The Westin Portland Harborview is a very nice hotel located in the heart of Portland, Maine. It is not far from the interstate, and there are lots of shops, restaurants and historical attractions nearby. On this occasion, we were taking in a play at the Portland Stage, just a block away. After the play, we enjoyed the panoramic view with a nightcap and snacks at the Top of the East, located on the 15th floor. The Eggs Benedict at the C2 restaurant the next morning were cooked perfectly. The staff at the hotel and restaurants were pleasant and attentive, and the valet had our car ready promptly at check out.

Our bed was comfortable, but my wife would have preferred a firmer pillow.

The location was adjacent to the State Theatre, where our event was. Checking in and out was super easy, as was parking in the garage directly next door. MOST of the staff was very friendly and helpful.

The toilet in our room ran all night. I fixed it multiple times but it kept malfunctioning. When we mentioned this issue to the front desk staff, she kind of scoffed at us for considering it a problem. I could have stayed home, for free, if I wanted to work on plumbing projects. This woman was really kind of rude and dismissive. It IS actually a problem not to be able to flush a toilet, in my opinion.

In the rooftop bar, the redheaded bartender was quite rude. I have never had a negative interaction with a bartender. They weren't busy, but when I ask her a question about the bourbons they had, she snapped back like I was ignorant and turned around and walked away. (I am from Louisville, KY where bourbon is made and pretty knowledgeable.) I couldn't see the vintage and just ask which of that distillers vintage were they. Pretty standard questions for a bourbon drinker.

The location was great. Very walkable to most of the prime spots in the city. The reception had a toy cart which my son enjoyed picking up toys everytime we walked past the lobby. Staff were excellent catering all our needs. We were allowed for early check-in and also a late check-out at our request. That allowed us to spend extra time at the beach. Very clean linens. Overall I would rate Westin Portland Harborview very high and would definitely stay here when I visit Portland again.

The hotel itself was beautiful, walking in it took my breath away. The staff was incredible, I wish I got the name of the gentleman at the front desk with the curly brown hair, he was fantastic and explained everything we needed. The room itself was very clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The view from our room overlooked a little courtyard that had music in the evening and the hotel was right in walking distance of the State Theater where we were attending a concert. We sadly didn't have time to try the restaurant or the spa but we will be returning again just to stay at the hotel and experience what it has to offer!

The only downside was there was no fridge in the room, but that was my fault for not checking if there was one before I booked the reservation.

Big, classy, historic, centrally-located hotel which has been attractively-renovated. Large suite w/ a huge bathroom; warm, quiet, both dark (when we wanted it to be) and bright (ditto). Delicious, large, made-to-order breakfast. Big and well-equipped gym. Huge parking garage right next door. Friendly staff (for the most part).

We paid for a room w/ breakfast included for 4 people but then were only given breakfast passes for 2 people and had to argue so our kids could eat too; frankly for a nice hotel that was cheap and unfair of them.

Staff was so friendly and the room was clean and spacious.Great shower!

The 15th floor bar lounge:( The staff was sooo lovely but the tuna was old, out of shrimp cocktail. We were lucky enough to get the last 5 oysters- we would have ordered more if stocked. The wine and cocktail list was not good. I think they were out of flutes to make a certain cocktail and it was put in a highball instead. Just disappointing because the view and the staff were awesome.

We stayed in a 1 Bedroom Junior Suite, and found the room comfortable with plenty of space. One of the favorite parts was the shower, it truly was great! The amenities were also fine, with more than adequate gym facilities. Elevators were quick and don't recall really having to wait for one. The staff was friendly and on the few times I stopped by they were always willing to help.

Overall, nothing major to not like. The only thing that was kind of meh was the lighting. I can't speak for all rooms, but at least in ours there was only a light switch in the bathroom and the main light by the door. The other lights throughout the living room and bedroom area were manual. This at times made for a pretty dark room and having to feel your way to a light. ...we managed fine.

Every interaction we had with the reception (check in, check out, asking for additional amenities that we were looking for in our room) was exceptional! The staff was so friendly and quick with all the requests. It really felt personable rather than the usual formal/sterile hotel experience!

The room cleaning schedule seemed very disjointed and different each day, and there didn't seem to be clear messaging on how to indicate what should or should not be cleaned? We would always hang up our towels with the intention that they were not replaced but some days they would be and others they wouldn't be. And then when we would leave towels on the ground to indicate that we were done with them, they would be left on the ground after housekeeping had already come through and cleaned the bathroom.

The character of the building and it's decor was very clean and well appointed. Rooms were of a good size with no complaints.

Nothing to do with the hotel or the chain. The homeless and the open air drug use which is a local government controlled issue really turned me off to the location. Unfortunately I'll use another outlet outside of the city.
