Great location. Self-service check-in is also great. Great lobby. The room is also very nice and cozy. Parking is on the street, next to the hotel, all along the street and in the side streets. On Saturdays from 5 pm to Sunday it is free of charge, which is great. Breakfast is simple, but delicious and warm, delicious coffee. I only met the staff at breakfast, when they served it, a very nice, smiling girl. Paldies Ģertrūde Hotel, noteikti atgriezīsimies.

It's a shame that it wasn't possible to use the bathtub to relax, because the drain plug wasn't there. Also, the hair dryer's power button was broken. In winter, it can be a problem that the bathroom floor is very cold. But these things didn't really bother me to have a good time.

I liked the comfy bed, clean and quiet room and good modern bathroom. Getting in and getting my room key was nice and easy. Decent location for exploring Riga but also for the train station. I liked having a fridge in my room too. The lobby/bar area was also a lovely space to spend a little time in.

The air-con didn't work (though I didn't need it and I didn't ask for it to be fixed either), and the carpet in my room had lots of old stains on it. The wardrobe rattled a lot as I walked past, so had to strategically place tissues to fix it.

It's definitely value for money, our room was veru spacious, beds were comfortable, bathroom was very nice. And particularly, the breakfast was absolutely fabulous and so rich! We felt everything was well kept and in order, but one can see that the hotel has not been refurbished for quite a while, and the decor was not the very latest, but it wasn't a big deal for us. We also liked the sound-proof walls and the overall privacy. A few other small things (like shoe horn, extra pillows) were a nice touch.

It would be advisable to change the old and outdated devices like the hairdryer that didn't work most of the time, and wasn't powerful.

Locaed a little outside the city centre, but not too long. Took us about 25 minutes to the old city, so we stayed there during the day, took a break back at the hotel room, and went back to the city centre for the evening. That worked pretty good for us, but we were tired of walking after a couple of days. The room was big enough for what you need and the breakfast had a good variety of what you need. We are very pleased with the stay.

Maybe that it was a little outside the city centre. If we were to stay longer than 3 days, I think we would have gotten tired of walking so much every day.

Terrible parking, at least the one I was offered- if you have a bigger car, basically you will spend a lit of time till you park as it is extremely small and narrow. When I was leaving the hotel, I told the receptionist to open the gate, she confirmed yes, as she sees me on the cam. I was standing in front of the gate, nobody was opening- it appeared she just left, nobody was there. People, then make the gate open automatically.

Hotel is located in the centre, close to train station. Few buildings away is a small Rimi shop. In the room there is kettle with tea and coffee. Minibar is well facilitated. Also there are shoe cleaning wipes etc. Staff is friendly and willing to help.

I personally do not like carpeted floors, I doubt such floors are clean. Could be nice if in the bathroom there would be also some proper shampoo. Few more signs indicating the location of rooms could be installed - it's not always easy to navigate different connected buildings.

The Jugendstil interior makes you feel like in the old days, nevertheless everything is modernized and in order. we had a superior suite that was really spacious. Bed was comfortable, and although it was freezing outside, it was always warm in the room. Breakfast menu had lots of choices, including warm meals, good coffee. For us not important, but: english channels were available on TV. WiFi Quality was good. Be aware that the hotel is a bit far off the centre, like a 20 minutes walk after we learned the shortest route to take. For us was no big deal, but families or elderly people might consider choosing a location closer to centre.

Due to location and hotel category (4 Stars), we missed facilities like a hotel bar / restaurant open in the evening and a sauna, since there are not many places to go for food & drink in the surroundings and Riga is a cold place (strong winter still in march).

A small but clean room. There is a kettle and a safe. Our windows faced the courtyard, so it was quiet. Great breakfast! I recommend it. The air conditioner did not work in the room and they didn’t have time to fix it during our stay. However, it was not an issue since the regular heating was sufficient

It is possible to park a car at the main parking lot 8 minutes away from the hotel and get a discount (7 euros per 24h) which is great in this area. Just mention Gertrude hotel. We did not receive this information from the hotel.

Did everything you need a hotel to do; it was safe and clean. Bed was comfortable. Can open bedroom windows if you want (many hotels don't do this). Staff were pleasant. Room was nice and warm at all times which was essential given the freezing weather outside. Nice building. Good kettle in room. Sizeable selection at breakfast in a pleasant and comfortable setting on the second floor. Reliable airport transfer (*additional cost). Shops (for food, water, etc) practically next to the hotel which was very convenient.

I could not get safe to work (did not ask for help as I did not need it). Water was discoloured when running the hot tap - rust? (the uk-gov website does say that you should not drink tap water in Latvia). Nice old building, still fit for purpose, but there are little signs of wear (nothing that hinders funtion). Towel heater on bathroom wall wasn't great. No gluten free/sugar free/ vegan options at breakfast (though I did not request my dietary requirements).
