I have stayed a few times pre-covid and always loved San Pio. They have renovated the restaurant area since covid and now serve dinner - very good option after a big tourist day. The lovely F&B staff and Housekeeping staff really make the difference at San Pio. The highlight is always breakfast in the lovely atrium - so beautiful! I love staying in Aventino in a suburb of Rome rather than in the chaos of of the centre - who needs that stress on holiday - and yet it is 20 mins walk to Colosseo and public transport nearby can get you to every corner of Rome. Thank you for another very enjoyable visit.

This is an excellent hotel in a convenient excellent location. A quiet neighborhood, but 10 minutes to walk to restaurants. The staff was extremely helpful when I tripped and twisted my ankle, supplying ice and lots of support. The gardens and surroundings are beautiful. The restaurant is comfortable and the food is delicious!

Our only suggestion would be that for non smokers it would help to have a designated outdoor area for people who want to sit outside and enjoy the beauty without having to breathe in the smoke.......

The hotel has very good decor and the room size was bigger than expected with a whirlpool bath and shower. The breakfast was better than average but was a little repetitive. The location wasn't the worst as the area is near metro stations and a little further out than most tourist traps.

The only slight negative was the breakfast as I prefer a cooked option in addition to breads and cereals but this didn't detract from a great overall experience.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Hotel Via San Pillo and couldn’t recommend it more highly! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this hotel is a gem. One of the standout features was the delicious breakfast served each morning. The variety of fresh, high-quality options set us up perfectly for the day ahead. Whether we were enjoying a selection of pastries, fresh fruit, or a hearty Italian breakfast, each meal was a delight. The property itself is equally impressive. The beautifully maintained gardens offered a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It was a joy to wander through the lush greenery and find a peaceful spot to relax. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The highlight was undoubtedly the large, modern shower—an invigorating way to start or end each day. The room’s cozy ambiance made it a perfect retreat after exploring the city. Additionally, the hotel’s location is fantastic. Being within walking distance to the Colosseum made our sightseeing so convenient. We could easily stroll to this iconic landmark and immerse ourselves in the rich history of Rome. In summary, Hotel Via San Pillo offers a perfect blend of comfort, excellent service, and an ideal location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rome!

Could have better selection of food / drinks at hotel restaurant. Breakfast was great though!

The room was spacious, The staff were so helpful and pleasant, I tried some Italian, but the staff spoke very good English. We ate in the restaurant twice and it was amazing.

the shower door was a little stiff, I did not like that you had to pay extra for eggs fried or scrambled, I had booked Bed and Breakfast, but nothing warm apart from toast.

So many things to like about this place: One of the best possible locations in Rome, just outside the tourist flows, but still close enough to everything (some 10 mins on foot to Circo Massimo, and another 7 or so to the Colloseum) in a green and quiet oasis full of hidden gems (in particular various chruches and Benedictine monasteries). Clean, comfy rooms with generous balconies, and all the luxury one needs, but nothing ostentatious. Decent breakfast buffet (although it can get a bit boring over several days) with sufficient salty choice, unlike most bars in Italy which will only serve you sweet stuff for breakfast. And above all nice and helpful (and fortunately not intrusive or overly eager to please) staff whether at breakfast, cleaning or front desk (and thinking here of signore Ettore in particular).

I have stayed in this hotel a minimum of 20 times yet am never given any rewards for loyalty. Never offered a nicer room or upgrade. I have always come with a group either from 3-40 & never remembered. I find this lacking. The room was not that clean, socks left in a corner from a previous guest.

This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at in Europe. The service and overall hospitality went far beyond the usual European standard – I truly felt at home, as if everyone knew me personally and genuinely wanted me to have the best experience. The food at the hotel was absolutely outstanding. I have never had such delicious meals at a hotel before – every dish at dinner was incredible, and the cocktails were fresh, creative, and top quality. Everything was simply amazing. The rooms and the entire hotel are beautifully designed with tasteful vintage décor that makes the atmosphere unique and charming. The staff were nothing short of wonderful – so much so that I felt sad to say goodbye. A very special thank you to Matteo, who helped us with every request, and also to the rest of the staff (even though, unfortunately, we don’t remember all their names). Every single person we encountered was kind, attentive, and truly deserves praise. Another thoughtful gesture that touched us deeply – on the day of our departure, since our flight was very early in the morning, the hotel kindly packed us a full breakfast to take with us to the airport at 6 a.m. This level of care is something I’ve never experienced elsewhere. In my opinion, this hotel easily deserves a 5-star rating instead of 3. While it is located a little bit outside the main center, it is absolutely worth it. I am already looking forward to returning!

The location is great. Nice and hidden making it very quiet. Staff were very attentive and always happy to help and assist. The gardens within the property and the decor is beautiful and sets it apart from a standard hotel.

The room facilities need updated. The shower is a big grubby and our sheets had dry blood looking stains on them - droplets. The hair dryer is terrible so bring your own. And a kettle or a free bottle of water would have been a nice addition. Also, the room became unbearably hot. We turned the ‘air conditioning’ on but it just blew warm air. So we slept with the windows open all night, which was fine until 7am when locals left for work.

Great hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a lovely quiet area of the city. Good choice of (not touristy) restaurants within walking distance and a 10 minute walk to a Metro station, 20 minute walk to the Colosseum and Trastevere.
