The hotel was a very good experience. We wanted a special trip for our 40th wedding anniversary. The staff were polite, knowledgeable and friendly. We had the terrace room which was lovely and the view from the terrace made it all worth while. I loved the complementary Prosecco, coffee machine and nibbles. We eat in the restaurant twice and I can recommend it for good authentic venetian food, much better value than the tourist trap restaurants 2 mins away. Breakfast is also a varied choice and good value. The hotel is situated only 5 mins away from St Marks Square, and 10 mins from Rialto Bridge (unless you get lost, as we did!!) We splashed out on a private water taxi to and from the airport direct to the hotels landing stage. This saved a struggle with cases up and down the bridges and finding transport, and gave us a trip across the lagoon. All in all we were very pleased with the hotel and would recommend it to others.

Unfortunately the description of the terrace room on their web site and on this site did not say that there was an additional 14 steep steps after the elevator ride to reach it! I walk with a stick and stairs can be challenging so it was a bit of a struggle. My husband was unable to get anything to drink except water with his food because apparently the hotel only provided alcohol, no non alcoholic or soft drinks or juices available. I would also like to see handrails for the steps inside the hotel leading to the dining area and the lift, as they were quite steep; I did see another guest struggling so it would be helpful to future guests.

From the moment we arrived, we felt truly welcome. The staff were warm and attentive, making check-in smooth and easy. A special mention to Tommaso, the manager, who was fantastic, his communication was excellent, and he handled everything with such care. Any issues were resolved quickly and professionally, which we really appreciated. Our room was beautiful, and with a little lean out of the window, we could even catch a glimpse of the Bridge of Sighs, a sight that truly made me sigh in awe! The location was perfect, just a short walk to St. Mark’s Square, making it an ideal base for exploring the heart of Venice. Breakfast was delicious, with a great mix of continental options, eggs, and bacon, plenty to keep us going for a full day of sightseeing. If you're visiting Venice, I’d absolutely recommend staying here. The combination of friendly service, a stunning location, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere made our trip even more special. We would love to come back one day!

Thank you so very much to the entire team at Hotel Colombina for such a wonderful stay. The reception team were so helpful in answering all questions before we arrived and organised us a water taxi from the airport. They assisted us with where to go and suggestions of what to see. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the canal and we could see the Bridge of Sighs from our window. The hotel is also very central to all the main sights. The breakfast was lovely too. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

We loved everything

The view from our room was stunning - 102. The hotel is well-situated and the breakfast is lovely.

At first, we were allocated a small, dark room in a secondary building. To get to the room, we crossed a small courtyard filled with renovation waste and it was not welcoming. As the room did not match any photos on booking.com, we requested a room change to the main building. We had to pay an additional fee to change rooms. Make sure you request the main building if choosing this hotel as it is beautiful.

I only stayed two nights and went for a small room, which perhaps was too small for a couple but fine for a traveller on his own. It was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was excellent. The Parmesan Cookies (for which you do have to pay) are out of this world. I had stayed before with my family a good many years ago and was keen to revisit. Very friendly staff.

Breakfast is good but I have some points to make: Venetian bread is not very good and the choice of bread was more disappointing than I expected. Greater variety is needed including whole grain etc.

Excellent location, very convenient in the heart of the city close to San Marco. Very friendly staff, excellent communication, took great care of us. Overall very good experience (regardless of some minor things).

Our room was extremely hot and this made uncomfortable, unfortunately hotel was still in "winter set up" (no airconditioning), staff did provide fan - it helped a bit, but still... Breakfast could have been better.

The beds were extremely comfortable, the water, entry, charming, the breakfast delicious, the staff gracious. The added bonus of having a boat available to us for visits to the Marano glass factory and tours of the islands was amazing. The Canal leading to the hotel goes under the Bridge of Sighs and is within a three minute walk to San Marco Square.

We had four people in one room while it was beautiful. It was a little tight on space.

The hotel is an old palazzo, so very grand and beautiful. The room was large with a very modern bathroom. The breakfast was amazing - so delicious and served in a stunning room. For people who appreciate history, this is the hotel for them. For those expecting something modern, this isn't for you. But if you want a true Venetian experience, this is the place. The staff are very accommodating - I booked a second room at the last minute and they made sure the rooms were close together. I wished we could have stayed longer - it was that good. The location is 5 minutes away from St. Mark's square, about 10 minutes from Rialto bridge, and close to everything. Expect to walk a lot in Venice, but it's so beautiful, you don't mind!

Two suggestions - one is to have a mirror outside the bathroom. It makes it difficult to share a room with the only mirror inside the bathroom. Also, there are beautiful old wooden shutters that we left open for "outdoor air conditioning" since there was only heat, not cold air, in the rooms. The mosquitoes came in at night and ate us alive. So, the suggestion is either to put screens on the windows or have air conditioning so the shutters can stay closed and the room isn't stuffy.

I loved the view of the canal. We had never been to Venice before and it was a wonderful experience. Your hotel is located in a perfect spot. Easy walking to all locations. The bellman even carried our luggage to the water taxi when we departed. It was a wonderful time.

No fault of anyone. We were hoping that the water taxi could bring us right to the hotel. We didn't know that we would be dropped off a long distance away with heavy luggage.

Great location! The hotel staff were all fabulous! They were able to coordinate private taxi trips from the airport and to the island of Murano and train station for us. Delicious breakfast with cappuccino. Nice rooms with marble floors and chandelier.
