Nice rooms, well located. All very new.

A very big issue was the (optional) service charge applied to the entire stay which is automatically added to your bill and you have to go through the embarrassment of asking for it to be removed on checking out. Applying a service charge to an entire hotel stay is something we’ve never experienced in the U.K. or anywhere outside of one hotel in the US. This is very American and it left a bad taste in our mouth. We booked this hotel for a certain price and there should be no automatic additions of service charges.

Staff, hotel, and location were awesome! We got a room with a view of the castle and were very happy with our choice.

The breakfast was highly overpriced, and the price is not listed on the menu or anywhere else I easily see. £16 per person for continental and £25 if you want to add something warm like an egg. So we paid £50 for two eggs Benedicts. Avoid the overpriced breakfast, and this is a perfect hotel.

Super room and food. The hotel is very comfortable, with excellent views of the castle and pastures. Outdoor seating was attractive and comfortable. All members of staff were courteous and helpful, greeting us with a genuine smile. Nothing was too much bother for them.

Although not the fault of the hotel, the fact the lift was out of order had a significant impact on my disabled wife's enjoyment of the short break. She struggled to climb stairs to the second floor to reach our room. However, I must praise all staff members who went out of their way to help us.

I booked a castle view room. The view was beautiful as the sun came up behind the castle. Breakfast was very tasty - the kipper hash was lovely. The room was large and comfortable and the TV was set up so that I could log into my streaming services. A really good location.

Waw!!! What a hotel. Everything you wish for in a hotel, the Bailiffgate had it all. The room, the facilities, the location and the staff were all at a very high standards. Didn't want to leave. Will definitely stay here again.

Nothing. Nothing at all, even the steps to go up to it I didn't mind because the hotel is amazing.

Location was superb, quality of fitting etc are good , nice & modern , but still feeling very comfortable. Lovely outside area, which will be even better once plants have matured . A lot of effort gone into trying to provide what guests expect .

Nothing to not like really , although not enough coat hangers 🤷‍♀️

Location, staff, decor.

very strong green light ( on ceiling in bedroom ) - smoke detector? Was on constantly and disrupted sleep significantly.

Hotel was exceptionally clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable...we had never slept so well in a hotel before! The rooms were spacious with great views of the castle. Will definitely go back in the not too distant future.

Slight improvement needed in the dining room. The experienced staff were great, but the more junior staff would bring out deserts without cutlery being on the table and on two occasions didn't bring out our side orders with our main courses and we had to ask where they were before we could start our meal. These however are only minor tweaks which are easy to resolve.

Breakfast staff could of been better managed.

The decor from top to bottom is outstanding. The location couldn’t be any better. The restaurant, staff and luggage assistance staff were outstanding.

The additional gratuity added on without my knowledge for room service and anything ordered at the bar. I would be tipping throughout only to find service fees for each item on my final invoice AND a voluntary gratuity to all staff on checking out. I would and did agree for overall staff gratuity, but the other items shouldn’t be billed or at least not on final bill ~ should be given that option as you pay or charge to the room.
