The reception staff are friendly, outgoing helpful, and welcoming to all. They work hard and are appreciated so much! Same with the housekeeping staff! I hope they get good wages for all the hours of hard work and different type people they interact with!

Despite great cleaning efforts from the hostel staff some guests really don't know how to keep common spaces tidy after use. Mainly the bathrooms and sometimes kitchen. No fault but the guests. Rent can be pretty high despite long term rates.the process of looking into that seemed hard to get straightforward answers about at times. 1st room had bed bugs so I was grateful to change rooms. But laundry services were limited from repairs so it was hard to transition into a clean space again while working and adhering to quiet hours/ while sharing laundry facilities with housekeeping. Pro tip-Close windows for birds when not in room!

There can be some more efforts to make the hostel nore social. I would suggest the hostel authorities tk create a whatsapp group so that every person who stays at this hostel can be part of this group, and this will be a chance for people to get more social, allowing to call for playing games at lobby, and this will promote the hostel further, as a marketing strategy for you.

Yes the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent, value for money.

The room was a bit hot and it was difficult opening the windows. I was a bit shocked to see cockroaches in the 2nd night I was there on the fridge and one climbed onto my bed onto the pillow and a key got stolen from my suitcase. Also the light didn't work in the dining room where you eat and there were no cups in the kitchen.

The Chinese girl (from Habin) on Reception was absolutely lovely... very helpful. I like staying at the YMCA - it's handy to central Auckland and the facilities are all that I need for each stay. It's never too crowded, so toilets and showers remain clean and fresh.

I know that central Auckland can be a noisy place, but I did find the shouting from drunks or whoever in Greys Ave throughout the night disruptive to a sound sleep.

I enjoyed my clean, warm and quiet room (well quiet Sunday night anyway). I parked in the Civic carpark for the two nights and it was only a short walk to the YMCA. The toilets and shower rooms were clean and warm with mostly only one other person in them at the same time as me. I particularly liked the fact that Level One seemed to be for women only.

Sadly the plump chap on reception on my last morning seemed rather mean spirited when he refused to lend a person a pen to use because he wasn't a resident. Not a good look.

i would like to see a dining room next to the kitchen, so guest using kitchen to cook meals can sit down, instead of having to go to a different level, leave other dinng room where it is that is good but add another by kitchen

The room was clean and staff very friendly. Great location with free overnight parking around the corner and access to the gym.

Sleeping on the top bunk was very bumpy, every time the person below me moved felt like an earthquake.

Great location, very close to the centre, less than 20 min walk/short bus ride to Britomart (connection to airport). Clean and tidy, helpful staff, 24/7 reception. There's a lift, which was handy as we had large suitcases.

Window curtains were a bit mouldy, but otherwise the place was clean.

I like the fact that my single room complete with fridge and chairs and comfy bed. My room is based in a woman’s only area and it is not that far from the washroom/toilet and laundry area. They have a $10 breakfast starting at 6am for guests too!

The city noise outside and my room was facing the main Vincent Street area

-The location was very convenient and easy to catch transportation -Affordable price for a 3-night stay for a single bedroom -The staff were very helpful on my arrival

Nothing I didn’t like but would suggest putting up a sign on more info in the laundry room for pricing and the times for both washing machine and dryer cycles for the guests :-)
