Fantastic location and I like the vibe. Bed was comfy and we enjoyed the bar and restaurant areas.

We were upgraded to a better room for no extra charge - thanks - but unfortunately the two story room was cold downstairs and we couldn’t get the temperature to change with the control.

Lovely boutique hotel in central location. Were upgraded to a Loft room so plenty of space although stairs to bedroom area if mobility is an issue. Comfortable bed and pillows, large bathroom and living area was also spacious. Great breakfast choices and staff were very helpful and friendly. Recommend if you enjoy hotels with lots of character and charm.

Everything was great. Only comment would be that the bedroom in the loft looked straight into office windows across the street so curtains needed to remain closed for privacy but no issue for us. Some minor street noise on Saturday night but the soundproofing is excellent.

We love this hotel - second time we stayed. It's exactly as it was 9 years ago so from that perspective it's probably very slightly rough around the edges but everything is well maintained. It has a lovely mid-century vibe. They have one some the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. Breakfast is really nice and overall it's just something different from the usual inner city hotels with a nicer and more personal vibe.

Staff use the lift a lot when cleaning rooms in the mornings so there doesn't seem to be a separate service lift - so it can mean waiting for the lift. But it's only a couple of floors so it's not really a major issue unless you have to use it.

This place is a little gem. We were upgraded to a bigger room and found the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. Room was adorable and very clean with excellent attention to detail. Thank you Sivijana. It’s also very quiet at night so makes for a good sleep. We ate in the restaurant which was great and Nana provided wonderful service and her amazing personality. The bar is intimate and charming as is the whole place. Just can’t fault anything. The location is perfect too. We will definitely return.

We were charged for a mini bar drink we hadn’t consumed. However Alvaro quickly remedied that and was kind enough to organise posting a handbag id left in the wardrobe back to my home address. So actually there’s nothing to not like here!

The hotel has an an amazing vibe, a mixture of mid century modern with a touch of Gatsby. Considering its downtown location, it is very quiet. We really enjoyed the decorations and overall scheme of the hotel. The upstairs bar was really nice. The downstairs bar is on the street corner, but we did not try it. Auckland is pretty walkable, so you can get to ferries, restaurants, University via short walks.

It is great that they have parking, but the garage is not for the faint of heart. You enter on a very steep hill, so your car is tilting up quite significantly as you enter. It was really challenging to find the reserved spots. There are a LOT of pillars with parking spots splayed out in all directions.

Everything was well thought through and was orientated towards giving the guest the best stay possible. Quiet, well-appointed rooms, very clean and a great bathroom. Everything you could expect from a modern hotel, but still retained heritage charm. Friendly and helpful staff.

These are personal preferences that may not apply to everyone, but I prefer a buffet style breakfast, which provides greater flexibility for different appetites. Despite having a selection of pillows to choose from, there wasn't an option for a thinner pillow, they were all very thick.

This hotel is centrally located with a boutique vibe. The location is terrific and only a block or two from Brittomart, and the great shopping area at the bottom of Queen Street. The room was very nicely decorated with funky, colourful art-deco furniture. The bathroom was also quite upmarket with lots of space. Everything was there that we needed, the usual hotel room niceties and a high standard of cleanliness. The bed was also very comfortable. We had a delicious cooked breakfast (off a menu, not buffet) as part of our package. The staff were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed great service throughout our stay. Highly recommend as something special in downtown Auckland.

There's no doubt that DeBrett's is an expensive option. It is well outside our usual budget but we had limited options this weekend where prices had be hiked up everywhere. Car parking is well off-site and costs $30/day - just so you know, it's not unusual for the CBD though. The only other thing that could have been a bit better was the breakfast offered with the room rate - even though it was delicious, it was a bit limited ie a meal and a drink (eg coffee). It is pretty standard to be able to also have a juice with breakfast and maybe another coffee. It just doesn't give that luxury, boutique vibe when there are constraints like this, and maybe the management could rethink their breakfast package.

This hotel gets everything right: great shower, great bed, comfortable room (we had a free upgrade), a lovely atmosphere, fantastic breakfast, and highly attentive and nice staff. The bar/restaurant area is beautiful, with everything a little retro styled. The hotel is furthermore located in a very pretty central area of Auckland, within walking distance of the waterfront and central shopping areas.

My recent 2-night stay at Hotel DeBrett was nothing short of delightful. Our room backed onto the elevator which went all night and day, the noise wasn’t loud but it was very disruptive and annoying. The door which people’s used to enter the hallway to all the rooms was next to our front door, it was so annoying! Our under floor heating didn’t work in the bathroom either. I think we just lucked out with our room location. I booked two rooms one for us and one for another couple. They got complimentary drink vouchers and we didn’t.. but their room was great!
