The hotel is centralized to most tourist locations in Mumbai (Gateway of India, the Taj Hotel, cricket grounds, Fashion Street, railway station, Café Leopold) including cafes, restaurants, Starbucks Reserve, Burger King and McDonald's. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming, the buffet breakfast had a wide variety of both Western and Indian foods, and they had a varied room service menu (the butter chicken, okra, and rotis were amazing). It should be noted that although this hotel is extremely clean and safe with a 24-hour manned front desk, it's an old building in an older part of the city. Not to mention that unfortunately as of November 2023, there is extensive roadway construction outside. This is NOT a grand, luxurious Western hotel, but it also doesn't need to be. The staff constantly are offering water, coffee, tea, fresh juices, newspapers, maps, tour guides, and if they don't have what you need, they will find it for you. The rooms were clean, basic, had toiletries (Dove brand), and supplied guests with unlimited bottled water. Because of the more "side street" location plus the construction, this is better for people from India who speak the language, Western backpackers, people who have previously traveled to India and are okay with crowds and noise, or those who are only using the room to sleep and then take a car to the airport. The rooms are extremely small for two people, and we had to keep our luggage closed the entire time. I would not recommend this hotel for those with children, babies, those with specific medical needs, or wheelchair access (they have an elevator, but it's very small).

The rooms were very clean but small. There weren't any hooks to hang things except for the bathroom, and (absolutely NOT the hotel's fault!) there's long-term construction outside, which means detours and jumping over unfinished sidewalks and roadways. I have previously traveled all over India so I knew what to expect, but if you're uncomfortable with seeing stray dogs, stray cats, food stalls in the road, or not being able to walk easily on sidewalks, it's better if you 1. Hire a driver or 2. Stay in a gated compound hotel.

Staff was brilliant, the concierge Gopal and Rajesh were great help in arranging car tours (which was a great value), getting sim card, or answering any questions in general. Very accommodating to our late check in. The location is great with walking distance to many tourist attractions. Plenty of dining options around the hotel. The hotel itself is very good value, very comfortable, felt more like a 4-star stay rather than a 2-star as advertised in Google. Fast complimentary wifi which was great for video meetings for work. Would definitely stay here again if coming back to Mumbai, totally recommend. Also we were not bothered by noise from the constructions at all and had great sleep.

Location might be a bit difficult to find by taxi drivers, maybe worthwhile getting an airport transfer.

The hotel is situated in the centre of Mumbai with many local businesses markets hotels and restaurants close by. The room we were allocated was situated in an annex close to the hotel. The entrance to the annex is situated on the Main Street in Mumbai there is a lift to the rooms and porterage available at all times. The rooms are immaculately clean with a very good shower. The staff are extremely welcoming providing a snack on arrival . A very informative tour and taxis were arranged at our request. The restaurant in the main hotel provided a good breakfast and good value for money snacks and meals.

I found the location to be excellent - within walking distance of many downtown attractions, which made exploring very convenient. The room had a comfortable bed The staff were welcoming and helpful, but I think more attention to hygiene would improve the experience - for example, handling cookies,inside the cups or forming the tissues with bare hands didn't feel very sanitary. On the plus side, breakfast had a good variety of options, which was a nice way to start the day

Great location on a quiet Kala Ghoda street with entertaining cats. Staff are very friendly and will help you out with taxis, bar suggestions and directions. Check out the Dali-esque detail on the outside of the Residency, formerly Handsome House. Breakfast is good and includes rotating regional specials like vada pav and pav bhaji as well as a mean masala dosa on request.

Some of the room fittings are starting to age. Room was quite small, but you don't get much for your money in south Mumbai. The breakfast room only has seven tables so is often full which means waiting a while.

HOTEL RESIDENCY FORT Mumbai, India The hotel and restaurant staff at the Residency Hotel are simply amazing. These super friendly guys anticipate my every need and are quick to fulfill all requests….and they don’t even expect a tip but I am as generous as they are helpful. I highly recommend the Residency Hotel Fort if you are looking for great customer service and a comfortable room at a reasonable rate. The singing waiter on the left was surprised when I told him I love Indian music and his eyes popped when I said I like the sitar and have records by Ravi Shankar dating back to the 1970’s.😱

Leaky toilet

I had such a lovely stay at this delightfully and professionally run hotel. The essence of the Residency Hotel is how it is Guest Centered and how the Staff are always focused on giving their guests an experience that is kind, caring and how it allows their guests to enjoy Mumbai whilst knowing they have a warm and safe bed to return to in the evening. I arrived on the morning of Independence Day in India and it was pouring rain but the staff ordered me a Taxi down to the Gateway of India and ensured that I paid the standard taxi fare. They also held upan umbrella for me so that I did not get wet. They changed currency for me and gave me a very good Exchange Rate and when I checked out early on the morning of August 17th they made a Breakfast for me to enjoy at Mumbai Airport before I passed Security. It was the small details that gave this Hotel truly a 5* Rating. I cannot speak highly enough of the Residency Hotel and their Charming Staff.

Honestly, I have nothing negative to report of this very well run and organised hotel. The Residency Hotel only deals in Positive Experiences.

This hotel was awesome. Location was great (in my travels to India, this neighborhood is basically the only place where the walking experience approximates being in the west) and will only get better when there's an Aqua line station nearby. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful (they even got me a cheaper than Uber cab to the airport). Breakfast selection was top-notch featuring extensive Indian and Western options (including made-to-order). The room was very spacious for 1 though it may have been a bit tight for 2 (though that's to be expected given the location). However, it's worth nothing that you may get placed in a building down the street from the reception, lobby, etc. Overall, I couldn't think of a better place to stay in Mumbai, would strongly recommend.

The location is great, and the rooms are fine, good shower with pressure. Breakfast is also good with cooked eggs at the moment. But undoubtedly what makes the day is the staff, they are marvelous. Well educated, knowledgeable, professional and amiable. Always ready to help. I can name Peter, but the two shifts at reception they are all wonderful. The people who clean the rooms are always there to help. A memorable experience that reminds you that people make the difference and in this hotel, that is definitely true. Highly recommendable

This place is absolutely incredible. We are from the UK, and I've stayed in a lot of places in my life, some 5 stars etc. I can tell you that I have never received service like this in my entire life. The hotel is run so efficiently, and in every corner there is a smile waiting for you. You really feel like people are happy to work here! The breakfast is lovely with plenty of fresh options and continental options. The rooms are pretty decent, with hot showers. The location is also wonderful too. Teas are also included. Plus, you can book tours directly through the hotel to Dharavi or for a city tour with a driver (obviously they are a little more expensive than if you booked another way, but it's very convenient). We had an unexpected problem with our travel during our stay which meant we had to extend our stay by one night. The hotel managed this without any issues, and even found a way to let us stay in the same room which we appreciated so much. The value for money is incredible. I would recommend this place 100%. I was sad to leave. I can't wait to return!
