I stayed in a room with 20 beds (!) and zero windows, but it worked. Everybody had their basic privacy even though the space was cramped. The toilets and showers were clean and functional. It was fabulous to chat with other guests in the kitchen and the lounge and to exchange tall tales and evocative experiences from our voyages. I loved the overall upbeat vibe and the heart-warming international camaraderie of this place! Go K-Road! PS I would definitely recommend to anyone who is into LOTR to pay a visit to Hobbiton, which is only two hours’ drive from here.

Loved the bed. Good firm mattress. Great to have a fan so I could close the window. Love the exposed brick wall in the room I stayed in. Great location if you are wanting to walk to cafes/bars/restaurants or want to enjoy a bit of night life. Will definitely stay again.

I have stayed a few times before and know to expect noise, but to anyone expecting a quiet night on K Road, it wont happen as there is always something going on and you can hear it all through the night so maybe pack some earplugs or put your ear buds in. Not the lodges fault obviously. There was a bit of smeared paint on the carpet, but it looked as if it was just re-painted recently, so most likely a contractor that hadn't quite covered up the area.

I had such a great time at this hostal and would definitely stay here again. Everything is super clean, showers and bathrooms are cleaned three times a day daily! Bed was super comfy and clean too. The kitchen is quite big and there is a lot of stuff, so that it is possible to cook without any problem. The hostel also offers basic spices to cook, free coffee and tea. It is also easy to meet other travellers in the common area. The staff is super friendly and it feels such a good vibe there, that it feels like home!

Only positive things :)

Bathrooms were cleaned regularly, so was kitchen (which was stocked with tea, coffee, sugar, & lots of leftover spices to use). Bed had privacy curtain, locker, lights, & personal sockets for charging electronics. Everyone is kinda doing their own thing, just have to be okay with starting the conversation. Hostel overall had a very good vibe. Special thanks to Luca for being informative, welcoming on arrival, & throughout my stay. Alejandro was very friendly and had some great talks. Jimmy for sharing his crepes with guests. And Sein (spelling?) for always being chipper and helpful.

The dorm room was right next to an alleyway outside where people congregate, gets noisy at night. The light is on a timer in the downstairs bathroom an goes out after a while. So if you take a long time in the stall better to use the other floor’s bathroom. Sometimes they start cleaning & vacuuming the dorm rooms before the 10am checkout, so harder to sleep in.

Tidy room to myself. Lena quietened rowdy children next door. Could do my laundry here.

All things out of accommodations control unfortunately. Homeless noise from the street, stairs, smart mouthed phone cable man (Lena has to put up with alot). I understand people do not know the website I am "famous" for is a scam by nz gangs, however professional workers should not slander customers. When this story is out thousands of kiwis will go to jail for participating in mongrel mob scam. Good luck not catching a case. & hold onto Lena Haka House. She is worth her weight in gold.

The staff members were all very helpful and friendly, and there is a massive well stocked kitchen. The bathrooms were super clean and it's nice to have individual rooms rather than cubicles. Showers always hot and decent water pressure. The curtains across the beds helped with privacy, and I could fit all of my luggage into the locker beneath the bed. I also slept brilliantly! It was also good that they had more than one social space. Very close to a bus stop that has many bus routes connecting through it.

The area around the hostel doesn't seem like the best, though this didn't really negatively impact my stay. The WiFi is a bit weaker in the TV room and back bedroom even using the hotspot.

One of the most welcoming hostels in Auckland. Staff are simultaneously professional and down-to-earth. Abundant kitchen space with a plethora of whiteware, stove hobs, and appliances. Significant food storage space. Comfortable lounge. There's also a pool table in the basement. Clean facilities. Sturdy bed frames with access to storage (bring your own large padlock). Good atmosphere - a comfortable mix of keeping to yourself while having the option to socialize. There is a door code that changes regularly so no randoms can just walk in - I experienced this at previous hostels so I was relieved to see this security feature in action.

The bed storage could definitely be more secure - the bolt sliders need to be adjusted and hinges need to be added. I could simply move the whole panel - with the bolt remaining locked with a padlock - and (with a little difficulty) remove the panel to access my belongings. Room 19, bed E. However, I am being devil's advocate as it would be pretty obvious to anyone in the room that the storage is not yours if you tried this. Although, you can often just be the only one in an 8 bed dorm.

The bed is comfortable. The comforter/duvet is a good addition considering it is very cold. the place is quiet except for one instance. But all in all, bang for the buck.

They did not ask me whether I could be placed on the lower part of the bunker bed. the height is steep and cinsidering my lower back condition it is more than a challenge to go up. I honestly hoped I could have been placed at the lower bed.

Staff interaction was very very good and they were very accommodating and understanding . can not fold them at all very clear instructions and a very safe place to be good internet access also kitchen was kept very clean at all times a very pleasant place to hang out if you have not a lot to do plenty fridge space etc can highly recommend

Staff had good eye for tidyness and cleaningness and bathrooms were kept tidy and clean while I was there.. that was all on the ground level ..... BUT one advise ... look a bit higher up All the lamps have a layer of dust on them voor a long long time . The one next to my bed I dusted of ... :) Bed matress is actually great .... however the pillows are a bit small for the situation .. it falls away in the space between wall and matress ... but I guess that space could also be filled for private articles of the hostel guests ...
