the hotel at night. The staff were very helpful in helping me figure out the public bus system and giving directions.

Many people have mentioned the breakfast and I definitely agree, it’s not great, I didn’t stay long so I just ate it, and I also usually only have muesli and Greek yoghurt which wasn’t bad it just wasn’t as good as many other breakfasts I have had at hotels in Greece. Also just a quick note that the hotel is right next to a church which rings it’s bells every half hour and on the hour between 7.30am and 11pm - it didn’t bother me as I’m awake then anyway/wondering around, and if you are in a room not facing it you probably can’t really hear it, but just to keep in mind to bring some ear plugs if that might bother you.

The hotel is located on a open plaza across from the huge Agios Minas Cathedral. (The church bells are silenced at night. They were quite splendid on Sunday morning!) We enjoyed the view from our corner room, which has large windows on both outside walls. There was one regular balcony and one "French" balcony. The room was large with high ceilings. The decor was traditional. There was adequate shelving where we could leave our suitcases open. The bed was comfortable for two people, one of whom tosses and turns at night. The bathroom was good-sized with a fully enclosed shower and plenty of hot water. The receptionists were helpful, allowing us to leave our luggage while we went to a clinic prior to check-in. The room was very clean, but there's only so much housekeepers can do when Maintenance isn't doing their part. On Saturday evening, families were out with their children playing on the plaza. We had one of the best meals in our 23 days in Greece at the Frankly Cafe across the plaza from the Metropole. The next morning we walked around the neighborhood and came across a fascinating artist's studio connected to a mens wear shop. It really was a highlight. We decided to add breakfast, which was very good and a good value for 10 euros each. We were only there for 1 night, just to visit the museum and Knossos and then to the airport the next day. I would stay here again.

Things were not in good repair, e.g., door latch for bathroom was askew, soap dispenser in bathroom wouldn't dispense soap and fell apart when first touched (I fixed it), the lobby WC was neglected. There is no place to hang your damp towel in the bathroom.

The location was excellent. It is near the famous cathedral Agios Minas. It is very close to the center and there are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. Supermarkets are 2-5 mins walk away. There is a bus stop in front of the cathedral. We had the superior room and the room was seeing the cathedral and square. We could also see a little bit of a sea view from the other side of the balcony between the buildings :) It was nice to sit on the balcony and look at the view both in the day and night. The room, beds, sheets, towels everything was clean. The cleaning staff was doing exceptional work everyday and they are also so friendly :) The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was so helpful, friendly and caring. They answered all of our questions. They were willing to spend extra effort and time to help us out in the best way possible. They let us to leave our luggages in the lobby until the check in time and also after the check out till we left for our flight. The breakfast was nice. It was in the cafe under the hotel. They have a few options of pastries and breads, eggs (boiled, fried, scrambled), coffee, orange juice, a few types of cheese, yogurt and chopped fruits etc. The stuff of the cafe also was so friendly and service was exceptional.

Since it is nearby a touristic place, there can be noise in the night but when you close the balcony door you won’t hear it.

The hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the city. Almost all of the main spots are within walking distance, there are a lot of good restaurants and cafes in the vicinity and bus stops nearby for the further destinations. Saying that the staff is friendly is an understatement. Everyone has been exceptionally nice, hospitable and helpful. The rooms are clean. A good breakfast is available at the cafe Hacienda, just next to the hotel and they also have good options for your other meals. The bed was big and comfortable.

It is very loud. The hotel is right next to a big church so be prepared for church bells every half an hour for most of the day (not during the night though). The planes from the airport also pass quite low and they do night flights (not a lot of them). The rooms are not very spacious, especially the bathroom is very small and it's hard to use it without knocking yourself into something and there is no space to leave anything inside the bathroom as the sink is actually outside of it, in the room itself. The hotel can definitely use some renovations.

My balcony overlooked the piazza beside the city’s cathedral. Shade trees and small restaurants dot the edges, couples stroll there each evening, and children play in the area under the watchful eyes of their parents. Relaxing on the balcony with a glass of wine and watching them is delightful. Most significant sites in the old city center are within walking distance or a short ride on public transit. The hotel’s desk staff are all quite cheerful and ready to help. They certainly added to our enjoyment of Crete by suggesting a couple of side trips and pointing out excellent restaurants and shops.

Nothing negative to report.

The location was fantastic, in the heart of everything with bus stop right outside for the beach and airport. Our room was really lovely and spacious. Comfortable large bed and very nice linens. Amazing balcony with city views.

I really hate to say it but it was the worst hotel breakfast I’ve ever had! Everything was cold including the food and coffee. Bread and pastries not covered and lots of flies around. The staff are running a cafe at the same time so it felt they had no time for hotel guests. Next time we will do room only as I would stay again.

It was a very nice hotel in the city of Heraklion. It faces a common area or plaza, with a beautiful old church and some small businesses lining the area. It was rather quiet/quaint, and the staff were extremely helpful. In our case, it was nice to have the adjoining rooms that looked out over the plaza (with a nice balcony), as we had a family of four staying at the hotel. Breakfast was fairly extensive (buffet style), and there was a nice covered area in which to eat outdoors.

Crete is a large island, and having a car to get to the various areas of the island is a must. With this in mind, there was no parking at the hotel, or even in the immediate area around the hotel. Staff told us that parking was indeed an issue in Heraklion, as it was in other areas in Greece. Other than parking, we had no complaints!

The room was by far the best we had during our trip. The ammenities, the size, the balcony, it was all top notch! It was also very very well cleaned. The fact that the hotel had a pool and available parking was also quite the plus!

The breakfast could definetly improve a bit, and the staff was not the nicest we encounter on our trip (though they weren't rude or anything).

The interior decor is very modern and has that boutique hotel feel. Located next to St Minas Cathedral, there is a nice buzz from the adjacent alfresco dining area and the cathedral square, which serves as a play area for the local children in the evening. The hotel is in a great location for accessing the city centre and the main shopping district. All the staff I dealt with were friendly and spoke good English. The breakfast buffet is served in the sister restaurant, which is accessed through a link door from the lobby. I found the selection catered to most tastes, offering a range of hot and cold food, juices and on-tap filter coffee.

There were only two minor niggles: - the bells of St Minas sound throughout the day, which can be a bit intrusive in the early morning and late at night. - the walk in shower area in my room was prone to flood the adjacent bathroom floor

Excellent location, walk distance from many amenities and stores.

The breakfast was not provided by the hotel, but was actually in collaboration with the cafe next door (Hacienda). It wasn't a buffet style breakfast, and the portions were controlled. The coffee wasn't great and you’re given only two options, so get your coffee and breakfast elsewhere
