We were greeted right away and the lovely woman walked us to our room to make sure we could get in to the room without issue. The room was nicely decorated and we had the corner room with balcony which was perfect! It peeks out to a canal and is situated in a quite corner spot so it was great just to relax on the balcony at the end of a long day. Both the room and the bathroom were sizeable for Italy. It was the first bathtub I had seen on our trip! Great water pressure and temperature. The beds were comfortable and the room itself was clean. No issues. They offer breakfast, but we opted to get ours at local cafes. The location of the hotel is perfect. Quite but near many shops and restaurants.

Luggage storage is available (which we were grateful for on our last day after checkout), but there is no locked storage area. We were told to just place our bags in the reception area (which doubles as the cafe area) and they would be looked after. We retrieved our bags with no issues and everything was just as we left it, it was a little unnerving leaving all of our belongings unattended in a foreign place with no security. But again, we were grateful for the service.

We absolutely LOVED the location and the property was very charming. It was the perfect blend of private and quiet but extremely close to everything and very conveniently located to everything including the bus station!! The staff was reliable and responsive while making the reservations and very friendly upon arrival. Room was clean and the balcony was worth the extra $$$. Very good value!!!

We wish there had been screens on the windows! It was hot without air-conditioning making it necessary to keep windows open and we were eaten alive by mosquitos. Also, we had a medical emergency in the middle of the night and it was scary to manage without hotel front desk --- but we would still stay again!!!!

Very cozy atmosphere, we felt like we visited some grandparents. Actually the hotel is managed by an old couple and you can feel their way of doing staff: with principles and respect for the clients. The hotel is clean, with an old school vibe (in the very good sense) and situated in a quiet area (very important in Venice). And you can reach by foot from bus / train station in about 10 minutes (which was perfect when it comes about carrying luggage through Venice). We traveled with our 10 years old daughter and enjoyed our stay. For sure we will come back at the same hotel if we visit Venice again.

The rooms are not sound proof and you can hear your neighbors. But this happens anywhere in Venice - the building do not have sound proof. Take some ear plugs and you will be ok.

I knew Al Malcanton was good enough before I booked it. But it still surprised me when we arrived at Venice. It was a terribly hot afternoon when we arrive at the Roma Square by taxi. When we checked Google map and found that there was only 240 meters' flat-walk to the hotel, everyone of my group smiled. The hotel is classic and beautiful. Their staff members are very lovely, friendly, and helpful. They answered all our questions, not only about the hotel, but also about the city, the transportation, and even helped us to call water taxi!. The breakfast was amazing, especially coffee :-). The bathrooms are so functional and spacious (we never expected a spacious bathroom in Venice and you know why!) ... anyway, if you arrive at Venice with a big carrying luggage, Al Malcanton is your best choice. Look no further. We will definitely come back again. We have stayed in many hotels. Al Malcanton is a special one which stays in our memory forever.

Well situated, at 7-8 minutes walking from the Piazzale Roma, the bus stop where the bus takes you from the Marco Polo airport in 20-25 minutes.

Although it was my second stay, when my friend couldn’t come as she was last minute in hospital and I have announced it a few days earlier to the host, they were inflexible about changing the room or the price, so I paid the double. A bit of flexibility would have been appropriate as this hotel has guests always and could have made a switch for the room. Especially for several times customers and potential regulars - it was my 3rd year in a row in Venice for the Biennale.

The staff provided a warm welcome. It was great that the receptionist on our check-in day gave us useful guidance for exploring Venice. The hospitality of the staff in the breakfast hall was warm and welcoming.

Not even a single bottle of drinking water was provided for free by the hotel. There were limited food options on the breakfast menu. I specified my preference for an upper-floor room at the time of booking, but I was given a ground-floor room at check-in.

Communication with the staff were fast and they were responsive to my messages. The hotel is around 10 to 15 mins walk from the train station. The staffs were friendly and helpful, giving us information about Venice as well as showing us to our room and providing info on the room. Room was cosy and clean and wifi was strong. It is around 20 to 30 mins walk to the San Marco and Rialto bridge but it's a nice walk with beautiful sights. We didn't take the buffet breakfast. We enjoyed our stay.

The location was not too far from train or bus stations. The staff was super friendly and helped us upstairs with our luggage. He also helped us using the map he provided for us to use as it was our first time in Venice. We were about 20 minutes from the Rialto Bridge, but we did stop for photos along the way and to do some reading of menus. We were able to easily find our way back to the hotel using the map and the landmark bridge. Even though breakfast was served, we did not partake in it as we wanted to try a couple coffee bars. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Venice and would stay here again.

If you have more than one piece of luggage per person, there will not be a lot of room to maneuver.

Staff are great you feel like if you were within your family all of them! I asked for surprise of flower to my wife but with short notice just 1 day before we came, but they had made it and that made my wife happy. Location is the best considering we have heavy luggage with us where you will need around 10 min and to cross 2 bridges only. Room, stairs, the garden and halls are reflection of Venice culture and vibes where we have enjoyed. We made our rounds in Venice all on feet as they provided us with map showing all sites and paths. You feel love and generosity in everything. They offer good price breakfast. They offer good minibar with daily maintaining We liked the whole experience!

Almost nothing

We were exhausted when we finally found the hotel..we had walked a long time over terrain we are not used too. We also found it difficult to locate especially due to lack of signage. (as seems typical of the city)When we learned the room was up a flight of stairs I was very upset as I cannot carry more than 10-15 lbs, I thought I had asked to for 2 beds and AC. But the front desk person continued to try to address my concerns and offered a room on the main level, and the room cooled down effectively. When I was rested and settled I was very glad for the accommodations and the friendliness of the persons owning the establishment. The quaintness and all of it qualities added to our Venice experience in a positive and genuine way. Food and food service was very good, variety was appreciated and enjoyed.

street level was a bit noisy at times., especially on Sat night.
