Eric and the rest of the staff at the Fitzroy were exceptional. They were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The rooms were exceptionally well appointed. Beautiful linens, thick towels and heavy robes and slippers. Heated floors and towel racks in the bathroom. Dyson hair dryers and high quality shampoos/conditioners/soap/lotions. The beds were very comfortable and lighting was on dimmers. We had a really nice breakfast delivered to our room/porch every morning and the price was included in the rate. In addition there was "happy hour" from 4PM-9PM in the sitting room and canapés also included in the price. The staff also arranged for our transport to the airport. Convenient location a block from the shops/restaurants in Ponsonby. Top notch experience!

The rooms were on the smaller side, especially with excess luggage.

We loved everything. From the moment we arrived -- which was early in the morning -- the service was gracious. There was nothing they wouldn't do to make us feel welcome and at home. All of the details -- the gorgeously restored Victorian property, the open bar in the upstairs library with complimentary yummy happy hour treats, the bathrobes and Chopard body care -- just everything was perfect. Thanks to Pablo and his amazing team, Leo and Eric, for making our stay absolutely wonderful!

Our suite was located in the annex which was lovely but had a view to a side street and adjacent parking lot which made it rather noisy in the early morning. If we booked again, we would make sure to book a suite in the house.

Hotel Fitzroy is in a neighborhood whose main street is Ponsonby, a street with shops, restaurants (we ate dinner in the area every night) and nightlife that many visiting Auckland might never go. The hotel itself is about 125 meters from Ponsonby in a quiet neighborhood of lovely homes. To start, the staff cannot be complimented enough. Pablo and Eric went above and beyond time and time again from which wine tour to take, which restaurant to eat in and which route to take to walk the almost 2.5km to the port, downhill the whole way. No request was beyond their doing. The day we arrived they got brand new mattresses for all the rooms, and they are ultra luxury mattresses and sheets. The made to order breakfast is delicious and plentiful. The facilities are what you would expect in an upscale bed and breakfast. Highly recommended.

We were welcomed by a very kind receptionist called Erik. He was extremely kind and courteous. We were ushered to very inviting reception area/lounge where we were offered a nice cold cup of tea, and we went through the facilities of the hotel. Shortly after we checked in, we were invited also to join the happy hour in the library area with an array of wines and cocktails, as well as beautiful canapés. Overall, we were given tips about dining and other whereabouts in Auckland. The morning of the checkout another member of staff Marianna, was extremely accommodating when we explained to her that our flight was delayed and we would like to check out slightly later. overall the impression is that everyone in the hotel is there to make you feel welcome comfortable, and to assist you in every possible way

Everything was perfect

Gorgeous hotel in a charming neighbourhood! I was given the option of having breakfast served in the room or out on the balcony and I'm glad I decided on the balcony as it was lovely out there. The hotel is just as described and shown in photos but what truly blew me away was the service. Although I requested for a room in the main building (which they accommodated), I later realised that the noise from the street was a bit uncomfortable. The staff were more than happy to show me other rooms that were available and let me change rooms. In the middle of the night, I heard strange noises outside my door and rang up the reception to inform them. They went to check, and it turns out it was strong winds from outside. That simple act provided me with the comfort I needed to get a good night's sleep. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here.

The staff were few but excellent at answering questions and helping meet any requests. Breakfast was excellent and customized to meet daily changes. The afternoon happy hour made the trip relaxing and reduced any stress about making dinner reservations during a holiday week stay.

Parking was available, but not dedicated to the hotel. No on premises laundry facilities. The proximity to restaurants and shops was great, but most were not open due to holiday hours.

It was so beautifully appointed. Clean and fresh! The breakfasts were great! The bed comfy! The staff were brilliant friendly and helpful. They were always available and offering assistance. Really genuine. There was a library to sit in and enjoy pre dinner drinks and nibbles for free!!! A great selection of soft and alcoholic. Wines beers etc! The property was in a great location. A short stroll to Ponsonby. All the neighbouring houses were beautiful.

We had a plane delayed and instead of arriving at 5pm we arrived the next morning at 5AM!! And Pablo came right out, helped with our bags, and made us feel super welcome. And the breakfasts--astonishing. Afternoon canapés and wine--beautifully presented. Location too, in a quiet neighborhood yet 2 blocks from Ponsonby. Best of both worlds.

I can't think of a thing they haven't already thought of. Seriously, they just don't miss a trick to make you feel at home.

Extremely pleasant staff who were all very responsive to any request. Created a communal atmosphere with happy hour. Hotel is very small and one was able to socialize with other guests easily during this happy hour. Very generous with supplies in the room which were not charged for. Staff went out of the way to comply with my preferences.

There was not a lot of room for suitcases in our suite. While there was a suitcase trestle in the room there really wasn’t any place to set it up without obstructing traffic in some way. Not a lot of surface area for toiletries without moving stuff off of surfaces to make room. These pieces which were part of the decor or room amenities ended up in the closet which took up space for our things.

The room was nicely appointed having lots of nice details added in and had what we needed, the bed was amazingly comfy we loved it. The breakfast was incredible we felt very spoilt having this in bed. Our room was street level so no view but a quiet side street so it was fine and only for 1 night. The water and soft drinks in the minibar were great and just what we needed when we were there.

The room was much smaller than I expected as they look much bigger in the photos it hard to get air in with small window openings. The fridge is so small we couldn’t fit the wine bottle in. There was an iPad to use for service but it was not charged and didn’t seem to stay charged we were not given instructions on its use or how to use the heating so we couldn’t adjust the temperature. There is very limited light in the bathroom to do make up so that was difficult as we were going to an event. We weren’t told how to access our room at night and hoped when we got home could get around the side of the house, luckily we could . It would have been nice to get some more instructions.
