Lovely staff in this family run hotel. Truly Italian with a very comfortable room which had been upgraded to superior. Immaculately clean and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. The breakfast was generous, interesting and very tasty. We had dinner at the local pizzeria which is recommended. Altogether a lovely stay. Highly recommended.

Only one small thing in that a grab rail by the bath which had an overhead shower would be very helpful to stabilise getting in and out specially for us old birds.

This was the second time I had stayed at this hotel. It's small but has a very pleasant atmosphere. The location is excellent — quiet and peaceful, yet just a 15-minute walk from the city centre and a 20-minute walk from the airport. It's an ideal base for exploring Tuscany by train as the train station is very close by (a 5-minute walk). The staff are very helpful and always smiling. The rooms are spacious and clean. I would recommend staying at this hotel.

A lovely little family-run hotel in which it is obvious that the owners take a real pride in their property. It's actually quite a revelation when you enter from the rather underwhelming street in which it's situated. Although it has no restaurant, there are plenty around, and the breakfast was excellent, as was everything else about the hotel. A most obliging couple run it and care for it. A real contrast to the cut-price facilities and furnishings of many hotels in this price range. It's a short walk from the station, and a comfortable walk (15 mins or so) from the airport. You can also walk to the Leaning Tower in less than half an hour.

Very little. A restaurant would have been a bonus, but is probably unrealistic for a small family hotel of this scale.

Hotel Alessandro Della Spina receives my highest recommendation for a stay in Pisa. This charming hotel shines with cleanliness—daily changes of sheets and towels are just one testament to their impeccable standards. Conveniently located, it's a brisk 20-minute walk from the airport, a mere 5 minutes from the train station, and a leisurely 30-minute stroll to the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. Adding to the pleasant experience, every receptionist I encountered was exceptionally kind and helpful, making every interaction a delight. For cleanliness, convenience, and outstanding service, Hotel Alessandro Della Spina truly stands out.

No issues

For me location close to Pisa Central Train station was very important - for convenience arriving from Lucca by train and for getting the airport shuttle the following morning. It is very convenient to restaurants / shops and in a quiet location for sleeping at night. Staff were very welcoming and helpful with bag drop off and outlining route to take for sightseeing on hotel map. There is a small bar facility also offering tea/ coffee or hot water if required. I did not avail of breakfast option in the morning.

We had everything we needed in our room. It was very clean and lovely and warm which was a bonus because the weather was chilly and wet. There was so much choice for breakfast and it changed daily. These were very enjoyable.

The only thing we found tricky was pushing our big cases on the pavements outside. We needed to get to the main train station and the pavements outside were very uneven. It took us about 10 -15 mins.

I liked the design of the hotel, very classy and soulful! Also had a very pleasant experience with the receptionists, who were very kind. Location is very close to the train station. I was warned by local friends that it is not the best location, but I can't corroborate that since it seemed absolutely normal and residential. While train stations are dodgy everywhere, the street of the hotel seemed residential and was mostly empty. And the location was super convenient due to my early flight - so no issues on that front and no need to get too deterred.

Can't reproach much, since the issues were mostly not the hotel's fault - can't blame them for me being cold in January! :) Although I do suppose the heating is centrally managed and only working at night if I am not mistaken, which might've caused me being chilly in the room outside those hours. The AC can be used to heat up the room if you're not very environment conscious, but the bathroom stays cold anyway. But that's a very minor issue. Other than that the walls are either super thin or not soundproofed so if the guests are loud, expect to hear everything, but nothing the hotel can do here.

The hotel is well positioned, 5 minutes away from the central train station and about 10 minutes from the city center. We also walked from the airport to the hotel, a 20 minutes walking distance. We liked that it was daily cleaned and comfortable. Also, the way it is decorated is beautiful :). The staff is very friendly, always smiling and ready to help. Breakfast was nice, not a lot of options but rather enough.

The staff is incredibly kind. Although early check-in wasn’t available, they graciously allowed us to store our luggage beforehand and retrieve it after check-out time. Conveniently located near the train station and within walking distance of Pisa’s main attractions.

A kettle in the room would have been appreciated.
