The longue space is nice for a rest and have some working area for u with the plug The thing I like the most are they provide free 24hrs curry rice, and have udon, fried rice during dinner time too! It's very suitable for budget traveler like me. The staff will cleanup bedsheet and pillow every morning too, toilet, makeup room are clean and tidy. There are one big locker(for your own luggage) and small locker (for small stuff that will be frequent use) Like there very much.

The reception is very helpful and polite, even though they couldn't speak english and I couldn't speak Japanese, but with the help of google Translate, we were able to understand each other. I also enjoyed the bath downstairs and the toiletries that are free to use.

They kept my luggage on the staff area, where I couldn't take it at will, I had to ask the staff to take it for me and there's no room for me to open my luggage.

While in Japan, my (teen/adult) kids wanted to try a capsule hotel. Gran Customa Ueno was a great choice. Capsules were comfortable, free curry, free pajamas, clean facilities, private shower rooms, a lounge area with a good sized library of Manga and magazines (Unfortunately we don't read japanese), and a 7-11 adjacent to the hotel with a door passing from the back of the hotel lobby directly into the back of the 7-11 so we could buy snacks/drinks/whatever. You don't even have to change out of PJ's and slippers to go to 7-11 since you never go outside. :) Gran Customa also had an internet cafe adjacent to the capsul hotel, maybe I'll visit that next time. For the price, with food included, this seemed like a great value for 1-2 people. Paying for 3 people gets close to where we could have rented a traditional hotel room instead, but we were there for the experience. If you just need a simple place to sleep for the night, and maybe a good sized helping of curry, I highly reccommend Gran Customa Ueno.

My oldest kid apparently had a neighbor in the next capsule that snored super loud and obnoxiously. They clearly had untreated sleep apnea, so the snoring and sudden starts as the guy woke up repeatedly made it hard for my kid to sleep. Can't really blame the capsule hotel for that though, about they only thing they could do would be to offer earplugs or soundproof the capsules somehow.

1. Excellent location if you're flying from Narita airport as the keisei-ueno station for the skyliner train to Narita airport is very near. It is also near okachimachi and also Ueno Jr station. 2. The capsule is cheap if you book early. 3. Free rice with curry on second floor 4. Free comics for reading on the premise 5. Complimentary use of the bath 6. amenities such as pyjamas, towels, shower gel, shampoo are provided with no extra charge 7. Luggage storage before and after checkout 8. Linked to 7-11 9. Shower, locker and toilet are available on women's only floor.

1. Crowded. Understandably due to it's strategic location therefore it's favourite amongst the locals and tourist 2. Only two shower on women's only floor... However I almost always never need to wait to use the shower 3. Capsule's length is quite short. It was fine for me as I am fairly short but people taller than 5"1 may want to reconsider 4. The locker is of average size, but the locker room is not very big, therefore it could be crowded if you have more than three people packing their luggage at the same time. 5. It would be good to have Rules like leave your key with the receptionist when you go out printed in English as most of the foreign travelers may not be aware of this, me included.

I always avoided staying here because of having to check out early everyday, but I’m glad I stayed here because this will be one of my favorite places to stay while in Tokyo. The all-day free curry rice was a cool amenity. It’s good and hot curry too and you could technically have all of your meals here if you don’t mind curry everyday. The 7-11 connected to the building was also cool and you could get a drink or a 200 yen piece of chiki to plop onto your curry. There’s also some nice chairs you can just relax in. There are two private stall showers on the same floor as your bed if you don’t feel comfortable taking public showers in the spa. There are also washers and dryers available on the same floor. Beds were good enough. There’s a TV and mirror inside with power outlet. Aesthetically, the place looks a little outdated, like 90s, but it’s not a big deal. Located right in Ameya Market, so there’s plenty of activity.

Staff didn’t speak much English.

I like the capsule bed.it was an experience.it was long enough for my height. The facilities were clean.they gave us rice and curry and it was very good.we could have one drink for free. We had a tv in the bed. The public bath was very clean

We cannot have our luggage upstairs in the room so we needed to make sure we had all of the essentials with us. They didn't provide luggage storage after we checked out.

I only spent one night here because I needed to take the skyliner early in the morning to Narita Airport, the location is great, super close to the station, Ueno park, Nezu, and not far from Taito and Asakusa. There's an onsen and sauna inside, and you get free unlimited rice and curry. It's clean, comfortable and quiet, the value for the price is insane, would def come back again next time in that area in Tokyo.

Third time in this hotel, but first time after the rename into Gran Custama. Some things did not change: the hot spring was great (with a sauna!), and the capsules were quiet. Locker size was perfect, and there is a baggage room to store large suitcases in the lobby. The 2nd floor is a great place: you can relax, get a free drink, and eat free curry with rice 24/7.

The bathrooms and hot spring changing room were messy and dirty. Upper capsules can be difficult to climb in, and capsules are a bit cramped with little space available for personal items.

I stayed in a capsule room with a twin bed (lower bunk). The hotel was clean, convenient, and had great value (they provide a lot for a very low price per night). There is free curry rice, and there is a floor with free manga that you can borrow (I didn't use this). The shower rooms and WCs were conveniently close to the bed areas. The powder room came with free toothbrushes, combs, etc. which was a nice plus. The locker in the locker room could fit small luggage or a backpack.

There is a built-in TV in the capsule room, and I kept hitting my head on it when I entered (and I'm very short, so this may be tough for most people). It was probably one of the smallest capsule bed rooms I've stayed in (mostly because of that TV and maybe a lower ceiling).

It was right in the center of where we wanted to be. I also liked that it was directly connected to a convenience store, so stopping at a convenience store before going back to the hotel was made easier!

Maybe just a clearer instruction as to how to make the capsules work? My eyesight is poor so I had to message my husband to ask him how he got the electricity in the capsule to work.
