We stayed five nights at Astoria Hotel. Reception staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, our room was upgraded to Deluxe room. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of foods and delicious Coffee. Bed was very comfortable. The location was very convenient for tourist sites. Staff kept rooms and common areas super clean. Everyone from the guy sweeping the drive way to the reception staff were great!

The only item we found that could be improved was the lemon tea glass jars had a lid that needed to be replaced. The inside of the lids were corroded.

Old yet very clean, neat and comfortable property. Does not have the modern fixtures and fittings but incredibly comfortable. Love the fact that my bathroom and toilet were separate. Room maintenance by Rajendra Singh is excellent. He is very thoughtful and dilligent. The restaurant downstairs serves the highest quality food. Breakfast is very good (predominantly vegetarian) and you can feel its freshness. #1 thing about the hotel is its location. Close to the station, you can get a cab anytime and most importantly its 500 meters from Mumbais biggest feature…the Queens necklace!

We loved absolutely everything about Astoria Hotel. We visit Mumbai a few times every year and we have tried all the big and fancy names who charge you an arm in a leg only to leave you disappointed. But Astoria was an exceptional experience, where you get the best value for money and where every person is genuinely interested in you having a very pleasant experience. The location is outstanding and minutes walk to the famous Marine Drive, which we made a point to walk every evening when we were there. A special mention for Giriraj Singh in housekeeping who looked after the rooms very well, but at the same time everyone from the doorman to the staff in the reception and those serving in the restaurant were fantastic!

The staff in the hotel are exceptional. The food is very good. The hotel is a dry hotel - no alcohol. On the outside the hotel looks a bit dilapidated but the inside is fully modern. The location is excellent. It was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Water pressure in the showers was fantastic. Overall I would give the hotel a rating of 8.5. Will definitely recommend it.

Minor things, eg if they served some beer it would be nice. There is only one lift, so a bit slow. Lobby is nice but small. But these are really minor issues.

1. The location is gold here. Step out and walk around the Churchgate cricket ground, the Bombay Highcourt and the India Cricket Club. There's a McDonald's if you walk to the right side of the hotel and Gaylord bakery to the left. Marine Drive with all its plush establishments are just a 5 minute walk away. It's here that you breathe in the true essence of Mumbai. 2. The room was clean, brightly lit, spacious and aesthetically pleasing. It had all the necessary amenities. (I didn't try the wifi). The bed was comfortable. 3. I took the stairs from the 5th floor and observed that each floors guest area was clean, bright and lovely. 3. Courteous staff. All smiles and quite helpful.

1. Their entrance lobby is getting renovated, they said, so I entered through their dining area and it isn't nice looking at all. They should renovate it as well. 2. Their breakfast was below average. The dishes didn't taste nice and fresh and the cupcakes and croissants looked cold, stiff and as if procured from some nearby 5-star hotel's yesterday's breakfast leftovers. Don't pay for a breakfast included package. Instead, take a room here and find breakfast just outside the hotel. 3. The chicken biryani which I ordered came quite late so room service is bad though I must admit it was very late (12 am). Also, it tasted bad and was very expensive at Rs. 650/- for a plate. 4. The lighting in the bathroom is harsh, especially the daylight, with no shades at all.

Very good hotel in a an excellent location in Mumbai. 5 star breakfast and the staff was just amazing answering all your requests in a very friendly and efficient manner. Most rooms have quite small windows which made me request an upgrade. The new room was fantastic, spacious and bright with a big and confortable bed.

Most room have tiny windows, but when upgraded rooms can be very good.

Staff are very thoughtful and helpful but given that it’s just been renovated, they could have thought of making it more age friendly. I was travelling with an older relative and we therefore notice requirements for elders more than others. Suggest: 1. Ramp access to lobby 2. Matte finish tiles in bath areas 3. Tape indicating step up/ down into bathroom

This is a hidden jewel in Mumbai. Located just a five-minute walk from UNESCO heritage sites and the walkway along the coast. We enjoyed the wonderful breakfast and the many varieties of foods offered. The hotel has been newly renovated and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Very helpful staff who went out of their way to be helpful. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay here. Will return! A touch of elegance at an affordable price!

The toileteries in the bathroom were inadequate for this class of hotel. Could have had better quality and things like moisturisers and shower cap. Also could have a better quality of refilling system for water bottles in the interest of using less plastic. When I got refilled bottles, water smelled of chlorine

Location, cleanliness, polite and courteous staff, adequate breakfast. We stayed there on Mother’s Day. Our children who live in other states wanted to get us a cake for the day. Mr. Gonsalves at the reception graciously and thoughtfully offered to arrange one to be delivered to our room as a surprise at his own cost. That was incredibly generous of him. We will remember this gesture of his all our lives.

At the booking price, the facilities in the room could have been better like adequate tea, coffee, sugar pouches, mugs, glasses, bathrobes, fruit or cookies platter.
