The staff was helpful. They let us change to lower bunks - they even let one of us change to a different room to be able to have a lower bunk. There are rules to be followed but I think it makes it more liveable for everyone, especially when staying there for longer than just a few days (or if you just value sleep). People were nice and I liked that there's a combined lounge, dining and kitchen - makes the place quite social.

It would be great if the bathrooms were cleaned more often/thoroughly. It wasn't necessarily too dirty and it's vacuumed every day, but it seemed like bathroom bins are not emptied every day and toilets are not cleaned every day. They should at least be sprayed down every day if not twice a day. The bath mats also looked quite used and needed changing more often. The kitchen does not have a proper cooker. It's not too bad with the portable induction hobs, but it can get busy. That said, we were flexible with our time and always found space to cook.

clean bathroom facilities, v. quiet (for a hostel), nice clientele, community spirit (I was invited to a community dinner prepared by others in the hostel), and helpful staff.

The entrance is not hospitable- on a back street/alley and signage isn’t good- a bit hard to find.

Very nice, small hostel. Very clean and the beds are very comfy. Every bed has their own outlet. Owner is friendly :)

Great hostel with lots of awesome people travelling from overseas, the vibe here was so nice and friendly! The hostel itself is clean, centrally located and very secure. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Auckland/NZ especially solo travellers or groups.

As per the other reviews, the kitchen is a little small and has a million signs stating the rules. Not sure if it has parking, although there is a Wilson's Parking Space and street nearby. These aren't really issues though, just things to note - overall would still really recommend this place! :)

It´s a cosy place, there are a lot of people living here so it´s like a big family. The kitchen is fully furnished, the toilet are separated from the bath, and it´s in the centre of the city. The beds are comfortable.

You can not drink alcohol. When it is full the kitchen is small or the spaces to leave the food are full as well. The reception close at 14, and I think that is a little bit early.

Everything was really clean and well taken care of. It was not messy or anything, most of the time, and the cleaner came in many times a day. This was great! Small hostel, so it is easy to meet new people, feel safe and it makes it probably easy not to get messy. It was also not too too hot in the rooms most of the times and the personnel asked us whether they needed to increase the AC for us, which was great!

Apparently some rooms didn't have windows. I luckily did, but I'm not sure we could even op them. Fresh air would be nice! In the mornings they would open all rooms at the same time and leave the doors open for hours. If you have valuable things, don't leave them around! Lockers were a bit on the small side for you to add your valuable items.

Clean rooms and bathrooms, clean kitchen too. The kitchen was extremely well outfitted, and included a rice cooker, an air fryer, a microwave, a baking oven, four hot plates, two kettles, many fridges and pantries, and a lot of utensils. There is also a disability friendly bathroom, however the hostel itself is only accessible via stairs, so if you use a wheel chair you can't realistically stay here. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a lounge with a large flat screen tv with netflix, and three comfy couches. Bath towels are available at reception for a $10 deposit which you'll receive back upon return of the towel. There is a coin laundry machine and a coin dryer which both take $3 to use. The bedrooms are cleaned daily, and are kept at a comfortable temperature, never too cold or too hot. There is a lim chour supermarket across the road, and a busy metropolitan street just past that with lots of restaurants and shops. Secure parking complexes are down the road. They also added bedside containers that hang off the side of the beds for you to put things in, like phones etc.

I didn't like the beds themselves, too hard for me. Had a stiff body during my whole stay. The stair access is a minus. The front door is heavy and tends to slam shut if you let go. Other than that I can't think of anything.

The hostel was well kept. Good clean kitchen, comfortable living space, the air con throughout meant it wasn't stuffy at all even in the 8 person dorms. No alcohol allowed anywhere on site meant this is certainly not a party hostel, which suited me well as I just wanted somewhere quiet for a few days. A little bit out of the main bit of Auckland CBD, but not miles away.

Location could be a little more central, and a bit hard to find on street parking nearby. The upper bunks could do with a place to put smaller items while sleeping (e.g. phone)

Good location, walk to Symonds St cemetery, Domain, K Road. Easy access from airport with Supershuttle. Comfortable, clean, all facilities good, kitchen well equipped. Late check-in easy.

Nothing to complain about. Even for granny sharing with twenty-something age group. Stairs up to reception manageable.

The tranquility of the place and the respect for quiet hours, even though the hostel isn't large and many people were staying there. The bed was comfortable and you have the right to a locker, the bathrooms and showers were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, the cleanliness and tidiness habits of some guests mean that the small kitchen area doesn't stay clean for long, and the bedroom remains untidy.
