Wonderful building, a beautifully modernised palazzo once owned by the Medicis, in an unbeatable location. Very good staff. Price exceptionally reasonable. I’d be very happy to stay here again, except…

No breakfast a minor thing. I scored with a shower next door to the room, but most would not. No air conditioning almost a deal breaker. Temperatures at the beginning of my stay hit almost 40 degrees, and I did seriously consider moving hotel. Even with a fan on and the windows open (which might explain my half dozen insect bites) temperatures at night were at times very nearly unbearable.

Perfect choice for my case as a solo traveler but would also come back with more people!! Great for experiencing a traditional building, which access through stairs which are completely alright two floors up, with light switches when needed in the night (and keys for access in tines where no one in the reception). Got a single room with shared bathroom, the room was super comfortable and had a sink which was really useful. Staff would clean everyday, so was always good maintenance, also the bathrooms - there are two and both renovated and good! Always clean even though shared. Didn’t have problem with noises, that can depend on the guests but even though I was in the first room I didn’t face problems. Also, 2 minutes from the Duomo, super well located. Lastly, lovely staff!!! Will definitely come back :) already missing Florence, what a special stay!

We stayed here back in July, and although I’m a little late to leave this review, I just had to come back and share how lovely our experience was. It was such a beautiful little gem right in the heart of Florence. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and we were even given an air conditioning unit to help us stay cool in the summer heat, which was such a thoughtful touch. Sharing a bathroom wasn’t an issue at all. It was beautifully designed, always spotless, and felt really comfortable. The courtyard was so peaceful and pretty, a perfect welcome to the hotel The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, providing us with a map of Florence and recommending wonderful places to visit. Their warmth and hospitality truly made our stay feel extra special. If I ever revisit Florence again, I will be rebooking.

If I had to mention one small thing, it would be the stairs. They weren’t a problem for us at all, but it’s just something to keep in mind before booking.

The location could not be better. It is central city, very near the Duomo, the Uffizi, and other main attractions, but in a comparatively quiet street.

I liked everything. I was there during a heatwave, which was uncomfortable. There was no airconditioning, but I understand that installing A/C in a 500 year old building is simply not practical (even assuming it might be possible). There was a good fan in my room, and it was enough. But coming to Florence in August, as I did, is risky in respect of weather. It would have made more sense to come in spring or autumn, but in my case it wasn't possible.

We had a double-aspect room, which had a glimpse of the Duomo; likely to be the best room in the hotel. I knew the floors were tiles, the ceilings high - very high - and so had expected to be frozen most of the time. I could not have been more wrong - the heating worked very well, so much so that we didn't even need the slippers we had brought. What their energy bill must be like I shudder to think.

Not having a lift - and where could they have put one - made the climb to the second floor a bit of a challenge; but in every sense, worth it. Also, although there was a shower in our room, we were obliged to share a toilet. Although not a problem - we felt sure the Firenze nobles that would surely have lived there would have had a far less civilised facility.

The location was amazing! A 10 minute walk from every direction maximum to all of Florence’s greatest attractions (the Duomo, Academia Gallery, Ufizzi Gallery, Medici Chalel, Plazza del Vecchio, etc.). Aside from its ideal location, Vincenzo at the front desk was the kindest most helpful soul; he provided me with a map of Florence and traced an optimal walking itinerary to view all historical landmarks and hot spots, also letting me know which restaurants were the best since he had been going to them for nearly 40 years (ask about the Bistecka a la Fiorentina!!). My favourite trip so far in Italy <3

We would like to thank Vincenzo for being such a hospitable and caring hotel manager. He provided us with many recommendations for our time in Florence. The accommodation was lovely, rooms were spacious & shared bathrooms were clean. Also we were grateful for the fans at night when it got hot! For a hotel so close to everything, we felt tucked away at night & slept soundly. I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Florence!!

Be mindful of the 3 flights of stairs getting to the hotel re: accessibility options for those less mobile.

The hotel is in a perfect location in Centro Storico. The hotel is beautifully decorated. The single room was large and I fell in love with the wallpaper and fixtures. Coffee in the mornings was greatly appreciated. Shared bathroom was very clean. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Enjoyed my stay and highly recommended.

I loved this property, but there was no air conditioning or fan in room and I couldn't open the window. Some fresh air would be lovely. I stayed in spring so it was manageable, but I imagine it may be uncomfortable in summer. A small improvement could be including a fan in the room.

Located in the very heart of Florence in 500 year old Medici palazzo Bavaria hotel is extreme value for money. Great contact with the stuff, spotless clean, ancient wooden ceilings and frescoes on the walls, three minutes walk to the cathedral and less than ten minutes to all major sights. If you can accept that there is only private shower in the room and you have to use shared toilet (cleanliness is 10/10), you will hardly find better place in Florence for that price in such location. Highly recommended.

There was nothing to complain about. Hotel is at the second floor of old palace, so there is some stair climbing (no lift) to get there, but it's part of the charm.

The room was very spacious and we all slept on real beds (no sofa). The sheets were clean and as a whole we were satisfied with our room. The location of the hotel is in the very center of Florence, so perfect for tourists! At the same time it is calm and you can sleep well! There is also free coffee and tea till 11 a.m. and you can leave your luggage if you come earlier.

One of the nights we spent there, someone was smoking and there was a hard smell of cigarettes in the corridors and in the bathrooms, it was rather unpleasant! But this was only one night.
