So conveniently located - 5 mins walk from Santa Maria Novella train station (where the T2 tram runs to and from the airport regularly), and a 3 minute walk from the Mercato Centrale, 10 minutes (at a leisurely pace) from the main Duomo and Baptistry, and 15 minutes from the Piazze de Signoria & Arno river. Rozario was warm and friendly, his son Marco made a great team. You can add an optional breakfast for 7 euros pp, which we tried on one morning, but the other mornings we either left too early or chose the Market instead. The location is secure, beautiful, surprisingly quiet and peaceful given how central it is. There are lots of restaurants, gelaterias and bars nearby. Our room was big and spacious, and room service came every day to sweep up and make our beds which was delightful. Being 6 months pregnant, it was great to have a lift to take us 3 floors up, rather then walk up steps at the end of a long day. On days where it looked a bit rainy, long umbrellas were provided. It was great value for money. Marco helped us call for a taxi to the airport at 4:30am on the day we were leaving, and this was done within 5 minutes. The checkout process was smooth and hassle free. Nothing felt like it was too much! Rozario was charming, and very caring and considerate. It was a perfect place to rest our heads and wake up feeling refreshed.

I extended twice at this accom it is like a home away from home. It runs like a hostel with individual rooms, a/c, ensuite, pay as you go washing machine and dryer, lift, kitchen area is clean and opens to a terrace, bar and breakfast area on ground floor which opens to the street. Tables and chairs out front to watch Florence go by. The loveliest staff all amazing at keeping the place moving. There is Karaoke nights, a piano, guitars to help yourself too, outings, a decent buffet breakfast for price. It’s alive and interesting. Location to train terminal cafe restaurants and sites is perfect. It’s budget accom, I’m a mature aged solo and it suited me. Love it

The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance of the main attractions of Firenze and just 10 minutes from the Santa Maria Novella train station. It is on the third floor of a building, there is a lift. Someone mentioned in their reviews to look for the "Ostello" sign outside and that helped me a lot to identify the building. The room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and I had a nice city view. It is very quiet there at all times, which helped me to rest properly. It is worth knowing that there is no option for breakfast, but there are many coffee shops around where you can get a coffee and a croissant, or something savoury for around €5. The hosts are very kind and polite. I found hotel Merlini to be a very good option/price to stay a few days in Firenze.

The corridor where the rooms are sometimes smelled very weird, not sure why. But it didn’t affect the room.

Good value for money and perfect for exploring Florence. I’m rating this hotel based on the price-to-quality ratio compared to other hotels in the center of Florence, and for a 1-star hotel, it was a great stay! Fantastic location – just a short 5-7 minute walk from the tram/train station. Clean and modern bathroom – recently renovated, with hot water available at all times. The AC can be set to both hot and cold, and it worked perfectly. Helpful staff – no kettle in the room, but they kindly provided a pot of hot water when we asked. The WiFi was fast and worked well throughout our stay. And OMG, the greatest safe! Overall: If you’re visiting Florence and plan to spend most of your time exploring, this is a great budget-friendly option.

Great location, it is just 5 mins walk from the train station and the main attractions. The hotel is run by a family they are kind and very hospitable. They let us leave our baggages after the check out and take hot water from the breakfast room whenever we need it. Communication was not a problem thanks to their son Marco. It was very clean. The room and the corridors were smelling cleaning soup. It is not a 5star hotel it is more like a family house with vintage decorations which we really enjoyed. So you should adjust your expectations accordingly. Overall we are very happy about our stay that we even prolonged it for one more night.

Best of all was the kindness, generosity and excellent service of the hotel owner and his family.Rosario made us feel happy and welcome. The hotel is a small one, hidden away on the third floor of a historic building. It has everything one needs for a comfortable, convenient stay. The bed was comfortable, the shower very good and the room temperature was always comfortable. The hotel is very near the train station (5 minutes walk) and also near the tram 2 route, which goes to the airport. The city centre and all the sights are all in walking distance.

We liked the size of the room, the bed was comfortable, there was a view over the rooftops from our room's small balcony of the top of the Duomo. This is a family-run hotel - think of an English B&B - and the family were really lovely and welcoming. The boss (I think he's called Marco) makes a lovely coffee with your breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

This is definitely not an international-style, you-could-be-anywhere hotel. Some people won't like the fact that its decor is a little dated, but we really liked the cosy honesty of the place.

Fantastic atmosphere. The hotel is actually a series of rooms on the 3rd floor of an 18th Century palazzo on a narrow pedestrian road near the centre of Florence. The owners also reside there and are very helpful and friendly, at all hours. The breakfast room has a winding staircase, frescoes on the walls and a view of the Duomo in the mid-distance. There was a bug net over the window which allowed us to keep the window open rather than using the air-cond. The Merlini is just an 8 minute walk from the Duomo and 15 mins from the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Plenty of restaurants in the area. 10 mins walk from the station, if luggage is not too heavy. Otherwise a 12 euro taxi.

Difficult to find as it's on the 3rd floor of a building that also has other small hotels. Once found, the lift works well.

The owners are incredibly kind and warm, always making us feel welcome. One day, we asked for hot water to make tea, and they brought a whole teapot to our room, which was very kind. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet, and the shower was amazing too! Plus, the location is perfect, just a short walk to the train station and to the city center.

Even though they always welcomed us with warm smiles and friendliness, we felt a bit hesitant about having to ring a bell to get in as we didn't want to disturb them.

This Hotel is awesome. Very quiet and comfy. It is located at the 3rd floor, you need to take the elevator or stairs. I didnt have the breakfast so not sure about that. But the property is QUIET and clean. The Bathroom is fully renovated. Florence is small, you can walk everywhere from here. Doumo is very close. I highly recommend this Hotel and I would stay here again if I were to visit Florence again. Yes, you need to ring the bell and someone will come out to open the door for you, didn't bother me, more security I am guessing. A very nice Hotel.
